Hi rosebud,

Welcome, I'm very excited about you discovering Callanetics. I think gentle for you is good right now, and Callan knew very well how to do gentle.

If your bloating is very sudden, and getting worse, a cortisone increase is the only thing that tends to do that quite like that. The only things that I can think of that is associated with that are low thyroid, peri-menopause, and fatigued adrenals, all which requires a focus on more whole foods, higher mineral intake (make sure you're getting enough), gentle exercise, and lots of rest (something to discuss with your doctor). I might be way off, but if you've been more tired lately, dizzy at times, appetite seems low, your hair quality isn't the same ( a few early symptoms), then it's something to think about.

2 Tbsp of sesame seeds a day can do wonders, along with some chamomile tea, regardless of whether you're dealing with the any of the above or not. And Callanetics will do you wonders as well; you'll see, just keep going!

Let us know how it goes!

---------------------------

I'm not going to set any goal in particular this month, but I will check in a couple of times per week.

Happy pulsing everyone!

Rosebud, I'm sorry to hear that the bloating isn't coming down with the usual fixes. I hope the doctor is able to give you some good news and help. Jigglebuster is right, continuing your Callanetics will help you feel better no matter what

Hey Rosebud! Any news on your tummy-troubs? Sending you good vibes

After 27 hrs of 10/10 since Aug. 1st I'm realizing that I need to start exercising in front of a mirror. I thought my form was really good and I listen to every work Callan says, but after trying pelvic rotations with a mirror I see I'm kinda off. Nothing major, just strong enough now that I can start fine tuning even more

Some days I just so wish I could have Callan there to correct my positions just once in this journey. I'm totally addicted BTW.

SkinnyDance, I think you'll find that it will take you a lot more to get it all. After a year of 4 times a week, I was still hearing "new" things. Every time I got stronger, or was able to do the part of the technique I heard to begin with, I'd hear or see something I had never heard before. So many subtle things. I believe we hear them as our body is ready to hear them.

It takes time. And yes, if we all had Callan by our side, our technique would be a lot better from the get-go and our results would be that much more.

I've been a bit slack the past week, but then I was on vacation and was completely slack in all areas of my life - felt good.

So, I'm going to start back into it gently today with a nice gentle 10/10.

Reporting 10 out of 20 Callanetics 10/10 done for Sept!

Jigglebuster: So glad to hear that you truly took a break from all areas of life for your vacation! I am really seeing how right you are. As I get stronger it sometimes feels like I'm doing a totally different and new move/exercise. It can be rewarding and disconcerting at the same time to realize I'm advancing and that I've not been doing it quite right. What a funny experience.

Here was a fun discovery today- when I did the leg stretch (sitting, both legs out straight in front), as I relaxed, my face rested comfortably on my shins below my knees. Whoa! Where did that come from? I guess I hadn't been truly relaxing like a rag-doll previously.

need encouragement

Hi, everyone! I recently started Callanetics and have read lots of posts on this forum about it (actually not this particular thread, so I need to catch up on it!).

I've done 17 hours of 10/10 since mid August and I'd love to report the fantastic tightening and inch-loss that almost everyone seems to have when they start Callanetics, but I've seen very little so far. I'm definitely stronger - the stomach exercises feel very different, and I need fewer breaks in all of them - but no inch loss.

Any words of encouragement? Is there anyone who didn't seem much in the beginning but is really glad to have continued? I enjoy the workouts and am happy to keep going. I've been doing 2-3 sessions a week, and I can see this being a regular part of my routine but I'd love to see it pay off eventually!

I'm pretty fit but much bulkier than I'd like, so the streamlining promised by Callanetics is really appealing to me.

Skinnydance, whoa! That's amazing! I, myself, am of the inflexible crowd, so when I make achievements like that, I'm in total awe! Congrats!

Hi Lina!

Callanetics can be sneaky at first, because of the way it works. You see, it starts from both the top and bottom and works its way to the centre. When I very first started, I thought I wasn't experiencing any changes, that is, until I decided to start measuring my calves and above my knees. There were even times when the measurements fluctuated in the opposite direction in the middle parts, while the upper and lower were shrinking away, and then a few weeks later that would shift. Eventually, it will all balance out.

Thanks Jigglebuster, I was in total awe too! It feels good to discover how much lengthening and flexibility was happening- another example of the Callanetics "sneakiness" that you speak of!

Hi Lina and welcome to the thread! Congratulations on 17 sessions, that's awesome I'll second everything Jigglebuster said, in that Callanetics works from the extremities in toward the core and everything changes in almost fits and starts. I promise that if you keep at it, you will get your startling rewards. I posted on here last month that I was frustrated with feeling like I was getting bigger in the middle and my natural hourglass ratios were going away. After sticking with it, my waist "puff" went away and now it is nipped in super tight and everything is getting firm.

I lost 70 lbs about 6 years ago and I've felt skinny fat (I'm a size 4) because of sagging skin, even though I've done walking and a beachbody video for years. Since August 1st I've done 35 Callanetics sessions and the results are miraculous! My whole body is pulling in, and I don't just mean the muscle firmness, but the loose skin-suit feeling is going away and it is like my skin is getting tighter separately. Not sure that makes any sense.

Anyway, I encourage you to stick with it and be patient because it will deliver incredible results, just not in a linear fashion!

I have to say, I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for Callanetics. It has kept my body stable and my mind sane.

Hi Jigglebuster. I love hearing feedback like that I've read about your physical challenges, and your success is a true testament to how powerful and healing these exercises are.

