Hi there! Great name. Thanks for starting us up for another month.

I can't agree that I was ever "a tiny little thing" but I do know I was very determined last year and I'm trying to recapture that same determination to get me thru this eating season.

I am still hoarse. I can't believe this has gone on so long.
Oh well. Must be allergies.
Still sniffling and sneezing.
Otherwise I really feel fine.

Fasted yesterday, but for the first time in 4-5 years, I actually wanted some of that Halloween candy, so I ate it.
Fasting now, obviously. LOL

I think for me, a downside of fasting, is that I have allowed myself foods I wouldn't have normally even considered. I guess because my body hasn't really felt so bad for eating them as it did before. I don't know. I don't think it 's healthy or anything, but I'd better rein this in.

Thank you for the new name and new month, Carolyn!

So happy all of our candy was snatched up by trick or treaters! Those little bars are so cute and bite sized.

I agree with Judy. When I start doing some fasting I'll have to be good because carbs are not my friend! For me, it is about insulin.

Up here the earthquake was tiny. The bedroom door rattled and it felt like a heavy person was walking but that was it. How about you, Judy?

My dad had his hip replacement surgery yesterday and is doing great!! It's really amazing how healthy he is for 86 years old!

I didn't hear about this latest earthquake? They sure are getting more numerous in this mid section of the country!! It's kind of scary.

We're rooting for the Cubbies tonight! I hope it's a good game.

We are rooting for the Cubbies, too! We saw a game there once. Fun place. Great hotdogs!

Your dad is amazing! Hips are easier than knees. He'll be fishing next spring!!!

Went to my sweet allergist. He is giving me eye drops so I can wear my glasses. His go to is Zyrtec and Flonase. He said that Singular was a very weak medicine and probably wouldn't do anything for me.

I have started running . We shall see how that goes. I was telling one of my eventing friends that I look fitter than I am. She said , "Yes, I'm strong but I breath hard!" That describes me in a nutshell. I need to up my cardiovascular fitness. I am running outside so hopefully the weather will cooperate this winter.

I wasn't getting notified of new posts, so I unsubscribed, then subscribed again.

Carolyn, our earthquake here was very very noticeable. At first, like a big truck driving by, then everything shaking....just didn't last very long, thank goodness.
Eloise, the brat pug, was right on my chest! LOL

Happy for that Cubs win!

I am still hoarse!! It's better, but not gone. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow.
If it wasn't getting better, I'd go to a doctor, but it's getting better. I feel fine, physically.
Today I have lots less drainage. I've been taking generic Zyrtec for more than a week. It seems so odd to have it hit me this hard after NOTHING all these years. Oh well.

Good luck with that running, Cindy! I do not envy you! LOL

Sandy I think hip replacements are universally well tolerated, don't you? Hope so.
Love to your darling dad and to you!

Buffy where are you???

Oh they do??? I was planning on going today.

I think what I need is a list of dishes I'd make.
Does not having the meat browned bother anyone? I think it would bother DH.

One of my best friend's dad was in WWII. Her parents came from the same small town in OK.
Her mom (now age 91) looks like she was plucked straight out of Germany.
When my friend's dad started courting her mom (Dorothy), he was trying to impress her and took her out for a steak dinner.

Dorothy had never in her life eaten a piece of meat she'd had to cut with a knife. She was not impressed. Lol
All their meat had been cooked all day and fell apart when the fork touched it.
And I think Dorothy always had a pot of beans on the stove.

I am sort of thinking the Instant Pot will let me make a fabulous meal in a super short time.

I know there's a thread on here, probably thanks to Carolyn. I'll check that out.

But first, today I'm delivering pizza crusts to DD (she and Maddox and her DH just love them!), to SS and her husband, and to my mom. Everyone will also get some new LC chocolate chip cookies I tried. They are cream cheese chocolate chip cookies. I think I like them, but they are slightly rubbery. Maybe because I couldn't find my xanthan gum and used glucomannan instead.
I've since found my xanthan. Too late!!

OSU and your K State meet up today. Good luck to you all. It should be a good game!

I have been hooked on the Halo ice cream. 240 calories for the whole container, 24 grams of protein from casein protein, net 36 carbs for the whole thing. I eat a whole one in the evening. They are pricey though.

Hi everyone..

Got back from a great weekend with Brett and Sarah and Gary in Manhattan and Topeka.
Sarah is chatty, so Brett keeps up with her..Nice to see they get along so well. So far, so good...

Way too much food this weekend.

My friend and I are going to head for the Pawhuska on Tuesday. The line on Saturday was 1 hour and 45 minutes long..Two lines..one for the restaurant and one for the store. But if
you go to the restaurant, you can go right into the store without standing in line again..That Pioneer Lady..is making money..Judy, have any of your friends gone yet?

Halo ice cream sounds wonderful..Where can you get it, Cindy?

I LOVE my instant pot..Soup in a hour or you can put in it on Slow Cook, which is really high on the crockpot. I like the fact, I can sauce stuff right in the bottom or brown meat, then
turn it on to pressure cook to cook it. I didn't use it this summer much, but will from now on. If it is on pressure cook, best not to leave the house, but on slow cook, you could.

Hugs to my friends..

I saw one FB friend IRL went. She posted a picture of her cinnamon roll. Looked good!
That will should be a fun trip.
I really like Ree Drummond on TV at least. She's pretty funny and light-hearted.
Again, on TV anyway.

Glad you had such a fun weekend!! That game was a heart-stopper.
So happy Sarah is still fun and enjoying our Brett.

I found the Instant Pot thread and the group on FB. I put it on my "wish list" on Amazon. My mother always wants me to find something for her to give me. It might be this Instant Pot. Especially that it can brown the meat as well as cook it quickly. It seems perfect.

