Ten years ago, i embarked on a low-carb lifestyle and once upon a time I was 305/215/199. Then DW had to go ahead and have our second child (ok, part of that was my fault) and so we had a two-year-old and a new born. Between the lack of sleep and the holidays, my diet exercise plan was torn to shreds. And bad habits returned. Once more into the breach my friends. Once more into the breach.

Oh Sven, it's easier said than done though!

Diana, I feel your pain, girl. I'm trying to keep a hold of myself too! I know I have it in me, just not this week.

I have some scans to do today and because I'm allergic to IV contrast dye, I have to do a regimen of prednisone starting 13 hours prior. So I'm running 90 to nothing on steriods this morning. AND I'm STARVING (which I'm NEVER EVER hungry in the morning).

Gonna be an interesting day. I hope I have a little energy when it's all over. I HAVE TO DO SOME SHOPPING!!

Is it HUMP DAY already??

Solstice! Thank GOD.

Yes Sven:

EVERYBODY don't panic. Hang in there! Enjoy the holidays and all that it brings. You will resume your diligence after its done and over!

Last year I somehow gained 20lbs when I finally checked. The years before about 10 or 15lbs. This is average for anyone. The norm is.to put on 10lbs during the winter.

Armed with that I vowed not to let that happen again. This year I go up a 1lb to 3lb then go back down. I found a way to maintain and just enjoy; having lost some of my closest relatives. I am just not letting it get to me. Stay vigilant. Watch and adjust as needed. It will be alright.

BREATHE y'all and go have some gd fun!

Yes Terri thank God the winter solstice has come and the Sun can soon return warming our spirits and firing inspiration!

Time to get serious again!!

Thankfully, I've been maintaining since I last posted (and eating a LOT of stuff I shouldn't).

And I just noticed I called it "stuff" not "food". Probably a reason for that, right?

Judy - Woo hoo!! Way to go.

Teri - Good luck with your scans. I know what you mean about needing the energy later. Hope you get some. I've been very low energy after work lately and I'm not getting anything done. Did I mention I'm having 25 for a sit down dinner on the 26th?

Diana - You are an exercising marvel. I can't believe how much you and some of the others on this thread do. I hope to get close to it some day. Right now a 1.25 mile walk feels like a real work out to me. (Well that was before I broke my foot.) Sounds like you know what to do to make that scale move down.

Best of luck to all of us getting through the month and year. Here's to good health and good cheer!

I just realized something kind of weird. I'm getting tired of the .8 showing up at the end of my weight. Then I noticed my scale only shows me even numbers after the decimal point. Then I scanned all of our weights and noticed almost everybody else's is the same, except for Terri's which is always odd numbers and Pawleys' whose does both. I wonder if it has to do with how the scale is calibrated or how sensitive/expensive the scale is. LOL - just struck me as odd. I think I'm writing too many reports for work and getting too analytical.

Funny, I never noticed that but you are right, only even numbers after the decimal.

Kit, I weigh on a big, old fashioned freight scale. The balance kind. Not digital. It weighs in 1/2 pound increments. It's VERY accurate! That's why I'm either .0 or .5 after my number.

Had a bad night after all the foreign stuff thrust into my body yesterday. Restless leg all night AND I've got a steroid hangover.

Today, the annual Ladies Christmas Luncheon. I'm going to "try" to be good.

Just a rough month. I feel like I'm the ONLY one on this board that's gaining! Seems everyone else is losing or maintaining! KUDOS to you guys!

Don't worry, in the famous words of Arnold Swarchenegger (sp) "I'LL BE BAAAACK!!"

My scale is digital and only does even decimals.
I didn't walk yesterday, but stayed on plan. My stomach still hurts from my niece's suggested floor exercises the other day.

Hi All!

Been busy around here, made a ton of Christmas baking but gave it ALL away (but had to try it as I made it to make sure I could give it away) I live in a great neighborhood and we all give each other goodies, well even though I've given all mine away boy do we have a lot around here. I'm afraid to get on the scale. The week after Christmas I'm going to try hard to get back on track and then I know come Jan. I definitely will.

Congrats to all of you who are staying true and doing well and even those of you who are be honest, great job!

