That sounds great.

My plan for today is:
Breakfast was just coffee with HWC and stevia
Lunch, a plain chicken thigh
dinner:steak, salad with a vinaigrette dressing, some other veggie
snack: pickles and olives

I am also headed to the store for supplies.

Great!

Looks like you did well today!

Here is what I ended up eating:
Bulletproof coffee
Steak with warm chive and onion cream cheese (this tasted really good together!)
Atkins Coconut Bar
Bacon with a little mayo
Atkins Chocolate Peanuts
Steak

I did get 10,000+ steps at work.

I didn't make it to the store but will go tomorrow. I am off the next 2 days.
The steak was a splurge. Tomorrow I will be buying eggs, chicken, ground beef, greens and veggies.

Have you tried the Atkins rolls? I bought some cream of tartar and will make some tomorrow.

I may not do this by the book for the first few days. I still have food from when I started last week that is high fat/low carb and don't want to just throw it out. I will probably cut out the Atkins snacks, too. I tend to binge on them. I ate FOUR of them yesterday! I will be ready to do this by the book in a few days.

A question. I have no idea where my 1972 book. Do you think I can get by with the info on here?

Wendy, Ava Cado, and Kristina are you still doing this? I am reading and learning from your older posts. Hope to see you all posting.

Looks like Ava Cado is in Disney. Have fun!

Anyone want to get this board chattering again? I am going to start posting here, if its just me thats okay I had great success with Atkins 72 in 2011/12... I lost 30 pounds pretty fast and kept it steady for a year to walk down the isle. Then I gain it back, then I lost it again doing Stillmans and Medi. I need to get back to a low carb routine...I enjoy Atkins 72, nothing to over think. Today I stocked up at the grocery store, and will weigh in tomorrow am. Eggs, a rottisrie chicken, some frozen turkey burgers, unsweetened iced tea, smoked salmon.

Yes I am doing A72 as well. I have no idea how much I weigh as my scale got old and useless so I threw it away and have no desire to replace it.

I do eat one thing that was not on the list of foods and that's shirataki noodles. But not that often.

Today I've had a grilled burger with a fried egg on top. For lunch I had some creamed cabbage with bacon and chicken.

Hi Emerald - glad to have company! I got caught up with work this morning (I work from home) and then I ate breakfast, and forgot i wanted to weigh myself before eating anything - so I am just going to weigh in tomorrow. Might be a blessing that your scale isn't working! Just go by how clothes fit - its probably less torture

Today I had smoked salmon and black coffee for breakfast. For lunch I had home made soup...chicken, dill, low sodium broth (pretty basic). For dinner I might make tuna salad. I had a diet coke mid-day.

The only thing I keep on hand thats not part of the original 72 plan are the atkins shakes. I don't drink them often (like MAYBE one a week), but in a pinch when I am low on groceries or in a hurry I feel like its better than a total cheat food.

I'd love to join you all. I've been on '72 since Tuesday the third. DH is joining me. Last week we were pretty strict induction. This week we plan to add a little broccoli, some salad tomatoes and green onions. I know, we live on the edge, huh? I lost 4# the first 5 days and DH lost 3.9#.

I also practice Intuitive Eating (IE). I usually only have coffee with cream in the morning and than have my first snack around 11 or 12. Never thought I could do that. I just started trying to put as many hours between last meal and first, and not eating until I was really hungry and it just happened.

Right now we're eating a lot of meat salads (meat, mayo and a little pickle, celery or radish), meat and salad for dinner and in between snacks are occasional cheese sticks, pork skins, olives, egg salad or leftover meat.

Hi All!
I just started again today. I followed Atkins '72 but I don't remember the zero carbs.
I have lost about 10 lbs, but have 20 to go and Im finding it hard to stay focused
Im hoping I can use you all as my support and accountability :O
Weight loss is hard no matter how much you need to lose

I was posting on a low carb following on Facebook but I do not like the whole world to know my personal issues
that is the biggest reason Im back here, privacy and support

Will need to be more strict with my meal choices from today forward
Breakfast: 3oz rock fish, 3T hwc, coffee, 1 fried egg in bacon grease
Lunch: 2 cloud bread, 9 slices thin lunch meat, 1/2 cup loaded cauliflower
dinner: hamburger patty, cheese, ranch, green salad

See you all tomorrow
Bye

Cloud Bread:
Soft airy, fluffy wafer type bread that melts in your mouth.
practically carb free

3 eggs, separated
3 Tablespoons cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon baking powder or cream of tartar

Oven: 300 degrees
Separate the eggs, no yolks in the white at all
add cream of tartar or baking powder and whip till firm peaks
in other bowl
egg yolks, cream cheese, mix till creamy looking

slowly fold the egg yolk mix into the fluffy egg whites

spoon onto a lightly greased baking sheet
will make about 10 rounds
bake about 1/2 hour till golden brown

as they cool on a rack the rounds will become semi hard and you can use them for
hamburger bums, tuna wraps or what ever you would use bread for

you can add sweetener or savory spices to the mix if you want

Hello

Hi there
I've wandered over here after a month on the new Atkins 20. I did great for two weeks and then totally stalled. I looked back on what I had done and was stunned at how many real carbs I was still eating, though I was keeping my net carbs in the correct range. I've now ordered the original Atkins book. Also switched to the Livestrong food tracker as the one on Atkins site was way too restrictive. This week I am hoping to keep to the original induction or at least stay below 5 total carbs a day.

