I'm so sorry about your husband's diagnosis, Eliza. I have found that, for me, exercise really helped get me through tough times when I was able to do it. My own health issues prevented exercise for a couple of years but now I'm back to it and determined to get back to at least close to my former fitness!

I've been doing my PT exercises when I can. Missed a couple of days but back at it again. Need to get my days more organized so I'm not putting off exercise till too late in the day. Although I do sleep better when I do it later in the day. Might just split it up and do some in the morning and some in the early evening.

Just had my last physical therapy session today! I have my list of at home exercises to continue and I'm looking forward to better weather so I can get out and start walking and hopefully biking soon!

I've been doing my exercises and basement biking as much as I can and plan to continue.

I am so sorry to read that Eliza. Well done on caring for yourself at a difficult time like this.

I did a Body Conditioning class today. Just back from a great break in Madeira where I did lots of walking. But I'll feel my muscles after today's class.

It looks like we're finally getting decent weather here so I'm hoping to get a walk at that park in addition to my PT exercises today.

Yesterday and the day before I got a walk at the park....Saturday's walk was just over half a mile....Sunday's walk was just over a mile! So excited to see progress finally!

Today, for the first time in a few years, I went for a bike ride outdoors!! I rode just over 5 miles at the local park. I have to ride there for now because it's flat....I'm not able to do hills yet so I'll spend time riding on the flat roads of the park till I feel ready to try hills. The park has a few hills I can do when I'm ready!

Hi Everyone!
I am in CO, lots of snow right now, but melting fast and hoping I can start walking on some nearby trails with my dog.
I had a hip replacement 18 months ago, and thought I was doing good, but then
my knees started taking turns giving me trouble. I think I might have become a
couch potato, because bit by bit, it seemed that my operative leg became weaker and weaker. I might have given up.
That is not like me!
But also having diet issues, and then finally I decided to see what would happen if I started walking again. I think I am a bit stronger, but have done little for the past week.
I was gardening, one of my passions, and forgot to go walk! And then 15" of snow!
Where is Spring?
Anyway, I walked a lot today, shopping, and will walk either at the trails tomorrow or get on my (BORING) bicycle. I a\can only do 2 miles on it (usually 1.5) because it is so boring.
I also have one leg shorter than the other, since the surgery, so that slows me down.
I am trying not to waddle.....

Thanks! I miss biking a lot but feel like I'll be able to get back to it although maybe not as much as before.

I haven't done much of anything the last few days. Busy weekend and the few days before that I just wasn't up to do anything. I go through periods like this and it's frustrating to me. I wake with plans to do a lot of different things and then I fizzle out and don't even do half of what I wanted/planned to do.

Planning on getting back into the routine tomorrow.

Still not back to the routine...hopefully soon! I'm going to attempt to do the physical therapy exercises before I go to bed tonight since I have to do them laying on the bed. Better than nothing at all...

Wow! You TM Buddies are on the move! Great job! I've been on the move with busy days as well, working at the new job and from home. Lots of diaper cakes for baby showers, but I still managed to work out.

My routine has been Monday through Friday, Shaun T dvds, 5 lb weights, TM and Walk Away the Pounds. Been helping my SIL with her exercise routine and drinking water to get her going. I have another group that daily texts my phone with their accomplishments as well.

Welcome to the newbies! Glad to have you here! Eliza, sorry to read about your hubby. Kissa, Linda and Ladylove - you're doing great as always!

I went to bed early because I was up late Friday into Saturday and on the run - it took a toll on me. Now, I'm up and was learning a line dance on YouTube for 2 1/2 hours. I have a couple of friends that want to learn a couple of line dances for exercise to get moving. One came over on Friday and we danced to Shaun T's Dance Party (Rockin Body dvd) and then she showed me a few line dances that we can incorporate.

I will post my stats according to each week a little at a time because I've been behind posting on the board.

Keep up the good work, TM Buddies! Have a great day!

Hi guys! *waves* I'm a long time LCer but haven't been the exercise board yet. I live in NYC and go to the army base gym or Planet Fitness five days a week if I can. I gave it up for a while and my mental health suffers a lot when I don't work out, so I'm back at it again. My goal is to get back to riding my bike as much as I used to when I was working out at a high level.

I'm currently three weeks in and getting stronger every week.

Today was:

Elliptical: 7 minutes (I'm increasing a minute a day. I waited until I lost the first 20 lbs as this machine can be unforgiving on the knees and I want to avoid injury.)

Stationary Bike: 15 minutes on "3". Also watching my knee which is hinky on occasion.

Nautilaus Machines: Biceps, Triceps, Crunches, Upright Rows and Abduction, anywhere from 10 to 45 lbs depending on the machine. Also did manual crunches on a tiltboard. Generally do three to four reps of 8-10.

Hope to hang out and talk exercise with everyone here.

Well, exercise is put on hold for a while. While visiting our son over the weekend I was coming down the stairs I missed the bottom step and fell. I twisted my left knee and sprained my right foot. Walking is painful so I have only moved when absolutely necessary...using a cane for now. I have a dr. appt. on Wed. morning so I'll see what will be recommended then. I'm actually walking a little better today now that the swelling is going down. I'm so disappointed because I was finally making progress and now I'm worse than before... I'll do what I need to do in order to recover but it will be slow, I think....

I'm very sorry to hear this, Mama. Be kind to you and don't forget, you can work your upper body while sitting with hand weights and tension bands while you recover. You will build muscle and burn calories at rest -- so don't despair.

I send healing vibes to you.

Just cardio today, want to watch my shoulder which gave me a twinge yesterday. I'm really cautious about injuries, they are the main reason I stop going to the gym, so while accidents happen, injuries from working out are totally avoidable.

Treadmill: 20 minutes on 2.0 with a 1.5 incline.

Row Machine: 10 minutes on 10

Bike: 1 mile on low setting (still watching the knees too)

Tomorrow I'll hit the weights again, need that upper body strength.

GOOD WORKOUTS TO EVERYONE HERE!!!