Well that is completely undeserved. Calories were 950 yesterday and 16 carbs! I did wake up with the dreaded leg and foot cramp this morning and drank some water before weighing which i don't usually do, but I didnt drink THAT much.

Good to see you checking in Smiley. That neighborhood sounds great although tough on the old diet.

Weight 129{So coming back down.
Not the weight I was in Aug.126} but,Hanging in. So slow to lose.
And come Jan. then another New road to head on, and hope with less bumps and wrong turns.
Going to try to do my best to not over eat, And pass on the pies. cookies and such.
I walked 5 miles yesterday and did couple weight machines.
Scale I have a great one{The beam kind like Drs. use to use. {True weight to the numbers.
I just have to watch, that the sacle does not rule me and mess with my head. Seems when i have a gain, it throws me in a bad place . Not doing that this coming year.
Have to work harder and keep going.
We can all lose weight, just it is hard. and so slow.
But think of it as getting healthier and toned and just feeling good about self.
Life is more then how we all look.
so maye if we think a diff. way it will help.

Have a happy New year and hoildays.

Going to see the play Mary Poppins tonight... Been dreading this a little as I carry a lot of my weight in my hips so theatre seats usually are not comfortable for me... I'm hoping that some of the 46 lbs I lost came off of my butt and i can sit comfortably. We will see!

Have a great day everyone

groovy - I know what you mean about the theater - even without all the excessive weight - I have very long legs and I end up with knee pain every time.

oh - and happy winter solstice all - The days get longer from here out!

Stay on target!

Between the lack of sleep and the holidays, my diet exercise plan was torn to shreds. And bad habits returned. Once more into the breach my friends. Once more into the breach.

Hello everyone!
Wow its so awesome to see the GREAT planning and loses even through this holiday season. Its tough for me as well.
I'm hoping to hop back on this wagon next week (Wednesday or Thursday).
For anyone that does not know, I had foot surgery a month ago. The doctor says everything is going very well. I'm just now beginning to walk on my foot. The outer scar has healed nicely. There are scars inside where he had to cut a tendon. It feels like I'm walking on a marble. These will heal and go away with the massage my hubby does to my foot each evening (well he starts tonight...he's picking up the scar cream now.)
Now that I can control my own meals and I'm more up and around I'll be cooking for myself. I've also asked my mom for a food processor for Christmas so that will help make some of those great low carb foods I've been wanting to make.
I did try and weigh a few days ago. I can't yet stand with two feet on the scale so its likely not accurate. (it said 298)
Off I go...zipping away on my knee scooter!
Yall keep up the great work. I'm so envious of those loses I see but if you aren't doing the work then you won't get the loses right? right.
See yall for reals soon!
LOVE!

I'm just posting hopefully to give courage to anyone needing it. If you've completely blown your WOE, DON'T IGNORE THE SCALE. Because I stepped on the scale this morning, I will NOT be visiting the goody tray in the breakroom this morning. Had I NOT weighed, I would have went ahead and endulged. Because, hey, ignorance is bliss, right?

I've done a lot of damage, but it's not undoable. Next week is another chance.

Happy Christmas Eve, Eve everyone!

I've been so good I expected at least a little drop. It will come...

So right, Terri about weighing regardless. There are so many times I stopped weighing and really blew it without the daily accountability. And it is so much easier to pretend the mistakes won't make a difference if I'm not facing the scale the next day.

Yes, I have to work today, but it will be nice and slow. Maybe I'll even get my walk in during my lunch. My boss lets us take longer lunches if we're exercising.

Yep - weighing every day definitely makes a difference. Even though it can really be a bummer, ignoring it can really let things get out of control.

I can see the 230 barrier is going to be a tough nut for me to crack. Still 8 days until the new year.

Have a safe and productive day everyone.

Well Mary Poppins was excellent! I just love musicals. AND you were right Ang, I just plunked right down in my seat, the sides didn't dig in at all! I was relieved and very pleased

The weight keeps coming off which makes me even more determined to stay clean in my eating.

Ang - nice to see you! Glad to hear your surgery went well. Hope your recovery is quick

TGIF!
