Yes I've read that too, and have been eating more pickles.
Thanks for that Judy, I am sensitive to histamines! Guess that solves that.

Good morning...

Now do fermented foods make you gassy? Just asking.... I think I'm going to like my carrots. There is quite a build up of bubbles each am, so I poured out some of the brine.
I will probably put them in the fridge after 7 days. They are very easy to make...

New furniture is coming tomorrow. We are giving our old furniture to the Community Closet. It is 38 years old!!

I started taking Sudafed 12 hour with my antihistamine. Not good.. I can barely sleep so I'm ditching that.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Sudafed keeps me awake, too.
I am excited for you to get new furniture!!

Debby I think I need to tread lightly around that histamine issue, too.

Dumping the Sedated for sure..

I put my carrots in the fridge cuz I think they are fermented enough..Since Friday..

Trying a load of laundry with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 2 tsp. of salt. Found this on
Facebook. It certainly is cheap..let you know..I'm just doing tablecloths from our meeting
last month so nothing dainty or expensive.

My Netrition order is coming this afternoon..I ordered Smart Buns..Will see how they are.

When you get those buns and try them, please let us know what you think.
That's a lot of fiber, but I love the calorie count. Contains flax but maybe not a lot.
I'm very interested in keeping these on hand for DH.

The fermented pickles don't seem to make us gassy, but the sauerkraut does, of course.
I haven't heard that about the histamine sensitivity to fermented foods?

Debby, pickles canned with vinegar are not beneficial like the ones fermented in water and salt.

Only vinegar and salt for the laundry? No soap at all?

Carolyn, when you make the fermented carrots can you use an airlock lid so you don't have to burp it all the time? What recipe did you use? Is there a web site that you used?

I'm loving these fermented foods!

Hi,,

I am making fermented carrot sticks. In A quart mason jar put in about 1-2 pounds of carrot sticks. Fill the jar with filtered water and sea salt (1Tbs or less). Then put on counter for 2 weeks. Let the gas out each day..(it is quite gassy each day). Add water if necessary.
Refrigerate. Start small...like 1/2 a stick a day.. Now that is the interesting part. They must be powerful carrots!!!

I don't know about the lids. Just didn't want them to blow all over the place.

Review of the Smart Buns .... Very good. They are individually wrapped for convenience. I will store them in the freezer.. Expensive but good.

Shawn's dad has pancreatitis. Hopefully they will put him in the hospital. They are there now.
He kept vomiting all the time. Poor guy.

So sorry about Shawn's father. My mom had pancreatitis 4 times before her big surgery. Awful.

Fermented foods don't cause histamine issues. Fermented foods simply have naturally occurring histamine. They are naturally high in histamines.
Not everyone has a problem with that.
Someone has a page called The Low Histamine Chef or something like that. If you have a problem with them, eating that way can be a big relief.

I have an old-fashioned washer too. I love it. If I couldn't use it to soak whites with Oxy Clean I don't know what I'd do.
I'm definitely going to try the vinegar and salt. I have a giant bag of baking soda, too. I might throw in a little of that, too.

HI,

New furniture arrived..It looks nice. Probably will have to pain the rooms, but it's been over 20 years..Time???

One of the ladies at church is allergic to histamines, too. I'll have to do research on bladder stuff and histamines. I don't think my allergy test detected that I was allergic to them, though. Right now, her face is a mess with chapped lips, etc. I should tell her about that page..

Well, it took a minor miracle to admit David into the hospital. But, they are doing lots of
tests and think he may have a painful gallstone floating around along with other problems.
Connie is so afraid he has dementia (which came on suddenly with the illness). I told her
sometimes physical problems can make you demented and that should be checked out first.
After he had some fluids, his dementia went away..What???? Their diet is horrendous..They eat out junk food all the time..

Judy, is your sweet momma on any special diet? or was she before she had her major surgery?

She was afraid to eat that year! Lost 20 pounds and ate a low fat diet because they wondered about her gall bladder before they found the cancer.
No special diet since the surgery.

