Tammy, I had my bypass 1/26/16 - almost a year ago. It was getting difficult for me to walk with my arthritic knees and my ortho said my future was bleak and he wouldn't do knee replacement surgery with my eight what it was so "drastic times called for drastic measures". I'm very happy with my success (see updated stats ) but it hasn't been easy.

Went to appointment yesterday and they are happy with my progress but I don't drink enough water or excercise so I was talked to about that. Unfortunately, my sister was there so she is going to dog me..

Need to get some things done but I promise to read everything and post more often.

Marilee, I am SO IMPRESSED.....seriously, you've done simply amazing!! I'm so darn happy for you.....you my friend need to post an updated picture!!!

yes, Abi, the wings are that big.

I believe they flew in from Chernobyl. in the beginning, I DID eat 3 or 4 at one sitting. I am modulating my quantities to the amount of physical activity I do, which is very little. also, I started to do larger amounts of salad/veggie, and smaller quantities of fat/protein. here we are in 2017, and I expect to have my operation just before Memorial day, IF, I can get down to 199 lbs. I just want to see the #1 on the scale, not #2. 199 seems a whale of a difference from 200. I KNOW it will happen! also, delighted to see new blitzers. make this your home! I've gotta ask Marilee, how bad is the excess skin? I was a few pounds more when I started and things are already sagging and changing. And I already have bat wings!!

It isn't pretty and it is going to get worse. I have to lose about 37 more pounds. I had bat wings before I started. I do plan on having sking removal surgery when this is all done. However, I would still have done the surgery as my over all health is so much better and I am walking without assistance.

Whoa, Marilee, you look awesome. I wondered when we were going to see an updated picture.

Pork rind crust, that sounds interesting. Going to have to check it out.

Soup is on hold til tomorrow due to son being here for supper now. He hates broccoli. So, pork chops and sauerkraut LOL

ff, what surgery is in your future? Good luck on hitting onederland.

OK Marilee aka Gibby is your aunt, Vicki?
Gibby you like great in your Avi! Just an amazing loss.
MrsVardy very nice pic.
Chris I already have the name of a surgeon. Maybe we could find one that would give a group discount. My flappy arms could probably rival FFs turkey wings.
I will get the bread recipe posted Tammy. It's a nice switch from my Flax bread, but I don't think any bread could replace it. I love my Flax bread
Oh what kind of fatbombs are you going to make Tammy?

I have a great husband for support, don't tell him I admitted that! He was even clueless about how bad it was. This March makes 28 years for us. Crap I'm old!

And no poo piles from the mutt!! I got him from the local adoption place 2 years ago, they said he was half Black Lab and half Heinz 57. He's an awesome baby!

Good Morning All!

My face is so flipping dry lately! I use Oil of Old Lady 2-3 times a day, and a decent foundation, I guess I need more water. Or less coffee and that just ain't gonna happen!! Does my 3-4 cups a day at about 12 ounces each count as water!

Those wings last night rocked! Nice and crispy. Mine were plain or with a garlic butter concoction. Yum! Gaaaahlic, you gotta say it like Emeril.

No clue for food today other than sausage links for breakfast. The pork roast is gone, the lettuce is gone, I've got nothing. I'm seeing a Hardee's lc breakfast bowl for lunch. Oh wait, I can do my own bowl, I have eggs and cheese too. Then just dinner is a mystery.

After yesterday's lockdown at work and hearing lots of stories from the past, I wonder how long before I get caught walking to the parking garage by a client I've ticked off!! Work doesn't allow weapons, which makes sense with all the mentally disturbed clients we have. But you can bet the barn that if I had kept the gun permit going, I'd carry. I still have the gun, it's just been locked up since our oldest started walking and after a while I just forgot about it.

I guess I'd better put my face on and find some clothes to wear. Have a good day!

Doing okay. Super sore from gym classes. Stairs are my enemy as well as standing. I have another class tonight and tomorrow I'll be doing something extremely light and I'll either need to do an Epsom bath or an ice bath for my muscles. I'm supposed to stay away from the scale and either weigh weekly or every 2 weeks. My legs are so sore and feel heavy haha. Got weighed in yesterday so next Wednesday or the Wednesday after I'll get my official numbers. I might try to wait until the 18th so I don't get discouraged immediately with the workout program. But let's face it I'm a scale junkie so 2 weeks is a long time not to get on it....

Today's Funny

As I pulled in the parking garage, some moron was coming out the wrong way. I about hit him and his little red whatever that was he was driving. It's not like this is a huge garage that can easily confuse you, but it's a one way entrance with no room to spare. And he wanted me to back up. Aparently he reads lips very well and understood when I said, "I WILL move you." Or it may have been me slowly creeping forward.

Good morning kids!!

Grace, By the time I got I got done with work, ran to the grocery store to pick up some things, came home and made dinner for DH and me....I was too flipping tired to make any fat bombs....story of my life!! I DO however have the recipes for what looks like a super yummy lemon cheesecake bomb, raspberry bark, and a chia seed /shredded coconut bar that looks AMAZING....I have all of the ingredients, so sometime in the next week or so I'll start experimenting a little and see how they go.

Tony, your grandbabies are ADORABLE....I can not believe that Amadora is 3 already!!!! What's the 1 1/2 year old's name?

Vicki, how were the pork chops? We don't do much pork, DH has never been a big fan of it....except for bacon and ribs!!

FF, what kind of surgery are you having??

Marilee, what's been the hardest part of the aftereffects of the surgery to deal with? Is it the physical recovery or more the drastic change in diet?

Abi, how's work?

