Welcome to JUDDD HokeyMum, I eat lowish carb these days, but not zero carb. Love the freedom of JUDDD and fasting.

Thank you Carly, Kissa and Portia. Carly, yours was another story that inspired me, because of our similar height and age bracket .... pOrtia, wow, you have had amazing results too! I look forward to trying all the great new recipes I have found on here, although it seems strange to suddenly count calories for my DD days after all the LC-ing I did! Thanks again for the warm welcome, I appreciate it.

to both of you! Read all the sticky threads and Google "Dr. Johnson Up day Down Day Diet" and use the calculator on his site to get your calories.

Post and read frequently!

Newbie...

Hi and hugs from very icy (at the moment) Chicago area.

Intermittent fasting has been brewing inside me for several years. I just signed on (guessing my sign on and password) and it said I was last here in 2013. I'm morbidly obese. Have been since I was 6. I've been over 250 most of my adult life (with just one second that I was just barely a size 18 so I had that one experience of buying a dress I really actually liked ...after being on the RICE diet (rice and fruit). I am now 62 and 262 pounds.

I won't write a novel but I ended up in the hospital last month (all ended up being fine) but it was a big wake up call for me. We care for our 6 yr old (autistic) grandson and 4 year old granddaughter. I'm tired of being tired...and I'm tired of wishing things could be different. Easy trap to fall into with "excuses".

I know that I saw a great amount of support here and people that really cared and I know I can't go it alone. So I am so grateful that people exist that can walk on this journey with me.

I don't know what weight I can lose having Type 2 Diabetes and being 62 but I have to try to improve my life. I could live another 2 minutes and I could live another 30 years. Only God knows. And I don't want to live any that are given me being unwell for a preventable reason. Especially for the grandkids.

After reading Varaday's (sp?) on intermittent fasting, although I like to cook, I am going to begin by eating Lean Cuisine's on the down day/fasting day but any quick suggestions on what to eat besides those I would love. I will read the DD post for recipes but any quick ideas (Apple is 100 calories?). I already drink water exclusively.

Anyway, thank you for being there for all of us newbies and hopefully us newbies can support each other as we learn too.

Nancy

Welcome Nancy, I am so pleased that you have found your way here. Everyone on this part of the board is just lovely and so supportive. We are the JUDDD board but we all do kinds of methods that work for us. No one here is judgemental. What works for one doesn't always work for another.

We just want people to feel able to share their issues and we all do our best to help.

It sounds as if you have a very busy life and your good health will make things so much easier for you.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Nice to meet you, Nancy! I myself found my way here almost a year ago, and find the support and the opportunity to think out loud to be an essential element in staying on track.

We have a lot in common. I'm your age, and I was your size less than a year ago. My A1C topped out at 6.7. Now it's 5.5 and I weighed in at 181 lb this morning. Which is to say, it is doable, no matter age, weight, or BG. This place is a wealth of information, practical and theoretical. Welcome home.

Hello I am new here. I changed my WOE a little over 4 years ago. In my first 2 years I lost in the neighborhood of 80 lbs. I had a few stalls and I would switch from counting calories to low carb and my metabolism would restart. These last 2 years even though I have watched my WOE I have regained 22lbs. I had never heard of Juddd until yesterday so I have decided to give it a try and am excited about it. If I understand it correctly I have a 2 week induction period on dd to keep at 500 calories or less and I calculated on ud in the 1700 area calories. Any help on this will be appreciated

HELLO AND WELCOME NANCY AND HARLEY

Hey Nancy, I beat you, I'm gonna be 84 in Feb, if I can get over
this illness.

I came to LCF weighing 225 lbs. I am 4 10" 3/4 Oh I'm almost
4'11"....That's quite a lot more than fluffy (what a stupid term).
I have type 2 diabetes.

Started with Atkins for induction and just proceeded staying mostly
20 25 grams carb a day. I am now about 149. It has taken me years.
but I didn't gain from 108 to 225 overnight either.

I read Dr. Berstein's books and recipes for diabetics.
All of Atkins stuff. My main stay has been LCF.
Last but not least, I found JUDDD.

Stick around, we will love and support you.

No, you need to go to the main JUDDD Forum page and you will find a thread called January Daily Chat. Someone cleverer than I am may be able to post a link to it...

Ok, I'll say Hi lol. I've been lurking for a month now. I lost about 50 lbs doing low carb years ago, and found judd when I couldnt stand the low carb anymore. I found I was able to maintain even while adding the carbs back in so I was happy with that at the time.

Of course as you can guess, I eventually stopped judding too but the weight didn't come right back so I was ok with that. I was around 225, still heavy but not desperate enough to worry about it. I was working as a waitress, very physically active job, and had new grandchildren to chase around.

A couple years ago, I got laid off and decided to be a stay at home grandma babysitting the little ones. Gradually the weight crept back up to what I'm ashamed to say was my original starting weight of 265.

January 9th I finally stepped on the scale and faced it, started judd that day. Today was 255 after my first potato hack day yesterday. I'm happy with 10 lbs in the first month as I've been finding my way around to a setup that works for me and experimenting a little.

I told myself I'm ok with a single pound a week (of course i'm not lol) but in a year that would be 52 lbs gone. Who could be mad about that?

I'm currently doing Sunday up(2200), Monday md(1200), Tuesday dd(50 coffee), Wed up(2200), Thurs dd(350), Friday ud (2200), Saturday dd (50 coffee)

And just to keep shaking things up this week I'm attempting the Potato hack lol. I am nothing if not complicated!