After fluids the dementia went away?? Sounds physical, doesn't it? So sorry they're going through this.

Your poor mom! So glad she is well now.

David is still in the hospital...I do hope they can find something and give him some help. I know pancreatitis is so painful. But today he wanted to go home.

worked at Neewollah. I don't have to work til Monday.

Every single time my mom went in for pancreatitis, they "starved" her.
You give the pancreas a rest.
She had IV fluids but no food, and was also given pain killers each time.
She was always quite comfortable within hours, but was bored stupid.
Hopefully he's more comfortable. She always had to spend at least 1 night, usually 2.
They have to get it calmed down before you start dumping food on it.

My non-drinking mother was ALWAYS asked whether she drank alcohol.
Evidently pancreatitis is a typical alcoholic thing. They basically cure themselves because they are too sick to eat or drink even if they don't go to hospital - or that's what we were told.

See? Fasting solves everything! LOL

Carolyn what are you doing when you are working for Neewollah?

Hi ladies,

I work at the Neewollah store where we sell lots of junk and the tickets. The Little Mermaid was marvelous..All the leads sang beautifully...

Update on David..His pancreatitis is mild and with some meds, he should control it. But,
he also has been diagnosed formally with vascular dementia. So, he is in a geriatric psych ward to get him on some uplifting meds for his depression. He should be there for a week.
Connie was upset, but is better about it. I told her the good news is that he is not vomiting, which was very upsetting to her. David NEVER drank a thing..but is diabetic.

I got the new fasting book..I do have to start doing this sllloowwly..

Looks like OSU might beat KU...KSU is trying to beat Texas..So far, but scary.

Yes, OSU did beat KU. My SS went to KU. Sorry SS!
How did KSU do? Would love them to beat Texas.

So sorry to hear of the dementia diagnosis. So much to navigate.

We are at the lake with DD and Maddox. I got a cold a couple of days ago and now have completely lost my voice! I think my family is secretly happy..
I prepared the meats before I left.
LC pizza first night (Thursday).
Maria's chili last night.
Spaghetti with zoodles tonight.
I made apple spice muffins this morning.
Biscuits and gravy yesterday.

Brat pug thinks Maddox has too much energy. Lol!

KSU won! 24-21! Yeah. kU is slightly better than last year. Dd went to KU, too.

All your food sounds great. I need to make those niommie muffins again.

That cold is going around. We had it about a month ago..take care.

Have fun at the lake. I bet all the trees are starting to be pretty now. And yes, that food sounds wonderful!!

Newollah sounds like fun too Carolyn! You always seem to enjoy it every year.

I'm slowly whittling away my summer/vacation weight. Back to my 5 hour window fasting. Mostly. Some days it's not always 5 but sometimes it's only 3-4 too so I guess it evens out. And I'm just eating normally during that window, not low carb or keto or anything.

I'm also still slowly making headway around the house. I cleaned out all my spices the other day and have been sorting clothes to figure out what I'm taking to Texas and what I'm leaving here and what I'm donating. I also went through my jewelry box the other day. So I'm doing a lot that others can't see but still getting stuff done. Our new place is really coming along. We walk up there every Sunday after church to keep an eye on it, lol.

Did I tell you guys I bought a Chromebook? So far I really like it!! And so much cheaper than a new computer and really all I do is online stuff and for other stuff I'm slowly learning Google Drive/Google Docs stuff. And it's soooooo light!!

Hi Sandy... will your new place be done before you head to TX?? Good for you, whittling things down.

Neewollah is fun. Scarlet and I went to the Talent Show. It was fun.. Some good talent and bad talent. But all were brave!

You are smart on the puter, Sandy..

Why do some people wait until the day of the play to get tickets?? It is just doesn't make sense to me. They sold 250 tickets at the box office yesterday and the seats weren't that great at the end...oh well...

The lake was fun and the weather was just outstanding.
I love love love fall.
We had way too much food and I sent it home with DD whose C-section is scheduled for Dec. 8 or 9. She's uncomfortable and tired ALL the time, so the food will really help her out.

