Ten years ago, i embarked on a low-carb lifestyle and once upon a time I was 305/215/199. Then DW had to go ahead and have our second child (ok, part of that was my fault) and so we had a two-year-old and a new born. Between the lack of sleep and the holidays, my diet exercise plan was torn to shreds. And bad habits returned. Once more into the breach my friends. Once more into the breach.

We were invited out to lunch at a Mexican restaurant today. I scoped out the menu ahead of time and ended up having chorizo and eggs and lettuce on the side. I had them prepack the rice, beans, and tortilla in a to go container so it wasn't on my plate. I feel sooooo successful after that. Right now, the carbs are not tempting me so much, but I know if I give in they will, plus put me behind for several days.

I did a nearly 3 mile walk last night and stayed on plan with calories and carbs. Today is my regular walking day with my niece, so I'll probably get in about 4 miles. I'm starting to stress out about Christmas. I never know what to get anyone. But I've found several nice things for myself....

Good luck all!

Everybody else - Great job hanging in there and posting your weight and staying on plan. This is the time we will get to where we want to be and MAINTAIN for life!!!

Everyone you are doing awesome, this is a very hard time of year to stay on track so great job!

NOPE! today is a WILL NOT WEIGH day. Once again, I ate stupid, and I'm not going to put myself in a sad mood this morning.

I just walked into the breakroom to get some coffee, and there is a platter of goodies. . Peanut butter cookies, fudge, peanut clusters etc. .

Judy, You are doing GREAT holding on to the 40's!

Laura, seeing your Christmas spread made me have a panic attack. I haven't even STARTED shopping yet!!

I need to get a LOT of that done this week!

Terri: I hear ya.. I haven't started shopping either. This year everything feels off. I hope to at least put the tree up this week. I have to wait for hubby to cut the bottom and level it in the tree stand first.

Yesterday I tried making flaxseed wraps.. meh .. is all I can say. They tasted very flaxy..doubt I will try again.

Maybe that 241.8 was a fluke after all? Nah, I think today is a water retention day.

I did a four mile walk yesterday and had a really good carb and calorie day, so it should keep dropping. I've also been looking for low carb dessert recipes for the holidays. Has anyone made a cheesecake with Splenda?

I'm behaving, barely. Have to talk myself down from the treats everyday but you know not having guilt is a better thing for me than having the whatever treat that is not allowed. Clear conscious going to bed at night helps me sleep better. After a hard weekend of working and Christmas wrapping, I grabbed an ice cold bottle of water and went and laid down to read for about an hour before falling asleep last night. No going over what I should not have eaten but did. Just peace.

Back on plan today. I have to get a handle on this before Christmas!

I still can't believe December is here. . . much less MID December! yikes!! panic!!

Happy Tuesday!

I haven't left; I've just not been weighing much.

I weighed a few days ago, got discouraged, weighed again today and I have lost 3 pounds without even trying or worrying about it.

I've eaten more carbs and I've also "gone" more. Magnesium helps in that regard.

Low carb is very difficult when these below zero temps hit.

Judy - Sorry to hear you've been sick and your microwave out of commission. I have a very tough time sticking to plan when sick. Good for you for doing it and it is showing on the scale. Keep those 50's at bay!!

Jen - Good job behaving yourself. Wasn't it you last month who was dropping weight faster than you could believe? I bet it will happen again if you keep at it.

Seeing a lot of holiday stress here. You know that stress does mess with our weight. I think our bodies hang on to it harder as a survival mechanism. I'm feeling it too!

Bloodhound - don't think of it as a fluke - but rather as a preview Your body still remembers that 248 from earlier this month - but now you have a marker on a lower weight as well

Judy - well done so far this month - very impressive

I notice some of you are tracking how long since you've had a diet soda. In terms of weight loss, I think it's important you avoid them for the first few weeks of the LC WOE - just to get your body used to no sweets. But once you're firmly on plan, I don't see them as a hindrance to weight loss at all. I don't see how I could get through a work-day without Coke Zero - but then again, it's my primary source of caffeine.

Stay on target All

Good Luck everyone!

12/13 - 249. what? really? My body is finally going to let go? I'll believe it if it stays this way. Is nice to see a new century number. 3 pds in 13 days. Definitely not the track record that I was making in first two months.

Spride - you are trying to maintain? but losing? Or slowly getting to maintenance phase while continuing to lose. Brave man Either way, sounds like your having some fun at favorite restaurants and still managing to loose.

Kit - you're right on the holiday stress I think. So many people are missing right now. I've got three more days of posting then I'm outta here.

Susan - you're doing great! keep up the good work and yes regular visits to the restroom are a Godsend in my opinion.

Terri - yep all the food baskets keep on coming in. I'm visualizing or trying to visualize nasty tasting chalk behind that chocolate and the chocolate covered popcorn is chocolate covered Styrofoam. Stuff like that. The good stuff is in my office fridge, like fresh broccoli and yummy cheese, and ranch dressing and pickles and cream cheese wrapped in ham. yum. They can have their Styrofoam and chalk.

Bloodhound - you are almost into the 30's. I love having someone just a little ahead of me. You are standing at my new goal and I'm trying to catch up. Though at the pace I'm going you'll stay ahead.

Judy sorry to hear about your microwave. Nice that you live in a place that replaces them? Never heard of such a thing. Hope you're feeling better too!

Shannon - you know what it is on the pop I think? Its the fizz. It wakes up the mouth and all that. Have you considered that devise that makes your regular water fizzy? I've seen it advertised on T.V. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Hi to everyone else, and by that I mean the ones that are here and I missed and the ones who are just stopping in to read and hopefully stay motivated.
Hope everyone is having a great Christmas Season!

Hey Folks back from LA! Had a blast!

Only gained a lb but it will be coming off right quick!
last week: 213
after trip this am: 214.5

To answer Terri's question re: how am I maintaining w/o gaining this season. I think it is because I am not being a glutton. I have lost an appetite for sweets, breads and heavy starch stuff is just evil to me. I do controlled nibbles. I get full faster these days. I mind my calorie allowance, although I am going off of my carb allowance that shrinks the weight, I have been mindful of them. Next day after eating a bit over I purge: I exclude bad carbs. Do detox baths and drink plenty of water. Also, all of that bike riding in the summer months must have rev'd my metabolism up too. I have been being more aerobic this season also, i.e. walking all over the place, dancing! All of this ,I think, have been helping me maintain.

After the holidays, 'don't know exactly which month - Mr wily mojo is going down - I will be gunning for a 15 lb quick loss to put at least one foot into Onederland.

ParisFox I see you dropped to the 40's
Susan46"...Low carb is very difficult when these below zero temps hit."
I agree. We crave warm snugly comfort foods i.e. soups, stews, casseroles that contain the standard carbs potatoes, carrots, etc!
SmileyBcuz"...I ate good all day until last night, had a sweet. " Don't sweet. It can be weird sometimes you overeat and nothing. Something a lost then another day one little thing GAIN! I know a real pain!

Everyone is doing good! I will get those I missed later. I am so so busy now.