Brat pug did not recognize the time change and is in the other room quietly occasionally crying for me to get up and feed her. LOL
I will obey!

Glad you're back, Carolyn! And glad it was fun.

Most grocery stores carry it here but not Walmart. Pricey. Try the vanilla bean. Leave it sit on the counter 20 min to soften and get creamy. They add casein protein to get it to 24 grams of protein per container. It uses eyrthritol and stevia so no yucky malitol.

I see another earthquake in your area! Some local peeps felt it too!

Akkk.. I gained 3 pounds on yummy carbs. Back on track today.

Thanks for the Halo info. I'll look when I'm somewhere else.

My friend and I are leaving for P at 8 am..hope that is early enough. I'll do a report.

That is a great gift from mom, Judy. Good idea.. I made bacon/Hamburg/onion/celery/one can of mushroom and one can of chicken soup and 3 cups of milk soup. I sautéed the meat and veggies, then dumped the soups/milk..and put it on slow cook.

Well, we will know the end tomorrow. Hope the country does revolt either way.

Brett did a total walk through with Sarah on Sat thru the Engineering Building Sandy's dh worked on. Gosh, it is beautiful.

I hope you have fun tomorrow. Give us a review!
It would be 45 minutes or so to go from here. How long for you?

That soup sounds delicious.
I think it makes me want (for some reason) Linda Sue's cheeseburger pie or hamburger pie - whatever it is called. So darned easy and we always like it.

Off to get some hamburger!
Hugs to all!

Carolyn I checked Halo's website. They say every single Reasor's store in Tulsa carries it - as well as Whole Foods. So next time you visit, bring your spoon!
I'm going to try it if/when I find it.
Thanks, Cindy!

Hy Vee has it for $4.99 a pint. Yes, that is the sale price! A pint is supposed to be 4 servings but I eat the whole thing! . It stays with you because of the casein protein.

All tight folks, this wasn't my first choice but we have......a 5 week old kitten! Long story but mom abandoned and caretakers at my barn didn't really know how to care for a kitten that young. It came last night with bloody watery diarrhea I am assuming because they gave it cows milk but maybe not. Vet today at 3:00. Started on a bit of probiotic last night and diarrhea is upgraded today to brown liquid which is better. Vigorous, playful but a baby baby.

Why not a kitten? Because I found this awesome 1 1/2 year old orange male kitty with white feet who is the most dear thing ever that I am trying to adopt and I can't see how DH is going to do 2 cats. He is fussing about 1!

Hello JMCM, Cindy, Carolyn, SJL & Debby,

I'm wondering if I could hang out with your group (thread)? I just entered the site today and am trying to find a place or two to interact and get some weight loss support. Cindy mentioned Hy-Vee stores which makes me think that you might live in my corner of the world, Minnesota. We have Hy-Vee stores here and my understanding is that they are Minnesota only stores. I could be wrong about that.

I'm 59 years old, live in Minnesota and need to shed about 30 pounds. I never really had any problems with weight until I turned 50 and slowly I've been putting on about 3-4 pounds a year and now I'm too fat for my own good. I've been thinking about going to Weight Watchers but I hate doing that whole meeting thing and what I really need is a daily social group to keep me inspired. Your group sounds like my style but if you are a long-time group of friends who have been hanging out here and are not open to new-comers I totally understand. If not I'd love to get to know you, your weight successes, and any other things to pass the time while the pounds melt away.

I'm doing a version of the Stillman diet but am open to other ideas. I've done Stillman in the past to lose a few pounds, back when I was thin and THOUGHT i was fat.....ha ha I'd love to have those days back. But, with work hopefully I'll get back there in a few months. So I'll await your permission to join you. Are there more people than the five of you in this group? I don't see any more posts past Carolyn's post on 10/31/2016.

Hi Karen! We would love to have you! We start a new thread each month and report our weight. We are very open to newcomers!!!! Most of us are Midwesterners except for Debby who lives way up north in British Columbia.

I do a basic Atkins when I'm good. Gained some vacation weight by eating carbs. So need to get back down about 8 pounds. Some of the gals do Intermittent Fasting with great success.

Please keep posting!!!

Oh, Cindy. two kitties make a complete family. The 1.5 year old is young enough to enjoy his baby brother. You are so kind. Dh will come along shortly...

Well, Ree Drummond's place was Fun! Bought some napkins and a cookbook for Sarah for Christmas. Had a huge high fat/sugar pastry and we were too full for lunch.

Thank you Carolyn. I plan to log in here 2-3 times each day to report my daily progress. Right now, at least in the beginning of this journey I need the accountability. I've had a good first day. I just added my calories and I am at 1070 which is right where I need to be for the day.

My day consisted of 2 deviled eggs, 3 oz steak, 1 c.3 Bean Salad, 1 food bar, 3 oz chicken breast,1 cup green beans, iced tea & water. I also walked 20 minutes. I'm full and satisfied. Now I just need about 90 more days just like today.

I've been reading about the JUDDD plan. I have not ever heard of that until today. It sort of makes sense to trick your metabolism this way so I'm considering doing that in a day or two. I need to stick to this higher protein eating first to get rid of my carbohydrate addiction. I don't usually eat much meat so the Stillman plan is a total shock to my appetite but I know it works if I eat more meat. So I'll choke it down to try to get the pounds off. I've done the true Stillman diet in the past and could never get past the third day and felt absolutely terrible so I do much better and last longer if I add some veggies but omit most of the carbs in my diet which means no fruits, no bread, crackers, shakes, ....all the things I love. But for today I'm pleased and jumping for joy for completing the day on track.

Thanks for letting me join your group!!!
