Good Sleep!

Hello Everyone!

I finally got in a full session of Callanetics last night.
I have the 10/10 DVD and prefer to work from that when not using my Super DVD. It didn't work and kept getting stuck. I believe it is damaged forever. I refused to be deterred, though!

So, I got out my Callanetics 10/10 book and followed that. I went slowly and didn't feel like I over exerted myself. I made sure I stayed hydrated and drank my water immediately after my session. I finished around 7:40 pm or so.

Around 8:30 pm, I caught myself falling forward, in my chair, in front of the computer. At 9:04 pm I was in bed. I woke up briefly at 12:00 am. After that, I didn't see daylight until 7:00 am. I literally slept a good 10 beautiful hours!

I think the title of the book should be:
How to Look 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours and Sleep 10 Hours Per Night.

When I woke up this morning, I had just a mild soreness but had done my sit-up routine as well. I stick to Callanetics when I document my sessions and do it 3x a week on Tues/Thurs/Sat.

Sometimes I have trouble sleeping. Last night wasn't a problem. I feel so good this morning. I know Callanetics is great for me, yet I let it keep getting away from me.

Just a reminder, no matter how short or long your session, please drink water right away. Callanetics brings up stuff from deep within and water is so important. I used to have increasing aches in pains the more I did Callanetics. That was because I was severely dehydrated. I have to make a conscious effort to drink water. Once I started staying hydrated, especially after my Callanetics sessions, those aches and little pains disappeared. I guess the hinges and joints were in need of a little moisture!

Have a great day!

Well, a good night's sleep is in the list of benefits. Glad to see you're getting some Ouida!

Today will be a sporadic, spread out throughout the day session. I woke up late, after my good night's sleep, and have a busy day. So, a little here, a little there. It's all good.

Callanetics DVD is Working!

My 10/10 Callanetics DVD works! I got a q-tip and a bit of rubbing alcohol and that did it. I was able to use the DVD today to do my session.

I missed my Tuesday session. Since I'm committed to stick with it, I did my Tuesday session today, on Wednesday. I plan to do my Thursday and Saturday sessions as scheduled.

I noticed today while doing the Pelvic Scoop move that Callan says to keep the torso straight. I was arching my back a little bit.

I could only do 50 pulses for the stomach exercises. I have to work my way back up again. I have less stomach flab on my lower gut. Little by little my tummy is getting tighter.

The leg waves continue to be a challenge. There are only three on the dvd and I can usually only do 2 at a time.

I've seen the legs of a Callanetics practitioner who is 60+ years old. Her legs are gorgeous. Her legs were firmly muscled, tight and none of that 'knobby' knees look to her legs at all. There was no saggy skin over hanging the knee area either. I truly am a believer that Callanetics makes the physical body youthful more than any other type of exercise that I know. So I am motivated once again.

I came to Callanetics because of wanting to get rid of ugly, jutting saddlebags on my hips. Those continue to get better. Callanetics is the only exercise program that has ever reduced my saddlebags significantly! My back fat is shrinking a little bit, too. The more that it shrinks, the more the waist tightens in and reduces.

I joined here Feb 2014 because of the Callanetics thread. I just noticed that I have been on my Callanetics journey now for a little over two (2) years. Even though I have been an off again/on again practitioner myself, I couldn't be happier with the changes and results over the last two years!

Well, I am off to document my session in my Callanetics notebook. Happy pulsing Pretty ladies!

Good going Ouida! What matters is you keep coming back and benefiting from doing so.

So? What are everyone's goals this month?

I think I'm going for 3 a week, and I'm about to do the first right now.

Happy Pulsing!

I am new

Hey everybody!!
I am new to both this site and callanetics. Infact, I joined lowcarbfriends only because of this thread. I have started doing callanetics and seen great progress in just under 5 hours I am planning to continue it but want to break down into smaller segments. Like legs one day, hips and behind one day, stomach other so that each of the segment gets worked at least twice a week.
One jeans that I just couldn't get past above my knees are like fitting upto my bums I know it is not much but it is great considering I have only done 5 hours !!
Will keep posting my updates you all!!
Bye

Everyone!

Hi sweet!

Ouida! How have you been doing since you got back on the wagon?

