Thanks, Carly! It wasn't so long ago that I was pouring over your lab numbers, and thinking, "Yeah! That's so cool. I can do that!"

My biggest non-scale victory remains my blood pressure remaining normal. My second largest non-scale victory is now purchasing large shirts rather than XL last year.

Victory might not be the best word--perhaps more of a surprise. I've felt that I've been slipping--I didn't like my eating habits and I hadn't weighed for over a month. In other words I was falling into the kind of avoidant behavior that has not been good for me in the past. So yesterday morning when I put on a pair of pants that I have in both a 2 and a 4 and they were tight at the top, producing the little roll at the top, I was sure they were the 4s. They still fit well enough, and I knew they'd relax enough to be comfortable. I decided to wear them as a warning to myself that I had to get serious or I would size myself out of my favorite clothing.

So this evening when I took them off? You can already guess the punchline. They were the size 2s.

I'm big into cause and effect, so I don't want to say that the fact that I've maintained pretty decently even while I felt I was slipping is a complete mystery. I think it's that the habits that I've developed in the last three years are now ingrained enough with me that I never really go away from them entirely.

What a great post Utah. I am so delighted to read this. As a maintainer it is easy to let things slide a bit, but as you say, the good habits are pretty engrained.

Water Pills?

I've been seeing my doctor every two-three months since I started lchf in April. She's totally supportive! I've been losing ever so slowly, stalling for weeks at a time, staying under 20 g carbs religiously. Last week she checked my legs (I had laser ablation and schlerotherapy for varicose veins 5 years ago) and rated the pitting edema a 4! She says I probably have 5 pounds of water in my legs accumulated by the end of the day. I've been wearing compression sleeves since Friday and dropped 4 pounds almost over night. Here's my question: She wants me to go on a water pill. I'm scared to try them (it's a combo that is potassium sparing) I've just gotten over sleep interrupting leg cramps by drinking 32 oz. of water right before bedtime and I'm scared the water pills will make them come back. Is anyone taking them for this issue, as it's not medically necessary (bp and all other health stuff just fine) She just prescribed them for the edema. I also would consider taking them a few days a week, like the days I'm not as active- but I've read the side effects and they panic me! Help please!!

I know nothing about water pills. If you still have concerns or questions it's best that you speak with your doctor to get more info.

I was swamped at work on Thursday, so couldn't take a walk all the way there at lunch. Yesterday was a combo of social plans a resting, so I'll see if I feel like it on the 2nd.

FBG was 81 at 6 AM. That is the lowest FBG I've seen in 20 years. :-D

Question: I've noticed that my FBG always rises throughout the early morning, despite not ingesting anything. For example, it was up his morning to 91 by 7 AM (still excellent for me at this point). I understand that BG normally rises in the morning (since FBG is a measure of liver function, not pancreas), and that my experience is quite common. I'm just wondering if anybody knows which measurement means the most? Is there a set time of day that the medical folks consider the reading to go by?

So answering my own question, I guess it's all relative, and the point is to compare readings over time taken at the same time of day. :-)

FBG was 79 at 6 AM this morning. Damnation. Wasn't sure I'd ever see that again. Five days of nutri-keto. Bang.

I've mentioned before that since August 2016 I've been using facebook to share and celebrate my ongoing weight loss with my friends and relations. So many people have supported me with truly amazing love and affection throughout my life. This is my way of trying to pay them back, by involving them in my success.

I don't provide my actual weight, or the total lb lost since May 2015 (when I had my tipping point). I find that those numbers distract from the important points: that weight loss is possible, even for someone like me, and that it is a non-stop wonderful thing. But I wanted my friends to share in the experience on a tangible level, so I hit upon the idea of giving them the lb lost number, starting with my first facebook post on the subject. This has turned out to be a great idea; I always get dozens of happy responses to my posts, and I feel that I am able to spread the word about JUDDD and weight management and that it pretty much takes a village. So I consider it a non-scale victory.

I just posted my 10th update, and announced that I have lost 27 lb since August. I also posted a progression piccy that I thought would be fun to share here. The last piccy is a little larger in scale than the others (oops), but you get the drift.

Excelsior.

This is an Amazing thread and I am still left to read last 5-6 pages.

I thought of posting my first nsv after being inspired by reading all the great experiences/successes

Since last 6 months I was having these scalp bumps..quite painful sometimes..reason unknown. Since last couple of days I started noticing that 90% of it has vanished and rest are almost gone..so happy to get rid of annoying bumps on scalp

Edited to say "P0rtia you look awesome"