I made those apple sauce cinnamon muffins, I guess I told you. Man they are good. And those 37 calorie brownies with 1/2 cup of Ouizoid's BTF. I am going to write a note on the recipe to use less than 1/2 cup. Maybe I'll try a heaping 1/3 cup or something. I always think they are a little dry with a full 1/2 cup. Also will make a note to remove the brownies AT 20 minutes and not a minute later.

The cold, or what I think is a cold, is still going on. My body feels fine, but I still have a lot of drainage and a really nagging cough that fires up in the middle of the night.
The sore throat at the beginning was pretty bad, but it's over. Now left with the cough and my voice is still gone.
I guess it could be allergies. I don't know. So weird and so lingering.

Wondering if Carolyn & G's went this way. Maybe it's a different kind of virus?
DD & Maddox & DH have not gotten this. Makes me think allergies. But man this is harsh.

I woke up coughing at 2AM and kind of kept coughing until 7:30 AM. Slept until 9AM. I hate this. And I'm not really coughing now. Maybe it'll just get less and less.

Maddox just turned 3 a couple of weeks ago. He is turning into a ring-tailed tooter! LOL
The "Terrible Twos" were a dream, and now he's acting like a toddler! Wherever he has power, he will exercise that power. It seems out of his character but I guess he's going to be a normal child instead of a "perfect" child. HA HA!

Cindy The Walking Dead was brutal. Are you okay?

Sandy I'm glad to be home and fasting. I over-indulged, knowing I could fast when I got home.

For a couple of breakfasts at the lake, I had watched a Jacque Pepin video on FB where he's poaching eggs. I usually have a lot of stringy white in my poached eggs, so his method is to use a non-stick pan with lots of water, then add vinegar. You tease the eggs off the bottom of the non-stick pan pretty quickly after putting them in the water.
The eggs were just perfect. White cooked, yellow really runny.

I served them over split LC fluffy biscuits and ham gravy (with regular wheat flour which didn't seem to bother me). Whoooo weeee we thought we were in breakfast heaven. Had it twice.

I talk about food too much. LOL

Carolyn what day does Neewollah start? Glad you are having fun and so is Scarlet. I guess all the fun things have been going on for awhile. When do the outside food vendors happen? (still focused on food. No idea why I struggle with weight. LOL)

Sandy I need a new computer but I'll use it for work, so I won't get a Chromebook. I absolutely would if it didn't have to be used the way I need to. You can also use that as a tablet, though, right? Might be a good thing to have even if not using for work.

Oh dear - cleaning out spices. Those are some of the things I have trouble resisting buying. One of the MANY things I have trouble resisting buy, I guess! LOL
Every little bit helps when clearing out, though. When it comes time to pack, you won't need to examine every little thing and make decisions again. You've done that work. Good for you.

Our move in date won't be until the end of summer!! We'll come back from TX the first part of April, finish up what we need to do around here and then put our house on the market. We're going to Colorado for a month the last week in July so I hope we have perfect timing on everything so we don't have to change our plans. At least not too much. My "construction specialist" DH says move in probably won't really happen until September sometime so if that's so, then I think we'll be fine. I can't wait!!!

Judy, I love reading all about your food!! I eat vicariously thru you, lol. All in my mind so I'm safe there, lol.

Hi girls...

The food trucks come in tomorrow and serve lunch. Think Fair Food on the downtown street. Dh and eat there each evening. They shut down the Main Street and everyone walks and eats with music playing on the bandstand and carnival rides a street over.

Coronation is tonight. Scarlet is excited. We will eat at Arby's before and just walk across the street.

Sandy, I do think your construction expert is probably right. September would be a good time to move. When are you leaving for TX?

We ate our lunches at Neewollah every day we could until we left Friday. I think we were there for a couple of years, now that I think about it.
Fun that Scarlet is doing all this with you.

I am retiring vicariously through you, Sandy! LOL
Will you have time to post while you're in Texas? I sure hope so.
You have so many adventures planned.