I done better with a slow simple start. I am sure the new plans work for many people but for me, I have to start low and slow. On 72, I get rid of the cravings and the bloat faster. I lose the desire to eat things off plan.
I use fat secret to track. I agree the tracker at Atkins just is not up to par.
I only count total carbs. I feel it works best for me even if I work up the ladder.

I started with a clean start on Jan 18th. I had been muddled and lost my way. I had to stop breathe and jump back to 72. It is what I did in 93 when I first found Dr Atkins and it worked amazing and I lost weight without effort and kept it off for a long time 10 years until I had my babies
I had horrible pregnancies ballooned up to 278 and then lost 96 lbs and stayed there a good while until the hormones hit and I had some horrible life issues and I just lost my way. I gave up on me. This year I just decided at 50 it is time to take my life back. I have to get back to me. So I started and have lost 12.5 lbs already.
Glad to have some buddies along the way!

Back On Plan!

Hi, everyone, and thanks for letting me share this journey with you! I've lost 60 lbs with Atkins in the past, but the last few years have found the pounds creeping back on, so I've tried Induction a few times but with more stalls and disappointments than not.

I would really love to experience the kind of weight loss I did when I tried Atkins the first time. I've heard that going back to the Atkins '72 plan might be the key to making it work this time for me. I'm most interested in any A72 approved recipes--I know there aren't a great deal of allowed foods in the '72 version, so learning some tasty recipes will really help me to create my new meal plan and grocery list.

Thanks so much in advance for any tips and info!

Hi everyone,

I was an the new atkins 20 plan last may - October and lost almost 50 pounds. Once I reached my goal of vacation and weddings I then went buck wild on eatting everything in site. Started back on that Atkins Jan 6th and did fine the first 2 weeks and then have been stalled for over a month. Did an egg fast this week and TODAY I start Atkins 72. I'm hoping being stricter will help jump start my weight lose again. I'm turning 40 end of April and really want to be down 30 pounds by then but this month stall has me very discouraged.

B 5 strips Bacon
L Alot of naked chicken wings
D ?

Talk with you guys soon Maria

I did A'72 in 2005-2007 and lost 100#.

Life got in the way.

Ready to start it up again! I always felt great when I ate this way, so no idea why I keep straying away....

Ahoy Atkins 72 Mates

Having a great day hope everyone else is. I tried something new for brunch today, I thought I would share it. I cooked 3 oz. of ground turkey with 1 tbsp. olive oil added 2 sm. green onions , then added 2 beaten eggs and scrambled it, then I added 2oz. of sharp cheddar and let it melt. I topped it off with a tbsp. of salsa and I ate like I had never had food. It was great!!!

Hello All, Is anyone else doing the 72 Induction all the way through till you get to goal weight. I am hoping to stay with it as long as I can because the rate of weight loss is so much better for me. I love Veggies so only a 2 cup salad a day is hard, I started today alternating the one salad a day with a cup of mustard greens, that was glorious.

My plan is to do a combination of Egg Fast and A72 until I reach goal weight. Trying to keep things as simple as possible and stick to what I know has worked for me in the past.

Yes. I did this in 93 and the 2002 plan isn't much different. It is just a quicker start.
In 72 you start basically no carb the first week but the second week you are supposed to move to 5 carbs a week.

2002, they started counting net carbs and started at 20, but you don't have to move up as fast.
The plan is meant to move though all phases.
So I started with my reset in January. I started with 72 and moved up 5 carbs at a time.
I still count total carbs not net though I do track both.
I am down 25 lbs in 7 weeks.

Atkins works best if you do it the way you are supposed to. When you start making it your own most people take the "plan" out of the plan and struggle more.

Thanks for answering the Post!! I'm so happy not to be struggling to much. I am still staying with induction With just the one modification of mustard greens now and again. I have to say I have done well 33 pounds since 1/25/17. I don't find it easy to follow the rules all the time but sometimes it works out to be a nonconformist. Glad everything is working out for you, 25 pounds is fantastic. Time will tell if my choices were prudent but my morale is through the roof!!!

Hi Everyone- So glad to have joined and see this thread was started up again. Love how members are posting their meals. Thank you! It' very helpful to see I'm "doing it right". Starting back on '72 as I have found more modern LC meal plans have not been working lately. I'm 55 and just starting with perimenopause symptoms and it's thrown my weight loss for a loop. I'm completely stalled after an 8lb loss over 2 months but feel that my body is just taking a LONG time to adjust....
