I just had one for lunch. No discernible odor. Bad batch maybe?

I haven't noticed an odor at all. That's pretty terrible for you, I hope your batch didn't go bad.

I regularly eat a low calorie/mod carb hamburger bun made from regular wheat ingredients, and the Smart Buns aren't any more sweet than those.

I hope there's not inconsistency in the product.

Just a thought. Did you add on the special ice-pack recommendation when ordering? I'm in Texas and doubtless these were exposed to much heat during shipping on trucks. We were still int he upper 80's when I ordered mine. The ice pack had melted en-route, but the styrofoam box lining had the ice pack inside still cool to the touch, so mine shipped without any spoilage. Netrition does caution they do NOT keep well at room temperature.

Perhaps yours got too warm for too long during shipment and were just beginning to spoil? Mine had absolutely no odor when opened. I store mine in the freezer.

Same here for what buttoni said.
I put mine in the freezer and left one package of the buns in the fridge.
My ice pack things were melted too. They always are, but ya know, that Texas heat. We are still using the a/c here.

I hope I haven't wasted money on these. I placed an order on the 4th using regular ground shipping. It shipped the 6th, but shows it won't arrive until the 14th!!!! I didn't even think to check to see if any of you requested quicker shipping. Like buttoni, I'm in Texas but it has been a little cooler (or less hot) the last few days.

Mine took a long time in transit (also Texas), but they were fine
Since they're individually wrapped (4 in a larger bag), I popped 2 in the fridge and froze the rest, no quality problems

Awesome, thanks ladies!!

ouizoid, I can't wait to get them! Here lately I've been craving grilled cheese sandwiches and sloppy joes with the weather finally beginning to change. I bought two of the Smart Buns in plain and sesame seed and some bagels from the other one - Great Low Carb Bread something on Netrition.

I'm having everything shipped here to where I work, so I'm hoping maybe they'll show up today instead of Monday.

Thanks again!

i have had a few of these the last week.
1. Grilled cheese - too much bread for something like that i think. unless you put on 3 slices of cheese, which is possible.
2. Steak sandwhich. I cut thin slices of fillet mignon last night and some cheese, toasted the bun with butter and garlic salt. This was much better.

Jury is still out for me on these.

Are the buns ok if you're on induction ?

This is just a thought, but for grilled cheese, what if you roll each half of the bun out flat with a rolling pin? It might work that way.

For induction = I don't see why not, but I'm no expert. Maybe someone else might know the answer. Since they are zero carb, I would think they would be ok for induction.

Or you could use a panini press.
Or, you could save money and just use the top and cut it in half.

I frequently cut the bottom half (the thicker half) in half yielding two circles. works great for grilled cheese!

I'm hoping they find a way to make bread and not just buns--I do really like them.

I looked it up. Mostly oat, corn, and rice fiber and some eggs. Nothing too weird and no vital wheat gluten.

I think I may order some, but after getting used to Amazon Prime, having something sent from Netrition to California feels like it is coming on a covered wagon.

Just love these rolls. I always cut the bottom piece in half. I put it in a ziplock bag in refrigerator and use when there's two for another sandwich. I just took out two to use on my cheeseburger for lunch today. Grilled cheese is a favorite of mine too.

I made a cheeseburger on one the other day and they are pretty good. Wish they made hot dog buns.

My order finally got here at work. The breads are in a separate box so I just stuck that box in the fridge. I have to go somewhere after work, so they should be nice and cold again by the time I do that and get home.

Can't wait to try them.

I'm in MD and I would say probably not. I get my Netrition orders in less than two days and the weather is very cool right now.

Well. I got home with my boxes and found that the one I'd put in the fridge at work wasn't the one with the bread in it. So the bread remained in my office all day. But my DaVinci Blueberry syrup, Joseph's syrup, and EZ Sweetz were quite nicely chilled!

After getting home I put the breads in the freezer. For dinner, I used one making a ham sandwich out of it. Although it doesn't smell like your Whataburger bun, it smelled fine to me. Nothing "off". And, it tasted great! Can't wait to try it more ways.

I bought some bagels (can't remember the brand), too, but haven't tried them yet. They came in the container with the Smart Buns and they looked fine.

So, it traveled well over the week+ it took to get to me. We're talking two weekends with a week in between people.

I've followed this thread from the beginning and finally ordered these buns on Sunday. I received them today and had to have a cheeseburger for dinner tonight. I am 100% sold on these buns, they really are as good as everyone has said! I did detect a little sweet taste in a couple of bites but not overall sweetness. I toasted the bun in toaster oven, grilled the burger, topped with red onion slice, sharp cheddar and munster cheese, mayo and jalapeno mustard. Yum!

Thanks for letting us know about these Ouiz!

what I have noticed about the sweetness is that it is much more pronounced in an untoasted bun. When the bun is toasted, the sweetness is much less--

Glad I came across this thread. I love the smart buns and have also tried the little smart cakes. I like the coconut and cinnamon but did not care for the chocolate. I am lucky I live in NH as I get my orders very quick. I ordered some yesterday and got them today. Netrition is in Albany, NY only a few hours from my home.
