Sure hope John is back home without any real problems.

We have single digits again this am, 9║ now but will warm up next week. Forecast says 60s one day but plenty of rain. That is ok and better than snow.

Will BBL

Hi to all that follow.

Good morning,

21 degrees, but I've just got to remember that it's temporary. Hard to do with chattering teeth, though

Didn't get to make the soup yesterday, so will do that today, along with making a sausage and peppers dish. If it reaches the 40s this afternoon, I would like to go to the gym for a little while.

Hope to finish up a book I've been reading this evening 'Boar Island'.

Take care everyone!
Michele

Sure hope we hear good news about John, so scarey. DH had to go to hospital for severe pain in foot and found out it was gout. He took something for that till he passed.
The concert was ok, it was NOT Neil Diamond and you could tell. I believe I'd rather pay more money and get the real thing. We had a good time tho'.
A gal from the hospital came and picked me up yesterday and we went out to Chili's for lunch, that was nice.
Today my friend (that passed out in her garage) is coming with her daughter (friend not allowed to drive for 2 more months) and wer're going out for dinner.
It was 37 here this morning, too cold for me, don't like it one bit!

good morning you all.. Sending good thoughs and prayers to Babette and her husband John. I understand the worries.. and concerns..
And yes.. as we get older.. it seems if its not one thing its another.
One of the reason my hubby "Mike" and I are back on Atkins. He just started to take meds for his high BP and Cholesterol. and the ONLY time he values where NORMAl was when we did Aktins WOL
Its cold but sunny and dry here in West El Paso. I am going to pick up my grandbabies.. 2 and 4 and take them to church with me. My son just got devorced last year.. and this is the weekend he has the kids. He will join us for the service.. I go to bible school and the girls enjoy their little play groups and children chapel. Their mother is not going to any church.. and so its nice my son brings the girls when he has them.
I am taking an atkins bar.. because I know my tummy will be growling and grumbling other wise during the service.
Today starts week 2 for us on LC and Atkins.. and I am feeling SOOO MUCH BETTER already..
You all have a great sunday!

9F up here right now, it's warmed up from -7F overnight and that is without the windchill.
But another bright and sunny day at least.

I am sure Babette is tired after the ordeal at the hospital. Sending you Big Gentle Hugs for strength. Do keep us posted, we are all thinking of you both.

Julie, wow that is cold for Florida huh?

Michele, We too are in the deep freeze for a week so we just have to grin and bear it. Ha! This too will pass... Your cooking plans sound so tasty and delish!

Ginny, Enjoy all these outings and being chauffeured around. Some benefits to enjoy!

Loretta, Lucky you a day in the 60s this week. Enjoy!

Doris, Is Silas being a good boy for his grandma? More Disney shows.

Bonehenge, Glad to have you onboard. Enjoy those grandbabies today.

I am so sorry for not posting last night, but I was so tired.

First, Welcome Monika and welcome back Beachy Woman.

John was in the ER for almost 5 hours yesterday and didn't get home til very late afternoon. They did Xrays and an ultrasound but could not determine the cause of the pain which is still no better. Pretty much all they did was determine it was NOT a blood clot or fracture (he hadn't fallen or twisted his foot) and sent him home. He has a history of gout, but they said it wasn't gout without explanation. They did not do any blood work. So we are using our illegal Canadian creams on his foot which help a little.

But this experience nudges me towards the high rise senior housing I dread, but realize after days like this, is more and more necessary. This is a fairly big house, 3000 square feet on two floors. The laundry room is downstairs while the main floor has most used living areas. When he got home, I wanted to do laundry, as after 5 hours in the ER with so many people having colds and flu symptoms, I wanted to sterilize his clothes, but I can no longer carry a laundry basket down the stairs....that's his job. In the high rise, all is on one floor and each unit has its own laundry "closet."
I'll talk myself into it......

Hello, glad to hear back from Babette, but MAN, not good that no cause found for John's foot pain! No blood test done, did they run urine test at least? And they will charge as much as they can for whatever they did, too. What is John's next move? What can you do about getting the laundry done, Babette? Yes, these health situations makes we older folk need to take a hard look at our daily living arrangements. We were so glad the kids picked this larger house with room enough for an extra hospital bed, a person doesn't think about needing that kind of thing, and I did have to have grab bars in both bathrooms. Have you had any "lookers" or interest shown in your house yet. A move of some kind will have to happen, just to make the chores easier, even if not to that senior place. Hard decision no matter what.

Hi Glenda, we mostly Chit Chat here these past years, glad to see you again. Do you still have those ponds to deal with?

Hi Monika, guess you are not too cold down there near El Paso. Have a good day.

Michele, hope you get your food stuff done and feel up to finishing your book.

Oh, I noticed that Whidbey Island show on HGTV "island Life" is on again tonight, check your local listings....at least it shows it being on again on my menu here at home. I'm going to watch again.

Ginny, I wondered about that Neil Diamond imposter, thought he might be like the Elvis impersonators, lol! Was it expensive? Glad you are getting out and about and having some good meals I thought about that foot pain being gout, too.

Julie, keep that heater going another night, but it will pass for you Floridians.

Susan, at least you have SUN to help melt some of the icy spots. Do you have cleats for some of your shoes?

Loretta, we are warming up by Tuesday and also looking for some rain, hope it's a worthwhile amount.

Silas had pancakes and orange juice this morning, a lot for him. Autistic kids are supposed to be picky and he is true to that theory for sure.

Kids coming later to bring dinner and pick Silas up.

My Calif. relatives and friends are flooding out, after years of drought! Isn't that Mother Nature in her glory?

Just came to check if Babette had checked in.
I'm So sorry after you long ordeal to hear you got no result on the pain.
I am glad at least that you have something to keep John comfortable.

I hear you on streamlining our living arrangements. House and Garden maintenance are my issues. I think we have to find the next home and location that suits our individual needs.

Glad to see you back Glenda. What did you do to your back?

I have cleats Doris, but I hardly wear them, my boots do a good job in the snow. I avoid the ice, never try to walk in that.

It is going dark already up here. Time to put the lights on. Ha!

So nice to hear from you Glenda. LOL I would imagine sitting on the computer is NOT comfortable. You might try a chair next time. Be patient with yourself and the mending. Takes time. Glad you checked in.

Never did go to Pot Luck just went right to un decorating church. We saved the rough stuff for those that showed up after the pot luck to help. Got out of there by 1:30

Begete did they put John on any rx?

Monika, glad to hear that you are feeling better. We have a daily exercise thread and also a daily menu thread if you care to join in.

Thanks for the concert report Ginny, sorry you were disappointed but Neil would be a tough act to follow. We had an Elvis impersonator a while back. The show was held outside at the court square in the summer time. The whole event was a pleasure. We brought out lawn chairs. He wasn't bad or maybe just hearing some of those old tunes was a treat.

.
thanks I will check it out.. anything that keeps me focused and motivated is apreciated..
We had a quiet day here... went to church with the kids and grandkids.. and then to Ft bliss Commisary this afternoon.
I did OVEREAT for my afternoon snack.. ARGH
Portion control is my biggest problem.. I had way to much cheese and turkey deli.

Yes.. not to bad temperature wise here.. it was colder then usual but sunny and dry... and we should be warming up to the mid 60s next week

I do walk with my DH and my 2 youngest puppies.. 6mo old and 12mo old ..
and I go to Planet Fitness a few times a week.. doing their 30 min circuits and then .. something else.. eliptical or treadmill or the even stairmaster..

Tonight I am making chicken breast.. topped with green chilies and cheese.. and a side salad.
Breakfast is my biggest challenge.. don't want to get tired of eggs.
