Good morning gang, yes, I know, it is afternoon. But, it is my morning LOL.

School was initially delayed 2 hours here this morning and eventually cancelled due to ice. I drove home going 40 mph without incident. I drive 20 miles to work. Before leaving work this morning, we heard that a majority of the staff for another hospital floor called in due to weather. My son and I were just talking about how there weren't any school makeup days yet. Guess we jinxed it LOL.

ff, where do you live again? It is nice that you can walk outside this time of year. What is BJ's? Salmon sure sounds good too.

Chris, I will have to check out broccoli bites. I too have a love hate relationship with pork rinds, depends on what I am making I guess. I have good intentions when I buy a couple of bags, but they usually end up sitting there. e.g. it was a good thing I bought a new bag to make the pizza crust aforementioned only to find out the bag I had on the shelf expired March 2016! I too can't wait to hear about the Jambalaya. I assume the cauli rice was frozen store bought? I haven't looked for it around here. I have made my own.

Lynn, you sure go by many aliases LOL. Becca Smith on Pinterest, I will look you up.

Talk about crazy busy. No lunch break last night. I had a labor patient upon arrival who delivered 1-10-17 at 0110 and baby weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. She better use ones, zeroes and sevens when playing lottery ha ha. Once that delivery was settling down, baby bathed, mom up etc. I admitted another labor patient in very active labor. She hadn't delivered before I left. i can't wait to see when she did.

I had a piece of egg casserole and flax bread when I got home this morning because I was starving. I have exercised, am drinking BPC and had blueberries, cottage cheese, sunflower kernels unsalted and coconut flakes for "breakfast". My lunch I took for last night is still at work.

I wish this cheap smart phone would let me post pics, that shrimp n "grits" I just had was freaking awesome!! Here's how it went down. I melted a stick of butter in a pot with a ton of Creole seasoning. At the same time I zapped a bag of Green Giant riced cauliflower and I peeled 20 shrimp. When the butter melted, I tossed the shrimp in, and the few minutes it took to cook, the cauliflower was done. I added some of the butter concoction to the rice, added all the shrimp on top, not all the liquid, and YUM!!! But I think a half stick of butter would have been plenty, I wasted a lot. Maybe 6 carbs total. Oh, I only used half the bag of cauliflower, it was 2.5 servings in the bag.

Tammy WTG on the whoosh.!
Kal I would love a cruise right about now!
Everyone's recipes sound so good I don't know where to start, Well probably the sweet raspberry thing you created Tammy.
Yes Vicki, so many aliases but only one look..Tired mom.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger yesterday for lunch..It was so pretty..Bacon..Cheese..Onion..Mustard..Pickles.. All on a lovely bun, that I would be tossing out.. Would have been great if they had put the burger on too. Yep it was Monday..All day.
And my friend just called needs a ride..Be back later.

i live in the kingdom of bklyn., ny

also, I do not walk TO shoprite, but I walk IN shoprite. the ground outside with or without snow/ice is too dangerous even with a walker. BJ's is like COSTCO. it is much, much, much larger than the shoprite in my neck of the woods. ergo, I can do my exercise, and do my shopping. it is most important to keep those legs moving, so as to avoid blood clots. AND, I love walking. have a pleasant evening, HEWMONS. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

What does a week without your blood pressure meds/water pills get you? Swelled everything. Feet. Fingers. Face! And not just parts that start with F. But I go today after work. I hate going to the doctor.

Coffee is very nice at the moment, gonna toast a bagel shortly and smear it with cream cheese. Lunch is round 2 of the shrimp n grits, I couldn't help but make a 2nd batch. The old man flies to DC today, so the kids can fend for themselves while I'm at the doc. I'll have a salad when I get home. My appointment is 5:45! They finally got some sense for the working class who can't/don't wanna take off work.

I slept good last night. Not sure why, I went to bed late. Maybe that's why.

Crap! It just hit me I want my cholesterol and thyroid checked, I'll have to fast. Maybe if I can eat lunch by 10, is almost 8 hours enough time? I'll see how it goes.

Call the Dr first thing and ask them what the fast window is to test.

The old man flies to DC today, I've signed up to receive alerts to when he takes off and lands. He sometimes forgets to text when he flies. I think he does it on purpose!

