I know Mindy would love to see you. Dave Asprey had a stem cell dr on his show that is doing amazing things with stem cells for people with arthritis, etc..

Neewollah is a great place to graze. There is a very sweet Cheeseburger lady from Claremore who always comes to Neewollah. She was there last night. I had to say hi and buy something. Lol

Hi,

I think Sandy is having lots of fun on their vacation!!! Hopefully, her shingles are better.

Acupuncture and lunch with Scarlet to celebrate that she got her English project done early...

Just loving the Olympics.

Catch you later....

Thinking of Pooter and Cindy today for the big decision.

I was wondering if Pooter was about the same whether they might extend their decision time. I guess it depends on how much time they need to spend with her. (Pooter is a her, right?)

Pooter is the queen of the kitties around here. She is 21 and never has been married. Hoping for the best.

My friend is moving from her big house to a 2 bedroom house. It's just her and her Dh and they are going to retire soon. I'll help her pack a bit or get ready for her garage sale..whatever she needs tomorrow.

off to pick up Scarlet. Had a good acupuncture session.

Wow! 21 is very old for a cat. Hope the ending is peaceful if it must come to that.

I went to the Dr today & they forgot to do my thyroid tests with all that blood-work.. had to go get it done afterward. Going to start adjusting meds up a bit, hoping to get some more energy! All the while hopefully without increasing the overheating... such a balancing act.

Hope Sandy's shingles are disappearing.

Ouch Carolyn! getting needles poked in all over? What for?

Debby, it is a balancing act for sure..I would be a bit upset they didn't run the thyroid tests.
Acupuncture is so relaxing and it is a very gentle way of healing. Keeping things in check.
When a needle hurts, that means, there could be a problem on that meridian...

Dh is at the doctor for his thyroid/hormones checked..I told him to ask to to have a sleep study done. I bet he forgets..the little kid.

My moving friend is sick, so I am home washing my bedspread. Yesterday we did a thorough cleaning of the bedroom..dh was a good helper and I put a dust mite proof cover on our mattress..

I looked at my TSH at my last visit about 2 months ago and it was like 0.2.
I feel a lot less buzzy taking half my dose.
Don't know how long I'll keep doing that, I guess when I feel things change/if I feel things change.
I really like not getting hot flashes.

Good deal with the dust mite proof cover - I have one and on all our pillows.

Getting our 2015 taxes ready to send to book keeper - gotta run!

My TSh is way low, too because we are taking both T3/T4. Not to worry.
Buzzy is not good. I only got a dust mite for my pillow. Need to get one for Dh. Lol

Hi ladies..

Got on the scale and was 158! My vacation weight is still there. Of course, I know why..
Eating too many carbs too often.

Back on track .... and will take my Metformin more regularly. I was slacking off because I thought it was affecting my bladder.

Hair cut today!

I think it is a bit cooler. Dd has an interview with Whole Foods on Thursday. She has to give a presentation after talking with WF peeps.

Ooooh let us know how her interview goes! I've heard that's a great company to work for.

Do you occasionally take your blood sugar in the morning? Would be interesting to see how you're doing without it all the time.

Good news!! Dd got the job as Marketing and Community Relations director at Whole Foods. Not sure which one in KC yet.. Didn't ask, but we are delighted. She gets 20 percent off!!!

Helped my friend Kathy with her yard sale set up. Why does all yard sale stuff look alike? They are way downsizing.

I need a shower...took Scarlet to orientation. She is excited about school....

Just happy about Beth.

Thanks...she said she had to do a marketing presentation today after interviewing WF employees. She is quite creative/dramatic, so that helps. They hired her on the spot. She also has had good work experience at Marriott (sales), and event planning at UMKC. It all helps. Now that her two kitties are all settled in...

I get to babysit for my friend's cats this weekend. They got a new kitten they found in the woods. She said she was raising her for me. Lolol.

I do think 20 percent is a good discount.

Yup! She said she will be working in all 3 stores plus a new one to come. She is a foodie, so this is good.

Yes, we can meet anytime.

