Good evening everyone!

Hope the weekend treated you well! I decided to have a treat meal on Friday. Boy, was I sick after. I could barely move, nauseous, the whole nine yards. Who knew one small milkshake could do that?

I finally weighed myself today. Admittedly it was like 4pm, I had eaten two full meals, drank 2 cups of coffee, 2 litres of water and 2 diet pops, hadn't visited the ladies room in a couple days if you know what I mean (TMI), and had my clothes on. My mom said she hadn't changed the batteries in her scale in like 6 years. Not ideal circumstances. But I weighed in at 236, which is 16lbs over what I had hoped for. At first I was quite upset, but it is what it is. Even accounting for all those handicaps, I still probably would have weighed in at 230 in the morning. I'm still surprised but also not. I really did myself in last year. Maybe it was some sort of subconscious punishment. I have no idea. My before and after pics don't lie. Which tells me I was MUCH larger than I originally had though - maybe 250? Ugh.

Either way, I'm already on the right track. My treat meal reaffirmed for me not only that I need this WOE for my back to be in less pain, but to also live a happier, easier life. I spent the whole night after almost throwing up. I broke out in pimples. My arthritis flared up. It was awful. Not interested in any treats any time soon.

Looking forward to finishing my semester this week. Business is starting to pick up a little bit so that stress is easing. I know February will be a good month. My goal is to hit 215 by Feb 28. I'm watching the swimsuit competition on Miss Universe right now. Oh, how I do love to make myself feel bad!

Good morning,

Had the munchies last night so broke down and ate veggie straws. Also had BBQ sauce for dinner. DS wanted something bbq so he went with me to the store and we got chicken, wine and bbq sauce. I know so bad right? None of the sauces were low in carb. I said go for it and have it this once enjoy the night and get back at it tomorrow so I did. It will set me back with weight and water gain and maybe kick me out of ketosis, but I am ok right now with that. Now it's Monday and time to start over. Bring on Feb. I am looking forward to the month. I haven't been in the 160's in so long. I will go back and look, but it's all me. We are all moving down. Maybe not as fast as we like and yes cheating from time to time, but we can do this.

Hello, I've just ordered the New Atkins New You book and I'm planning on starting tomorrow. Not sure how the book differs from DANDR? I'm guessing protein might be limited as it is on Keto? Looking forward to getting started.

Good morning everyone. Happy Monday! (Ugh!) Winter Mondays are the hardest for me - it's cold and dark, makes me just want to stay in bed and stay there until Spring!

I had a good day eating and drinking yesterday but I think my vitamins are bothering me. Stomach aches 2 days in a row. I'm going to skip the pills completely today and then just add back a few tomorrow that will prevent the leg cramps.

BTW - has anyone tried cooking radishes yet??? they are surprisingly good and I hate raw radishes! a little potato-y. I pan fried them last night but I think they'd be better roasted in the oven to dry them out a little more.

Makemeslim - It's been so long since I read the New You book and I don't remember the difference. I think it might be net carb counting and the carb ladder theory (green veggies first, then berries?) Let us know when you read it and what you think

Pam - definitely! this is going to be a good February!

Amera - don't stress about the stupid scale! I heard a phrase this weekend on a podcast that made me laugh "Give your scale to a neighbor that you don't like"

Ameenah - yay!!! I think maintenance is so much harder than the losing phase - you're doing great and figuring out how to really live with this WOE

Rachel - the chai sounds fabulous in BPT! I have some Valentine Day chocolate flavored tea that I want to try too! nom nom nom

B: BPT
L: chicken thighs, sauerkraut and butter
D: ham, spaghetti squash, roasted radishes and butter
Diet Coke: 2

Good morning all! I didn't get to weigh yesterday morning but I did this mornig and I'm up. But I'm not surprised. I did have some wine Saturday night and I've had a really bad cold all weekend and been taking cold medicine. I'm retaining a ton of fluid right now, I can feel it. Hopefully if I can skip the cold meds today and get in enough water I'll see some downward motion again. I'm not going to finish as low as I was hoping for January but hopefully I can get close to 140 by the end of February.

