Belly-Button Odor? Gross...I know

Hey Guys,

Ever since starting the Atkin's a couple of weeks ago I have noticed a very foul odor coming from my naval... I shower and clean my naval everynight and I make sure to dry it, but this smell is there in the morning. At work I have to go to the restroom and take a kleenix and wad it up and pat my bellybutton with it. I have also notice a milky-goo substance (sometimes greenish) inside my bellybutton. I am not in pain, but the odor is really bad...

Anyone ever have this problem?

OMG! I just came back from the restroom with the exact same problem!!! I have not told anybody about it because it is sooooo gross! I am worried someone might think I have bad hygiene, so I spray lots of perfume. I was wondering if I have a belly button infection or something. Just plain old nasty!!!

This really sucks. I have been going to research on google and it may be some type of infection. The becteria produce the foul smell... I guess I just got to keep it dry...

Ive had it before, my doc said it was like a yeast infection only in the belly button...so if you use some anti fungal stuff (same stuff that youd use for a vag yeast infection) it should clear up in a few days...it did for mine..

I clean my belly button on occasion with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol.

Dude sounds like a cyst to me! I doubt it's fungal due to the pus discharge, but ya never know. My boyfriend had a cyst in his bellybutton one time too. Getting infections there is somewhat common. I myself had a pilonidal cyst (at the top of the buttcrack-- gross I know) several years ago and that sucker got huge and narly because I didnt know what it was and didnt take care of it. Finally it popped and I began cleaning it out. I was lucky because pilonidal cysts can be recurring and get very bad, especially if the infection was large the first time.

Anyway, I advised my boyfriend to first try and treat it himself and if it didnt get better than he should go to the doc. It healed completely in about 2 weeks. Go ahead and clean it out a few times a day with Bactine (they use this for piercings) and that should do the trick. Hydrogen peroxide would work too or antibacterial soap, but I prefer Bactine. The label says not to use for puncture wounds, but I think next to peroxide the stuff is great and every piercing I've gotten I've used Bactine with. Cleaned out my pilonidal cyst with it too.

You sound like you have a fungus infection in it..Try spraying on some tinactin srpay into it morning and night. You may even want to rub some deordant around the navel before you dress..

I'd try a tsp. of peroxide periodically and lie on my back and let it bubble away.

Will this hurt? Where do I buy Peroxide? Sav-On? I just don't want it to hurt.