Today was session 20 of my goal for 20 hours of 10/10 for September! Yay! I feel amazing and I'm watching my body transform before my eyes. Even my chiropractor is impressed with how much more aligned I am, including my right hip which used to tip much more forward and cause me lots of low back pain.

Hi, all - I'm continuing with 10/10 will soon get either Evolution or SuperCallanetics - not so much for extra challenge (though I'm sure SC will kick my peach!) but I'm eager to get more input and ideas. I sometimes look at some of the Quick Callanetics videos and find that I learn more from seeing the same moves taught with slightly different wording or pacing.
Feeling good!

Also: I'm at 13/12 for September. I was planning 2-3x/week but this week was eager for more. I'm aiming for 140 for the year (from August - August), and I'm at 24/140.

SkinnyDance and Lina! Wow! Good for you!

Lina, it's really best to have the moves of either 10/10 or Evo down I.e. no longer hearing anything new when watching the videos and being able to do it all with ease before heading onto Super, but then I've seen people do it before that. The thing about Callanetics is the more gentle you are the better your results.

We're off to a new month. What do you want to accomplish?

Hi Ladies! I've managed to sneak 3 bonus sessions in for Sept. and that feels awesome My goal for October is 20 x of 10/10 but I'm finding that I don't like to take more than one day off per week. I just feel more flexible and less achey if I do only one day off at a time. Do you think I'm overdoing it if I do 6 days a week?

Lina- you're rocking this! How are you feeling? Are you starting to experience some changes?

JiggleBuster- Have you been pulsing? How's your body doing? Thank you for the reminder about how the more gentle the workout, the more effective it is. I am going to hold that as a focus.

SkinnyDance - I'm feeling great! very balanced and sleek. I'll take measurements tomorrow. Somehow I'm not sure that I've lots much in the way of inches but I've noticed new lines in my legs from a few angles
My goal for Oct is 15x of 10/10 and at least take a peek at Evolution. I feel like I have a lot to learn about the movements...

Yes,I have been pulsing. One really good thing happened, and that was I was doing that amazing floor stretch and my right hip made a final shift into place. I can officially say my right hip has healed! That happened a few weeks ago, and I'm eager to feel that same thing from my tailbone. It's nice to be able to move more fluidly, not just in Callanetics, but in day to day life too!

JB, congratulations on your hip!! that's great

I'm still fitting in about 3 hours/week of Callanetics. Sometimes I have to break it up, which isn't really ideal but right now I just want to keep it in my life even though I'm in a very busy stretch.

I feel good, and I had to finally give in and add a belt to one of my favorite pair of pants to make sure I didn't accidentally moon my colleagues (actually it was a belt that I had been meaning to throw away because I didn't think I'd ever use it - seemed way too small).

How's everyone else doing?

Wow! Fitting it in on a busy schedule is not easy. BUT I do know that fitting it in makes me feel better while I go through those busy days. It's so worth it! Good for you Lina!

I woke up pulsing this morning and I think it's time I upped my game again to 3-4 times a week. So that's what I'm going to do.

Happy Pulsing!

Callanetics Evolution arrived yesterday and I'm excited to try it! I've continued 10/10 a few times a week and I love how it feels (also love how I look now that I've been doing Callanetics for a few months).
What seems to work for me is alternating doing 10/10 with and also without the video. When I do it on my own and then come back to the instructions, I hear more and make little adjustments.
I still find the waist stretch really difficult! (all the others feel good or just more straightforward - easy to relax everything except the muscles that are working and easy to feel the focused movement).
I hope everyone else is doing well!

How's it going everyone? Do you have a goal for November?

We're already 4 days in and I'm about to pulse for the first time. My goal is 3-4 times per week, with a minimum of 13 this month!

Happy Pulsing!

I just finished a really lovely hour of 10/10. So gentle and greatly needed.

I feel good in my body. I feel accomplished. And I feel good about myself.

The power of Callanetics!

Hi everyone!

Another hour down! I can definitely notice a difference from coming from a maintenance of 2 hours per week to 4 to 5 hours per week. My core is strong and I feel more alive!

Since I'm the only one posting so far this month I hope you are all happily, yet quietly, pulsing out there!

I have a question for those with a book, if you don't mind. I have a friend wanting to start Callanetics, but has a sciatica problem. In the 10/10 video Callan states not to do the stretches in on the bar but to do stretches #1 and #2 in the book. Could someone please tell me what these are so I can relay it to my friend? Thanks!

I'm moving out of lurking zone. I just completed hour 11 of 10/10, #5 for this month. I restarted Callanetics in October after a several year break (last time I reached hour 8 and never got back to it). Maybe this time I'll keep it up. I always have excellent results and then get distracted. The first few weeks I was able to get 3 hours in each week, but lately, I've only managed 2. Although I feel stronger, I know I would see results much faster if I could fit in 3 or 4 sessions. As for the promise of losing 10 years in 10 hours, it is true for my bust. Now if the hips would just cooperate - I don't exactly enjoy looking off balance.

Welcome Bobby! And congrats for getting past 8.

I suspect your legs are also probably shrinking. Keep going eventually it will get to you middle, and your hips will go!

JB, I'm looking at the book now and it lists Stretches #1 and #2 as straddle and then to each side (the two stretches after seated pretzel in the 10/10 video. Also she has an entire chapter just about the back (Take Care of the Back) which has slight variations of most of the moves.

I'm continuing and enjoying it. Couldn't quite connect with Evolution as I had hoped but I sometimes add the circular pulsing into the moves just to vary them.