Krista - I've done radishes before and I thought they were pretty good! I sliced them thin and kind of pan fried them in butter. They were just kind of a pain in the butt to fool with though. I should do them again sometime though and just get the already sliced ones to make it easier.

Well, I need to get moving on school work, I came home yesterday and instead of school work I started researching spring break options. I need some warm sun in my life!

Good morning beauties

Amera You are so brave to weigh under those conditions. Whenever I weigh during the day, fully dressed and after eating the scale becomes my enemy. I normally weigh in the morning with nothing on and after using the potty. If I weigh after having breakfast and fully dressed there is absolutely a jump. Hang in there, I bet your number is much, much lower. I too am learning that carbs are not my friend and I feel horrible when I eat too many.

Pam I agree, February is going to be our month

MMS . I'm not sure of the difference between the two. Best of luck to you. You have come to a great place

Krista_linn Thanks for your kind words. Maintenance is very hard but I think I am getting the hang of it. I am not a fan of radishes so I have no input to offer. I just noticed that you had made goal last week. Congrats

kt_mom I hope you are feeling better. I felt horrible this weekend and spent Saturday and Sunday in bed. I had plenty of cough syrup and cough drops. It never occurred to me that it would affect my weight. Duh. I had a slight increase even though I ate on plan and now it makes sense.

Slight increase but will take it. I am close enough to my maintenance range and I know February will be a better month. I had quite a few cheats throughout the month and I have to remember that my choices, good or bad, will affect my weight.

Hoping to see you all along with some new members next month. Fingers crossed for a nice whoosh tomorrow. Have a great Monday beauties

Hey everyone,

Sorry I was MIA over the weekend. I usually don't fire up my computer on weekends and I was just feeling lazy about typing everything out on my phone lol. I had a nice weekend; went out to dinner on Saturday night and had some alcoholic beverages. Definitely seeing that one-day-delay in the jump on the scale today. I did manage to get out to walk each day over the weekend despite the cold, so I feel good about that. Hoping for a whoosh again soon.

Ameenah - I was catching up on what I missed over the weekend and I like your attitude about the maintenance range. I am similar in that I am very close to my maintenance range too, usually about a pound or so outside of it. As long as my clothes fit the same, does it really matter if I'm at the low end or the high end of my range? I shouldn't beat myself up because I'm one pound above my range. Like you said, you're close enough, and I need to remind myself to look at my weight similarly. I think both of us have done a good job maintaining our weight this month. Aside from a couple fluctuations, we always got right back on track. Ever since we hit our goals, our bodies have adjusted to maintenance and are probably settling into a weight they are comfortable at. Besides, things don't always follow a "textbook" and are as simple as hitting your goal and staying at exactly that weight. We both know we could get really strict to see those lower numbers again if we wanted to, but as long as we are maintaining long-term, I call that success!!!!

Amera - isn't it funny how the scale can be such an enemy and yet a friend at the same time? I suppose it is helpful to use it as a checkpoint of where you're at, even though we all know in pictures or in our clothes, we can tell when we've gone off track. At the same time it also serves as a reminder, even if it makes us feel bad, that we can get in control and change things for the better. I'm guilty of watching some of those things on TV too, like the Victoria's Secret fashion show, usually while stuffing my face with snacks!!!! LOL But I always remind myself that the people who do those types of things for a living spend their whole job getting into shape and maintaining it. If we all had the luxury of getting paid to get up and go to the gym, and have someone tell us exactly what exercises to do, and have someone tell us exactly what to eat every day and when, and even provide the right food for us, I think we'd all have an easier time!!! We are all doing great by coming here regularly and making the efforts that we have to change our bad eating habits.

Kelly. I have to thank Pam for her kind words about a week ago. She made me aware that I have been doing great and even though I may be off by a pound or so I am very close to my maintenance range. This is one of the reasons why I love you all so much. The motivation and support is like no other and has definitely helped me through some tough times. Being so close to maintenance, I too have realized that as long as my clothes still fit well and I feel good then I shouldn't worry about it. We definitely know what we need to do to stay within range but we also enjoy a few cheats every once and a while. This is our WOE for life and I believe that if we don't give in to a cheat from time to time we will give in and end up going completely off plan. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND BRING ON FEBRUARY

Thanks!

