I'll go back to my normal 16:8 IF schedule in between. I'm planning on the hack through Thursday this week. Then Friday will be whatever I find around the house, not potato related for lunch lol, and then we're eating out for supper (going to try and talk hubby into Five Guys ). Saturday will probably be a Subway chicken bacon ranch salad for lunch (I normally eat these 2 times a week, love them!), and then maybe pizza out Saturday night. Sunday we always do a big steak lunch with relatives and then my husband usually picks up Wendys for a late supper after he does his volunteer work with our church HS youth group (Sundays are usually the only days I don't follow the 16:8IF protocol). As you can see-we eat out a lot on the weekends And then I'm thinking of doing the hack Monday-Wednesday next week I'd love to get closer to the mid-point weight of my maintenance range (125lbs).

Wow eating out is my downfall on the weekends and one of the reasons I had such a big bounce for Monday. I’m pretty excited to think I might be able to have more stability and a life at the same time.

We're going to Vegas to visit friends next Friday, so I just may join you for Mon-Wed if all goes well this week. Right now I feel great, no real hunger and the weight is beginning to move in the right direction.

Eating out on the weekends is just a part of our lives, so I've figured out how to make it fit When we get pizza I only have one slice and a couple bread sticks. Our weekly Wendys on Sunday nights-my husband and I split a baconator fry and then I just have one order of nuggets. If we go to Five Guys I'll split a fry with someone and then I get their grilled cheese sandwich with cheese, onions, tomatoes and mayo It's a higher calorie meal because of the fries, but still not too bad. And then my Subway salads come in at under 600 calories, and are ridiculously filling so it's my big meal of the day And with 16:8IF I don't eat anything in the morning, so that gives me more room for what calories I eat later in the day!

I don't weigh until tonight, but am totally sure I'm up and probably up in a big way.

My fingers feel like sausages and my intestines are NOT happy. My feet are so swollen they almost hurt.

I feel good otherwise. No hunger to speak of. In fact- I feel quite full and haven't eaten anything since my potato dinner last night. Just 1.5 cups of coffee with FF creamer today and it's 1pm here.

Ha looks like we're in the same boat right down to the sausage fingers! Hopefully it's just adjustment bloat and we'll see some weight loss tomorrow. I too am barely hungry today.

Since I posted that my fingers started swelling so badly that my rings were getting painful.

I found an ancient Diarex pill in my desk and took it along with chugging water. Hope I can flush some of this out. I can't imagine what could be causing it since I'm not low carb to begin with...

I hope both of your inflammation goes down, that doesn't sound fun at all. My egg hack DD isn't going so hot either. Had 4 hardboiled eggs, 2 regular with sea salt and 2 with mayo and mustard. Tummy is not liking the egg day, it's cramping bad. Going to be an interesting afternoon UGH pretty sure I am done with the hacks, my tummy is too delicate for this LOL

I don't know what it is about the potato hack, but boy am I starving! Even right after eating a potato I am still hungry ~ never satiated. I have been downing the water just to try to fill the void but it's not working. Anyone else feel this way?

I was very hungry yesterday, today I didn't start to feel hungry till about 3. It's now 6 and I've eaten the 2 and half lbs of potatoes I had peeled and cooked this morning. If I'm hungry again before bed I'll make 1 more potato. I was super happy today that I wasn't experiencing any gas or bloating after eating my first serving at noon. But it just started now I will be super surprised if I lose anything tomorrow, I just think me and potatoes just aren't meant to be!