I've been a bit MIA here and I have to admit have done very limited Callanetics... maaaaybe twice a week. Right now I just want to walk, and walk, and walk. And of course with spring comes my increased happenings of cataplexy, so there's that. I always forget I can still visualize even if I can't physically move. Silly me!

I'm OFF the wagon again...sigh!

Tell me more about the visualizing? It serves the role of doing exercise? I don't understand. Can you explain, please?

Sometimes, my body, or parts of my body goes paralyzed (cataplexy), so I'm not able to do the exercises physically. BUT our mind doesn't know the difference between between visualizing the exercises and actually doing them, therefore, when we visualize, it still causes the muscles, and nerves to engage the way they do when doing the exercises, just not fully contract and cause movement. So, when my body isn't working this is better than nothing at all, especially since in those times, I'm not even able to walk.

Too, when my body is working, I find visualizing them motivating and it makes me feel how good it could be if I was actually doing it, so it kicks my peach in gear and I start moving.

You were doing so well.... It's a good day to get back on! You can do it Ouida!!!

Greetings all!

I started Callanetics 3 days ago. About to do my 4th day of Callanetics.

My Questions is, has anyone here done Callanetics everyday for 40 days? My daughter's wedding is on June and I want to look good.

I'm also on low calorie diet and lost 15 lbs. but stalled. Anyway, if it is okay to continue with Callanetics everyday, I'm gonna do it!

Also, I can't find how to firm biceps in Callanetics exercises besides triceps. Does anyone have suggestions on that? my most cellulite area is on my biceps and cannot wear short sleeve anything.

Hello, everyone. I'd like to join. I have recently taken back up with Callanetics. I try other exercise regimens and always come back to Callan.

I have a question. My daughter had a baby 2 years ago. She has a lovely figure with low body fat. She is working out HARD with a boot camp type program. I believe it's a crossfit type of workout. She is frustrated, however, because she has loose skin in her tummy area. I think some call it a mum tum. Would it be advisable for me to suggest Callanetics to her? My experience has been that Callanetics has a tremendous "pulling in" effect. I never had to deal with this issue. I guess I have a different body type, or maybe because I had my children younger.

Does anyone have thoughts on ways to deal with loose belly skin after childbirth? She is a little discouraged because she ate right, worked out, breast fed, etc. and still has the issue.

Solomiam!

It is okay to do Callanetics everyday, but it is advised to take one or two days off. What is promoted here is that you learn to listen to your body. It will dictate to you what it needs. Remember this is a no pain more gain program.

Your biceps are the supporting muscles for you biceps, so technically, you are working them somewhat with the tricep exercises. Saying that, I like to add some push-ups and pull-ups into the mix.

Hi HulaBunny!

Loose skin is one of the areas Callanetics shines. Your daughter might want to look at building her collagen up.

I have been doing Callanetics Evolution on YouTube for 6 days until I received my original Callanetics today. Seems a lot shorter. Does anyone believe that one is better than the other? I'm thinking of switching everyday to do one and then the other. The new and the old versions.

They are just different. Some people enjoy one over the other, but I never noticed one being shorter than the other.

What I do, is use 10/10 as my base and add in an Evo move or Super (once you get there) to mix it up a bit.

------------------------------

I took advantage of waiting for something at a counter and did the standing hip and behinds from Super for 20 pulses each. I love how we can incorporate this stuff into my everyday!

It's getting a bit warmer here in the mornings, so I'm preparing to begin to do my Callanetics outside. I always enjoy them a lot more with the smell of the earth and pines and the chatter of the birds and squirrels checking me out.

In the meantime, I've been slipping in some extra pulses while doing everyday things, when having to wait i.e. heating up food, laundry, paint drying etc..

Hope you're all doing well!

How did everyone do in April??? Do you have goals for May? Let us know!!!

My April was much more successful than the previous month, and I'm feeling more capable in my body. Yay!

I've realised that with part of my work, I have to sit for long periods at a time. So I've decided to do one or two Callanetics exercises per hour, just to get me off my seat, keep the body alive, and keep the brain juices flowing. We'll see how that plan goes, but I'm feeling very optimistic with it.

I'd like to get in 3 hours worth of Callanetics per week this month.

I'm keeping up with the callanetics. Feel like I'm definitely seeing results!

Jigglebuster, do you find doing callanetics through out the day the way that you do, gives you the same results?

