For the OP, I didn't think of this earlier, but you might want to look at the work of Phil Maffetone. He recommends LC and has a program he says will help along fat adaptation. I will warn you though, it is nothing like what you are doing now. He favors low intensity exclusively until you are well-adapted. His max HR is *170* minus your age for the majority of training.