Chris, I totally relate about the crazy people and needing a weapon. We see a LOT of violence in property management....in fact just 2 weeks ago at one of our properties in Portland a recently evicted resident walked into the apartment managers office with a gun and shot BOTH the manager and the assistant manager. Fortunately they both survived, but we're starting to see this sort of thing more and more in our industry.....and we're not allowed to carry weapons either. I do however believe in the power of prayer and I know that God protects me!! I also have a maintenance tech who has multiple black belts and both of the communities I manage are next door to the police department.....so there's that!

Well, my weight loss is off to a bit of a slow start....I've just barely lost a pound this week....I kind of thought that I'd at least shed some water weight and get that initial woosh.....but that's ok, my keto sticks are a lovely shade of dark plum and my macros are spot on....I've got this!!

Have a great day everyone!!

the procedure will be done by a neurosurgeon.

it will be to remove pressure from the lower spine. I am not in any kind of pain, but I have a balance problem, which is why I am never w/o my walker. as far as my appetite goes, it is seasonal. during the winter, it is problematic at best. I stay within my limits because, I drink throughout the day, and I focus on other than food concerns. but, I do not relish going hungry, so at times, I do need to eat a bit more. I was supposed to go out to get things done. but I kept putting it off, because I feel so cozy. however, tomorrow, I really MUST venture forth, as LATINUM does not last as much as it did in the past. Hi gang, I made it through yesterday, yahoo. The chops and sauerkraut were good. I got the recipe from one of my Dana Carpender Low Carb cookbooks. The recipe was for 3 chops and one can of kraut but I had 6 chops but no more kraut, however, I had bought a red cabbage so I chopped some up and double the rest of the ingredients. The kraut cabbage mixture was sweet and sour since some stevia was added along with white wine vinegar to replace the wine. Everyone liked it.

Whenever I begin low carb I pee like a race horse. Last night I was up 3 times! I also get constipated so will have to start psyllium husk powder doses. I know TMI!!

Where is Chrissy and MrsVarday?

Kal- I am sore too from doing some workouts. We have around 50 exercise DVDs that we rotate through along with a tread and elliptical. Who wants you to weigh weekly or every other week? I don't like weighing daily since the number can wreak havoc on my brain.

Grace- I found a pork rind crust recipe off of Linda Sue's website. I am sure I have tried it in the past since I have been doing low carb off and on since 08' I too have kids spread out: 32, 30 and 17. No grandkids yet.

Chris-you can't be that old. Besides, our core group of people are over 50. I am 57.

Tony, you better start checking in more often LOL

Abs, how is the weather your way? We are in the deep freeze.

Marilee, what are you going to do to increase water intake? What about exercise?

WOE: Low Carb My Way
Start Date: Every day
Getting ready for work. This afternoon I prepped celery, peppers, and salad. I usually have a container of celery and carrot sticks along with a big salad to eat on through the week. Our local grocery store had celery and baby carrots on sale for $0.88, I bought 2 of each.

Broccoli soup for supper before I leave. Supper at work will be HB eggs, veggies and a dip I made from cottage cheese and sour cream along with spices. I am going to eat an apple for dessert. I know a bit high in carbs, oh well.

I'm 47, I think. Anyways I told you guys Chris will have you laughing. Her and I hung on to the end of the last challenge and even though it was just two of us. I was never bored!
Kal, I love your non food treats/rewards on your goals!
Tony your grandkids are too cute!
Vicki..That Avi!! Omgosh. My surgeon wants me on high fiber so Flaxseed is my friend. Planning on ordering psyllium husk fiber from netrition, haven't tried it yet. I think Linda Sue's and MsWoods recipe is similar. I remember MsWoods saying they had both done one on their sites, like the same day.
Tammy, your fat bomb choices sound great. I know I would love the rasberry bark! I made chocolate crunch ones. The site said they were like a Nestle crunch..And they are. They have crushed pork rinds..Sounds weird..But it works.
FF when is your surgery and what kind of recovery time is involved?
Oh Chris never a dull moment in your life, I live vicariously through your funnies!! So glad there was no dog poo all over the house.

I meant to post on here my challenge starting weight. 197, I see my surgeon at the end of February. I would like to be down a total of 50lbs when I see him. So 11 more pounds to go. After that my next goal is 175. Hopefully this year I will see a size 12..On me not someone else.
B, was my Keto coffee, lunch was a grilled chicken/ steak veggie thing. For dinner I would like a master chef.. for free.. with unlimited food resources.Just don't even want to cook tonight.

My 4 year old just told me he was thirsty, and no juice, just water please.. He may not be mine.

Stats: 94#'s down, lots more to go
WOE: Stay below 20 carbs per day
Start Date: 7/12/16 for yet another time
I'm so glad it's Friday. And the only reason is I'm not a morning person! Do I miss working night shift? Sometimes! The old man can't understand why I get up so early. I need to wake up, get my brain working, THEN get ready and leave. He wakes up and 10 minutes later is out the door. He's nutz!

I've got nothing ready for lunch today, so I'm hitting Hardee's. I love their lc bowls!

I'm still debating on a cat. My baby died last month, catnapped her when she was about 8 weeks old. She was only 6 and a half. So I'm thinking of sneaking to the adoption shelter still and see who sticks out at me. It took me 3 trips there last time for the mutt to catch my eye.

If I time it right today, I can get out an hour early. Work isn't fond of overtime and I love getting out at 4 on a Friday. And sometimes I even hide at the park with an early dinner and just chillax. But not when it's snowy and 20° out! Every town needs a park like ours, a few acres shy of 200, big pond, nice playground, plenty of places to park and enjoy the peace. And I don't mean a big parking lot, just a spot off the path, by yourself, usually a picnic table there. Aahhhhh.

Later!
