Just checked. No TWD tonight. Sad.
But if that's the worst thing that happens today that's a pretty good day!

Hi gals,
Yeah, its getting chilly here. Lows dipping below freezing & warming to 40 during the day. It snowed, but didn't stay. PTL! But the mountain is gleaming white this morning, so pretty! But you can sure feel it in the air.

Hey gang. Been busy with my daughter here, then resting up and then a crazy thing happening. I tell you, crazy things seek me out.
I think I mentioned that lately I have been craving radishes. Well last thurs night I got started on them and I am embarrassed to say how many I ate, but I will tell you that Walmart carries bags of them by Green Giant. I was dipping them in same salt. I begin to notice my mouth and tongue feeling funny and by the time I went to bed it felt kind of sore and was even swollen a little. I thought, yikes, all that salt. Woke up Friday to a very sore throats and very sore mouth and one side swollen. Found a number of ulcers like canker sores all over and so sore it hurt to talk and forget eating anything. This is Monday and it is better but still have sores. I have rinsed and rinsed with listerine and a product called ulcer ease. I must have had an allergic reaction to the radishes. The kids have said it is now official, I am crazy! Has been a miserable weekend.
Going to be traveling to see my sister so won't be on much but will catch up when I return!

HOW WEIRD!!! How weird to have had that craving - wouldn't a person think that is the most benign thing??
And then how weird to have that reaction.
I am so sorry for you. I bet it has been miserable.
That's a terrible weight loss trick.

When do you leave for your sister's?

Well I was wrong about which gym I get to go to with Silver Sneakers. Not the one I thought but I do get to go to one that's brand new and awesome!! Plus they have pickleball! If I ever get back to playing it that will be one more place to be able to play.

I am not kidding you, I am coming up there to eat everything next year at Neewalloh! LOL
I am deep into work right now and couldn't have come this year.

We have what will seem like an all-day wedding on Saturday (Wedding at 2, dinner at 6), and Piper's birthday party is Sunday afternoon.
Does Neewollah go through Sunday? Honestly next year!!! Rest up tonight.

Sandy a brand new gym?? That sounds perfect!
How fun you get to keep pickleballing.

Lol. The group here has been together for years. We are all friends on FB so we talk about our lives a lot. If you think about it, your daily life, and the stresses and challenges that go with it, are integral to either success or failure. There is a lot of info here, recipe sharing, links to other threads with helpful info. I don't follow EFGT. I really don't follow anything but do know most of the specifics about this particular WOE so I do pipe in. More of the core group follow this plan. Carolyn, Sandy, Judy (?), Debby. We came here for the diet plan but stayed for the good friends.

Come on up, Judy!! We'll have a food fest!!!

I don't like those all day weddings myself. Ceremony and then eat. We had a coffee bar with whipped cream to tie people over before dinner for Beth's wedding.

Neewollah really starts a week from Sat with the chili cook off. $5 for all you can eat of great chili. The a Little Mermaid musical is Friday, Sat, Sunday. Then Mnday is the Queen Neela Talent Show/Tuesday is the Coronation.. The food trucks arrive Wednesday for lunch..
It ends that Sat.

Welcome, Reta.

Sandy...hopefully you will get back to pickleball when you are ready. I hope your shingles are all better.

Cindy did a great job describing us.

Yep, I'll agree with that description. A friends group plus!
I go back & forth with Low carb/ plus fat; and just a more balanced... throw in a bit of Intermittent fasting...what I really need is to start exercising regularly.

Still fighting my vacation pounds from July. I think as we age we barely can eat anything.

There is an article on WWorld how beneficial probiotics are and they help your probiotics to work.

I've got some probiotics in my refrigerator.
I think I'll start taking those again - thanks.

Is there a supplement I do NOT have??

I am making fermented carrot sticks. In A quart mason jar put in about 1-2 pounds of carrot sticks. Fill the jar with filtered water and sea salt (1Tbs or less). Then put on counter for 2 weeks. Let the gas out each day..(it is quite gassy each day). Add water if necessary.
Refrigerate. Start small...like 1/2 a stick a day.. Now that is the interesting part. They must be powerful carrots!!!

have to find my fall decorations before Sarah comes.

I ordered the Jimmy Moore/Jason Fung fasting book. It will be out Oct. 18th.

Still knitting Jeremiah's sweater. Almost done!!!

Oh Carolyn, I can't wait to see how those carrots turn out! We have absolutely loved our fermented pickles and the sauerkraut. They taste so yummy its hard to limit your serving size but experience convinces you, that's for sure!

Do you ferment pickles approximately the same way?
Leaving them out for a couple of weeks, eventually refrigerating?
I love love love love love pickles.

Yes, just water, salt and spices, let sit out several days and then refrigerate. They're awesome. And we're almost out so we're very sad. It's hard to find those little pickling cukes during the off season.
I'm really anxious to hear how those carrots turn out!!

Fermented foods are supposed to be very very very good for you.
Good for your gut.
Good for gut healing.
When we eat, we are really feeding the gut - supposedly the root of all health.

Frankly, I don't know. I am just repeating what I've read so much lately.

Note: Fermented foods are high in histamines!
If you are sensitive to that, it's probably not a good thing.