I remember reading Dr. Atkin's telling us to only allow a 5 lbs gain from our goal weight. If we get to 5lbs then jump back on clean eating. Made so much sense to me. Weird the things I remember, but once I get to my goal weight I know I will relax a bit so to know the 5lbs statement will help in maintenance.
I think you both have handled maintenance AWESOMELY!!!!! (if that's a word)

Totally! That's my normal weighing routine. Next time I will borrow her scale for a night so I can weigh in the AM at my house. Or maybe I'll just buy one then. That's exactly why I threw my scale away! I used to get upset if it went up and then emotional ate because what was the point? Totally self-destructive circle. I didn't do that yesterday, though.

I'm sure my real number is significantly lower. Which means when I weigh at the end of Feb, it will be that much lower and I will be feeling even better physically! End of Feb goal is 215, birthday goal end of March is 199. WOOO!

I normally don't eat dairy when I'm Atkins-ing but I did most of January and I'm convinced that slowed me down and kept me bloated. I'll be dairy free from now on, and have been for like 5 days, with the exception of my terrible milkshake treat. I'm also going to make my portion sizes a bit smaller. I'm worried I might be over going a bit too crazy on the LCHF foods.

You are so right! One of the girls apparently works out 30 hours a week. I do school for 50 hours a week, plus work part-time, plus take care of our dogs...

I was talking to my boyfriend while watching it, and his first response was "You're my Miss Universe" which of course had me like

I'm feeling super motivated for Feb this month! One more final exam on Wednesday and my next semester starts. It's going to be a GREAT semester, much better than my first. NO emotional eating and happy Amera!

Hi, all!. I got behind and had to go back like 4 days to catch up - I had so many comments back to each of your posts, but I lost track!

Welcome to MakeMeSlim! This is such a good group - I still come here for encouragement even though I'm maintaining.

Ameenah and Kelly - you are both so close to maintenance and just bouncing around a bit, so I'd day keep doing what you're doing and I'll bet that you'll drop again as you throw in some intermittent fasting or a few days of egg fast.... Then you'll maintain a little lower, and do that every few months, just to keep things interesting. I'm always challenging myself in one way or another.

Step challenge update: I am at 196.15 miles for January! I only have to get 10k steps today to hit 200 miles for January month-end! That wasn't a goal, but I'm pretty happy with it! My dad will be having surgery in February, so I am anticipating not having as many very active days. I only had 2 days below 10k steps in January. I'm not going to obsess over the numbers though.

I hope you all finish strong and February will be awesome! My favorite holiday is groundhogs day, so I'm looking forward to that and superbowl this coming weekend! Remember to have low carb football snacks so it's not an excuse to go crazy!!!

Finishing January at 148. Kind of disappointed because I was down to 146.4 and went up this weekend. I've still got the cold but didn't take anything yesterday in hopes of the scale going back down. And it did a little bit but I was hoping for more. Oh well February is a new month! We are supposed to go to a Super Bowl Party on Sunday and my plan for now is to fill my Yeti up with La Croix and just sip on that and stay away from the beer and wine. I need a weekend where I don't mess up and set myself back. I'd really like to see the 130's in February.

Good morning beauties

Happy last day of January.

Amera I admire you for not weighing every day . I actually tried that and it worked against me. When I finally got on the scale I was about 4lbs heavier. I am one of those people that needs to weigh daily. I am obsessed with my scale. That was such a sweet comment from your boyfriend.

Pam Great job remaining in ketosis. We are definitely going to rock out this coming month.

Casey Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking that I would try an egg fast in the next week or so. Congrats on your steps. You have been doing great

Kt_mom You had an awesome month. You should be so proud of yourself.