No food after 10am works.

And I'm superstitious when it comes to flight numbers, but his are good, even if he flies back Friday the 13th!

Wow, you Blitzers POST!

Going ok for me today. At my "5 year low" which I hit just before Xmas, but drifted up a bit. Sooo looking forward to shift my next stone (14 lbs) this side of Spring.

What's grits again? Is it like fried oatmeal or just regular porridge. Not from the South, unlucky me! haven't even visited.

FF, you must be weeping today. The temp right now is 41 degrees. Can't believe it was 2 above zero yesterday!

Kal, a cruise to the Caribbean sounds lovely! What a great incentive to get ready for swimwear!

Chris, I was so surprised to see riced cauliflower in the frozen section! Your shrimp and grits sounds so delicious!

Vicki, do you mix all those items together (cottage cheese, blueberries, sunflower seeds and coconut flakes) for breakfast like a cold granola?

Grace, do you mean they left the hamburger out of your meal? Oh my goodness. They better give you gift certificate for a week of free burgers!

Avocado, grits are made of ground corn sort of like a loose polenta. Have you ever had cream of wheat cereal? I think the texture is similar. I like grits with butter and salt on them. Some people put sugar on theirs but that never sounded good to me.

Tammy, I can see why you will only make your raspberry cheesecake chaos in one serving portions! Sounds yummy!

Tony, are you enjoying the spring thaw going on today? By Friday everything will be a skating rink when the cold weather returns.

Marilee, how is the home organization going?

Today is DH and my wedding anniversary. I won't say how many years but we started dating at 16! We both wish we were that slim again. sigh

Abi, Happy Anniversary. Organization hasn't progressed. Somehow I pulled something in my knee and am using the walker. Ans my sisyer had car issues so she didn't make it over.

I like grits both sweet and savory. I have fond memories offried grits served with butter ans syrup.

Avo..No grits is not porridge nor fried oatmeal. It is course ground corn meal. It's boiled to a thick, but creamy consistency. Can be fried than for grit cakes. People go sweet or savory. I like mine with butter and salt. There are also cheese grits. Never order cream of wheat thinking it will be a good substitute!! It is not.
Over all grits are just a wonderful food gift from the south.

Happy anniversary ABI! Yes, they completely left out the burger.
I haven't tried the frozen caulirice yet Chris. My produce section has a big bag of fresh caulirice, so have been buying that. I think I should use the frozen for you shrimp and grits deal.
Marilee, so sorry about your knee, I hope it's not giving you to much pain.
Tony, yuck...The flu..Not you. Hope you're up to par soon.
Oh yes Avo.. WTG, lowest weigh in 5 yrs. What an accomplishment!

Hello everyone,

Crazy busy day (As usual)

Tony, So glad you're back....I just KNEW something wasn't right....it's not like you to be MIA....I flake out from time to time, but NOT YOU!!! I hope you feel better soon!

Marilee, I'm sorry your knee is hurting, that makes things difficult, I know!

Abi, What a stunning wedding pic!! Congratulations!!! DH and I celebrate our 30th anniversary next month.....can't believe it's been 30 years already!!!

Avo, way to go....that's a great accomplishment!

Chris, I hope your Dr. appt goes well!

Lynn, you and Chris have convinced me....I'm looking for riced cauliflower TODAY.....can't wait to try it. Rice is one of my all time favorite foods....so maybe this will be a nice substitute for me??

Well kids, Today is the last day of my 3 day fast....I'm looking forward to dinner this evening! I have to fly to Portland next week for a Corporate summit.....I leave on Tuesday and don't get back until Saturday. DH is so funny, he was really bummed when he realized how long I'd be gone.....says he can't remember the last time we were apart that many days! He decided he'll probably go up to the ranch and hang out there with the kids.....most of his work is up in that area, so it'd be just as easy for him to be there and with the kids around he won't be all alone.

Well, back to work....I'll check in later!

Happy Anniversary Abs. Abs, yes, I mix all of those ingredients together

I think of grits as ground up hominy. Not too bad.