Jigglebuster, do you find doing callanetics through out the day the way that you do, gives you the same results?
Congratulations!

Keep in mind, I am on a maintenance level now. I've reached all of my goals, so the results you're hoping I see, I won't. I'm also combining this with two or three full hour sessions.

I would say it's the equivalent to jogging in place for two to four minutes a few times a day compared to going for a 45 minute jog. If you've never ran before, you'd notice improvements over time, but only to a point - you'd eventually want to build on that. So, in my opinion, no it wouldn't give you the same results. It won't help build endurance, nor will it lift your heart rate as much, and so wouldn't last long enough to allow you to sweat. When we do exercises consecutively, we build stamina, endurance, our respiratory system is strengthened (more than you realise with Callanetics), and the changing from one movement to the next helps our bones (both their strength and their ability to move and be positioned correctly) and ligaments.

Too, I noticed the Callanetics program was designed to flow in a way that not only energizes us but actually works on the energetic body, helping to relax and clear the chakras and help the energy flow through the meridians. This is why I think the order is important.

Is my doing a couple exercises every hour better than sitting for 7 to 8 hours and not moving? I'd say it's a 1000 X better.

Is it better than missing an hour session in a day? Absolutely. However, it's not that there wouldn't be any results, but I would think the results would come slower.

If you're wanting to break it up, you might be better to do something like the AM/PM DVD. It splits the 10/10 program up in a way that people feel works for their schedule and still gives them results.

Hope this helps!

Have you ever done Callanetics Cardio? I have heard about it but cannot find it. Do you know what kind of exercises that entails?

Yes, I really enjoy the Cardio one!

Basically, there is half an hour of something I can only describe as a cross between ballet dance moves and jazzercize (this is clearly my personal interpretation, but keep in mind, I've never taken a dance class in my life). Once I learnt the moves, I like to think a bit of grace started to present itself. Ha ha! But really, you need to learn the choreography to keep up with the "class". Just like the non-cardio Callanetics, looks can be deceiving - it's much harder than it looks, and your arms definitely get a workout.

That's the first half.

The second half hour slows you down with a short version of Evo moves.

I also cannot find bicep specific exercise. And there's not much with the inner thigh. These are the 2 most important for me. I do the rest and love it.

Actually, quite a lot of the exercises work the inner thigh, in fact, almost all of the lower body exercises do. Keep in mind, too, that Callanetics works because it's focus is on working the small supportive muscles close to the bone. I think as you work with it and begin to work deeper and deeper, you'll have a better understanding of this.

Auntie Em and I have talked a lot about how we've eventually made up exercises using the Callanetic's concepts. We just happen to find ourselves in a position, and get inspired and pulse. I've done this with the biceps, as well. Otherwise, a rubber band for curls or chin-ups will do the trick.

Seriously going to re-start Callanetics tomorrow after the kids go to school.
How do I say this without sounding like a superficial twit?
I have two months until a family reunion planning session, and I don't want to be the "fat cousin" anymore. I know callanetics & the diet will increase my good results.

Fit4Eva, I'm not sure what that means. It almost sounds like she's taking a break of some sort? I know making the new series took a LOT of time and energy, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Good for you for keeping at it. A break here and there I'm sure is beneficial.

You can do it Partyof8! I think you know how good you'll feel in your body once you really start connecting to it and when it starts to reflect what you're feeling...? Watch out world!!!

Hello everyone, I am back after 2 years of absence. I work out at the gym 2 hours 5 times a week, split in 40 minutes of bicycle and 80 minutes doing weights. I want to incorporate Callanetics into my weekly workout. How many sessions do you recommend I start with?

Hi Chantal, I did 3 when I was really in my work out stage.
I'm currently just doing the warm ups & a squat challenge.

Hi Partyof8,

Thank you so much for the feedback, I think I will do the same. I started incorporating Pilates this week, so it will be nice to add Callanetics to the mix, will start slow with 3 sessions per week.

@Chanttal

Hi

I'd say a minimum of 3.I found that anything less was too slow and that miffed me psychologically. Once you're up to it, 1 session of SuperCallanetics is equivalent to 2 sessions of 10 Years Younger. Then you could maybe do 2 a week. However, because you are doing weights so frequently, I'd be weary of doing more than 3 because of straining the muscles so much.