Looks like I won't see the 140s this month but I am optimistic that February is going to be our month. I had to laugh at myself this morning because I got on and off the scale about 5 times in hopes that it would drop into the 140s but nope it was 150,150,150,150,150. . I am close enough to my maintenance range and even though I only lost a total of 2lbs for the month at least I didn't gain anything. Like many of you I am so looking forward to the month of February and a new beginning. See you over at the February Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Yep, last day of the month already, hard to believe! I decided not to weigh today, because I have PMS and am retaining so much water, I already know I'm up from even yesterday. I will start with a fresh outlook tomorrow. January wasn't the greatest month for me, and I ended with some gains, but overall based on the few whooshes I had, I do believe this higher weight on the scale (136+) is all water. Hopefully I'll see another nice whoosh soon, and be able to get back in better control for February.

Casey - way to go on the Step goal! I'm a bit behind you, I'm finishing January with about 170 miles. Still on track to hit the 2017 by year end at that pace, but I didn't get my 10k or above every single day at the beginning of January. Next week will be challenging, because I've got a couple days of all-day team meetings, which means I won't get my normal chance to work out on my lunch break. I selfishly hate days like that!!!

Hi everyone - last day to check in for January. I am happy that I met my goal but looking forward to starting February with a woosh. That scale owes me at least 1 pound loss soon

I finally scheduled my long overdue yearly physical for the beginning of April. The last time I went in was 3 years ago. I had lost some weight on the Dukan diet and was super proud of myself - I gained all of that back and didn't wanted to go back in until I was back to the same weight. So much badness in this story! So my appointment is set and I will go in no matter what. But hopefully I can lose a few more pounds between now and then.

B: BPT
L: salami slices
D: bolognese meat "sauce" and mushrooms with butter
Diet Coke: 2

January Goal: <191 lbs

Jan 1: 196.4 . . . . Jan 21: 192.0
Jan 2: 195.4 . . . . Jan 22: 191.8
Jan 3: 195.4 . . . . Jan 23: 191.2
Jan 4: 195.4 . . . . Jan 24: 190.8
Jan 5: 194.8 . . . . Jan 25: 190.0
Jan 6: 194.2 . . . . Jan 26: 189.2
Jan 17: 194.2 . . . Jan 27: 189.2
Jan 18: 194.4 . . . Jan 28: 190.0
Jan 19: 195.4 T . . Jan 29: 190.4
Jan 20: 193.6 . . . Jan 30: 190.4 . . . Jan 31: 190.6

Morning lovelies!

Ameenah - he is truly the most incredible man I have ever met. He loves me no matter what. I guess that's the point of finding "the one". When we met in 2014 I was about 180lbs and always did my hair and makeup and always was dressed up to the 9s in sky high heels. Now I barely leave the house and I'm usually in a long dress and cardigan or yoga pants and a hoodie with my hair up and stress pimples. And he still is all over me. LOL! Now to be fair, when I do dress up, watch out. I just have different priorities now. The librarian doesn't care if I have makeup on or not, neither do the baristas at my local coffee shop.

--

I had a rough night last night. My antibiotics I'm on for a scalp infection I got at a spa gave me crazy stomach pain. I'm super sensitive to all antibiotics since I had another infection after a surgery last May and was on like 10 different kinds via IV. I ended up having to eat a few pieces of wheat cereal to calm it. Not ideal but it was excruciating so I did what I had to.

I did my measurements this morning and it's interesting how my body has changed from when I was in my early 20s. My hips are a lot wider now despite my waist being the same size as then. I'm determined to be more serious this time and lose the weight more quickly. I know it's important not to rush but I just hate not feeling like myself, and not recognizing the girl in the mirror. I really start to feel better around the 180 mark. Can't wait for my Feb 28 weigh in! It WILL be 215 or less.

Today will be lots of studying. Last final is tomorrow. WOOO!

Menu for today
B: 2 bacon, 2 eggs, trying to eat smaller portions so no more 3 and 3, BIG black coffee
L: fast
D: Going to red lobster with the fam. Looking forward to some butter shrimp and veggies! but none of my fave cheddar biscuits. SAD AMERA!

i should be jumping for joy for a 6.8 lb loss in a month, but january has been frustrating.

in the past week: stopped working out. focused on clean food, and lack thereof. had to trick my body into thinking i didn't need the fat, so there. back in ketosis, and desperate doing IF in the final days. i need to shed to 148.8 by tomorrow so i don't lose $40!!