Do you eat them reheated or cold? Just wondering if that has something to do with the gas?? Or maybe it's just one of the specific types of potatoes (the russets, gold, etc.) that is causing the issue? Just random thoughts....Here's hoping you see a whoosh in the morning

Yesterday they were all russets, today all reds. This morning I ate them hot, in the afternoon I ate them cold. Yesterday was mostly hot, only reheated some fries for lunch. Sigh idk hoping for a whoosh too

I don't think you are suppose to eat just one. You are suppose to eat several pounds of them so eat until you are full of taters. How many have you eaten today? Maybe you just aren't eating enough to fill up? I don't know.

interesting blog post over at Free The Animal this week. Feb 27th. Richard lost 13 lbs in one week eating potatoes. You have to overlook some bombast when you read it, but still interesting

I have had a few ounces shy of 2 lbs. so far today. Seems like that's quite a lot to me based on what others are saying they consume but maybe I'm just a piggy

Tonight's potato treat is 2 potatoes that I spiralized and baked on a cookie sheet and sprinkled with season salt.

I sprayed the cookie sheet with a bit of Pam so they wouldn't stick. I just tasted them and they are delish

Good question

I used a bit of Pam on the pan to prevent sticking, but otherwise just some seasoning and then ketchup. For my second batch I did both ketchup and mustard and oh my goodness, it was so good! I think I'm going to include mustard from now on!

I feel so bad that some of you aren't having an easy time with this Hopefully tomorrow everyone sees great numbers on their scales!

Today was 7 medium/small white potatoes (two batches of oven crisped and then one potato nuked with hot sauce before we ran out to the kids sports stuff tonight). Just drank my diet hot cocoa and I'm done for the day Kids are getting ready for bed, hubby out playing hockey and I'm getting ready to watch the madness that is Super Tuesday Have a great night my potato peeps!

From arthritis.org

'-Myth: Nightshade Vegetables Aggravate Arthritis

Science. Tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants and peppers are just some of the nightshade vegetables that contain the chemical solanine, which some have branded a culprit in arthritis pain. But no formal research has ever confirmed the claim, and the vegetables contain essential nutrients. In fact, a study in the Journal of Nutrition in 2011 showed yellow and purple potatoes lowered blood markers for inflammation in healthy men.

Bottom Line. People with arthritis may benefit from nightshades, although some people may have sensitivities to certain vegetables.'

I've always heard that too but I think it's a YMMV thing. Some people have a inflammatory response to them and others don't. Maybe that is what we are seeing here. A couple of people are seeing swelling and fluid retention from potatoes and others aren't.

TY for information.
It's interesting. I can't wait to see how the end of the week goes for every one.

Ouizoid, I was curious about inventing the potato diet. How did you come up with it? Accidentally eat potatoes for a few days and lose weight? or...
I'm curious!

I'm reading "Always Hungry" and just stumbled on a part that says white potatoes raise blood glucose and insulin more than ice cream or white bread. Does the cooling part/resistant starch stop that from happening?

I didn't Invent the potato diet!! Lots of people did this, including Otzi who made it famous over on Marks Daily Apple. My idea was to use the potato hack for a down day

Good Morning potato people

My weigh in this morning, after two day on the hack: 129lbs/-1.5lb/-3lb hack loss so far.

Very pleased with how it's going so far and I plan on doing today/tomorrow yet, and then maybe a few days next week as well. My goal is to get closer to the mid-point range of my maintenance window, at around 125lbs. It would be lovely to see 128lbs yet this week

Hopefully others are having good weigh-ins today!

Here's a good article from the New York Times that goes into this a bit more, looks like the book you're reading may be a bit off

Whoosh!!! Thank god! I was about to print a picture of a potato and use my left over potatoes to throw at it!!! Lol! I was so angry last night, I was for sure gonna call it quits today and then 4.8lbs gone! I even ate about a cup of plain white rice that my toddler didn't want to eat as my before bed meal ,cause I was hungry but didn't want to peel and cook a potato. I had read people used rice too on the hack so since I was so grumpy and ready to throw in the towel I just ate it and figured what could it hurt.

So anywho I'm going to continue on , I'll at least do one more day maybe two but I'm still bloated and gassy and I hate feeling this way. I really need to get a dr appointment to see if I have SIBO. Anywho check back in later gotta get the kids to school!