Made it another day, yea. Today, after I woke, I made a turkey Waldorf salad including an apple. I figure a few bites of apple isn't going to kill me LOL

Tony, knock on wood, I haven't had a stomach flu for years.

Tammy, I guess I missed that you were fasting. What type of fast was it? I hope you are able to stay on plan while being out of state.

Sorry to hear about the knee Marilee. Almost there with the replacement.

Chris, that shrimp creole sounded yummy. I will look for cauli rice next time.

Yes Chris, are you OK!?!
Tammy, I personally love the caulirice and have used it in anything that calls for rice. I like it better than caulimash. I hope it works for you.

Vicki, if I am going to have fruit, it's a gonna be a nice green apple. I even ate them in induction ( gasp). But I kind of did my own induction.

Yes Avo 31 carbs for 1 cup and only around half a gram of fiber. I think Chris's shrimp and grits were made with caulirice. If you ever make it South though you will need to try them..Just fast for a day first.

Something did not agree with me. I'll avoid details but it's a good thing for air freshener spray in my bathroom! I thought maybe the shrimp, but one of the kids ate some too and he's fine.

good morning blitzers...

so, i followed up the saltines with some sf jello this morning...i'm definitely feeling better but i'd say i'm at about 60% of normal...i guess i will not start feeling stronger or more energetic until i start moving and eating a bit more, so i am planning to try to make this as normal a day as possible...

emily fell victim last night, two days after the babies got sick...i have offered to help with the girls, but she said "i'm not sure mr. 4 saltines is gonna be able to be much help"...hahaha...dw and youngest son are the only two left standing as well as emmy's dh...i am being very careful not to touch anything they may come in contact with and have not stepped into the kitchen since monday night...i've read you can remain contagious for up to two weeks after feeling better, so i will have to be careful...

at least my menu has not been too complicated!

Grace,

Well 31 carbs is doable once in a while !

Now I'm just wondering if I have been a bit careless, bought these lamb burgers from the butcher yesterday. He said they were spicy, which I assumed was mainly hot sauce added...get home and figure, actually, probably spices+tomato sauce, but I can take a chance. Now I look at the supermarket version of spicy lamb burgers and they contain flour! 9g each! I was expecting zero or max 3g.

Good morning all,

Oh my Chris, I hope you're feeling better quickly!!

Tony, I'm glad you're on the mend....keep disinfectant sprays around and wash your hands a lot!! Emmy's comment is great! She kind of has a point...but Grandpa gets brownie points for trying!

Avo, can you call the butcher and ask him what he put in the burgers? Here in the states, our butchers USUALLY don't put a lot of excessive stuff (ie flour) into things, that usually more the supermarkets, and chains that produce mass quantity. It might be worth asking him???

Lynn, I totally made the caulirice last night, and it was good! Of course it does still taste like cauliflower, but I like cauliflower so that's ok. I do like how it absorbs the flavors you mix into it. We made Taco's last night and I made cilantro/lime caulirice...kind of like the rice at Chipotle...and I was very impressed....I finally have a decent rice substitute!! I also made a taco shell with shredded cheese and it turned out really good....although note to self, next time use low fat cheese so it's crispier. At any rate, over all, dinner was a total LC win!!

Vicki, it was just a traditional fast, no solid foods, only water, coffee, tea and broth for 3 days....it was good. DS and I had been planning it for a while, the purpose wasn't for weight loss, but it certainly didn't hurt!

Abi, I agree, it's tougher to bounce back than it used to be....what's up with that???

Oh my gosh kids, I have some exciting news.....So...I've been with my current management company just over a year (14 months) and I manage 2 separate apartment communities for them. Well, the other day my boss mentioned to me privately that they're creating a new position for a regional manager to over see all of Northern Arizona (7 properties) and basically help her manage all of the site managers (She's in Portland) they feel it'd be beneficial to have a corporate liaison locally to give the managers a more direct point of contact and support and it would take a lot of burden off of the corporate portfolio managers.....she asked me to apply for it!! I did! I still have to go through all of the channels and be approved....but since SHE'S the hiring manager and SHE asked me to apply for it....I'm thinking the odds are pretty good! I'm hoping to hear something definitive next week when I'm in Portland.

Speaking of which, I'd better get back to work! Everyone have a great day!