Did you see that little Zia was in the hospital for 10 days with pneumonia, they found a hole in her heart, and will sew it up in a few months... Hope they keep her healthy until then.

I didn't see that about little Zia.
I'm kind of glad they found that! It can be fixed!
I also hope she can stay well until she is fixed up.

What a lot to go through, so little, bless her.

Hi,

Out for breakfast, then stopped by my friend's sale. She was doing great and they sold a lot of stuff!! I dropped dh off at an auction on the way home. He said he'll walk.

Put a small frozen roast in the Instapot and put it on slow cooker. Hope it works.

Oh, at my friend's sale, she gave me some Golden books. I'm giving them to Scarlet for her 4 yr old brother, so she can read then to him in English so he might learn a bit of English before kindergarten next year. We can only hope.

Brilliant idea to get the 5-year-okd speaking English before school. Scarlet should speak to him only in English. Fantastic to be bilingual, but English should be a priority now. Is Scarlet too young to impress that on her? Or is it too "touchy?" Would mean so much for his success.

Hi gals,

Judy, I tell her that all the time. In kindergarten there is a Spanish speaking helper, but it would be nice if he knew some words before next fall. I think she saw how the twins struggled in 8th grade not knowing any English. And they passed the twins on to high school, but they aren't in any of Scarlet's classes.

Off to church...but before that I get to feed my friend's 2 dogs and 3 cats and the new little kitten, Mischief. Mischief has her own little mud room until she get assimilated with the boy cats. She is adorable! She would come to me after a little while of game playing.

Dh has jury duty tomorrow and it seems like they are going to trial. We'll see if gets picked or not. He was on a murder trial in Wchita years back. Anyone been on a jury?

I'm at the lake, typing on my phone.
Mischief sounds so cute!!

Well all you can do is pass along the advice of English only or nearly English only from Scarlet. He's still got an open window language-wise, so hopefully he'll pick it up fast.

I've been called for jury duty but never even gotten through to anything, thank goodness.

Beautiful weather, lake girls!!!

Dh got picked for the jury. The defendant was in jail and meth was discovered in his cell. He also is defending himself and he's not a genius. So, hopefully it will end tomorrow.

We just got home today and will go back next Monday. To the lake that is, not Colorado. And I'm sorry to say that my shingles are still hanging on. Every time I think I might be improving they let me know they're in charge. When I went to bed last night they hurt so much that I just cried. I just couldn't help it. I wouldn't wish these on anybody!!! I too hope that these stupid things are all gone by the time I leave for Mexico. I hope they're gone sooner!! But for sure by then.

Poor Pooter. I had not heard this news. I'm sure Cindy is sooooo sad. My heart goes out to her.

Carolyn, you're such a great friend! Not only to your friends but to Scarlet also. She will remember you for the rest of her life! I promise you!

Judy, did your DH have the lingering pain like this? I started getting them over 4th of July weekend so couldn't start the antivirals until Tuesday and am wondering if I might've missed that 72 hr window??

Well I weighed this morning for the first time since Aug 4. Yikes!! I guess I really enjoyed our trip!! Haha. I'm going to go LC right now since I'm taking so much medicine that I'm afraid to cram it all into an empty stomach. Trust me, my stomach hasn't been empty since I got these stupid things!! I'm taking gabapentin 600 mg plus alternating tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain along with lysine, vit c, the cimetidine, vit b12 and then all my regular scrips. The gabapentin makes me very spacey if I don't eat something with it. But I can certainly make better choices, that's for sure!!

Yes, I agree you likely need food with all that medicine and supplements.
DH did have quite a bit of lingering pain. And I can't remember the timing of before or after, but he also broke his right femur around then. The shingles went undiagnosed for several days so he didn't get any antivirals.

He did have an awesome dermatologist who took pity on him and prescribed painkillers. He would chew off about 1/4 of a pill a day. He'd tough it out and then take a bit of a pill to take the edge off. He made them last a loooooong time. But he thinks he would have been driven to distraction and unable to work without pain meds.

I think that's why I've suffered for you, having watched him suffer. I don't think my sympathy has lessened any pain for you, unfortunately.
