i would like to see us all triumph over the holidays.

we cannot use holidays to forget about our behaviors. I am already thinking with what food plus dessert (all within my plan parameters)I will enjoy the next holiday, which is the anniversary of my arrival on earth, namely the Ides of February(the 13th). I will not go hungry or bored on that day, or any other. congrats on your weight losses y'all. I am now about to enjoy bkfst-quite a lot of pork ribs with WF bbq sauce mixed with Chinese mustard. Woah do I feel better today. The funny part, I'm working from home today. Ice and snow coming, don't wanna get stuck. Surprisingly I've been busy. I clocked out and am taking a lunch break.

And the whole family is home today too. The old man and Thing 1 just went to the woods to get the trail camera and see what's on it. Thing 2 is on the Xbox with the new game he just bought.

Guess I should find something for lunch and get back to work.

Later!

had to make alternative bkfst choice.

the Chinese take-out was out of ribs. ergo, I had a pint of chicken broth, and 2 cheeseburgers which I put on 2 slices of low carb toast, and put 1 tsp low carb ketchup. I blew 5 gr net carb on that, BUT it was GOOD! I will check back with the Chinese take-out after JEOPARDY. if they are still out of ribs, I will heat up the chicken and spinach. ff, i think your experiment was a good idea...it helps you to feel in control and to choose once again the plan you want to follow...this is about making better choices every day, voluntarily...good for you for re-rejecting the old ways...

i was the WORST over the holidays but have been sticking to my plan 11 out of 12 days since 1-2-18...i get one cheat day per week...my plan is the torture diet with an important change - dw and i are doing this together and we allow choosing 2 slightly off-plan items each week and we can change those items each week...mine has been cheese and croutons and dw has been yogurt and fruit...we don't allow anything with added sugar (other than a little in condiments), bread, rice, potatoes, pasta except on cheat days...we can eat all the meat and veggies we want any day...it's been remarkably easy to follow...i still haven't weighed, but i feel lighter...

artemis - congrats on someone noticing!...that is a great feeling!...you earned it!

chris, happy you are feeling better - that hung on for a bit, didn't it?

vicki, you are looking good, girl!...kutgw!...hope you enjoy the new job...

where's abi?...how's hubby?...nice heat wave, huh?...lots of snow melt, but back to the deep freeze today...

heading to CT for a 60th anniversary dinner for my in-laws...all the kids coming...should be nice!

Vicki you look terrific! Your new job sounds very good! Hope you are working with some nice people.

FF, good for you for throwing the rest of that meal down the chute! Funny that the cheese tasted better than the meal! I miss having a trash chute. When we lived in the condo in Gulf Shores the chute was right outside our unit. So handy!

Artemis, super that people are noticing you are losing weight!

Lynne, so happy you are down 9 pounds! My poor sister in law who lives in Marietta was up here for the cold weather and a snow storm and she hates the cold!

Chris, how are you doing?

Tony, you crack me up with your comments to FF about his porterhouse.

Tony, I'm still coughing and hocking things up. I'm at about 80% of MY normal And the tastebuds and sense of smell returned today!

Bowling this evening for the brother in laws birthday. I may actually bowl, it's been a while.

Thing 1 didn't make weight at today's county tourney, missed it by .8 of a pound. He was 4 pounds too much when he first weighed in, he hit the weight room or ran a lot to sweat it off. The old man told him yesterday to run on the treadmill, should have listened.

As for the weather, just a light sheet of ice and maybe 2" of snow on top. Not the 1/5" of ice and 3-6 of snow the weather man said. I'm ready for spring and thunderstorms!

I had the best steak EVER today. The bad part, it was chicken fried and came with mashed taters n gravy, cheese grits, and biscuits. The Cracker Barrel. I did manage to have a side salad with it. Whoop de do, right? I avoided a milkshake a few hours later, only from being cold to start with.

CONGRATS to y'all for having a plan...

it does not matter what it is, as long as it works! if it stops working, tweak it! I was quite surprised when I was checking out Netrition. I thought there were only 5 pages of low carb items. there are 37! the coconut oil smells like heaven. although it does not need to be refrigerated, there is no room on the counter. I decided to use it to saute veggies, fish and seafood, and the shirataki noodles. the aforementioned is 100% fiber, ergo there IS a free lunch (or bkfst or dinner). I am trying it tomorrow, for the 1st time. I will saute some in some coconut oil or butter, garlic, and Mrs. Dash along with some Chinese veggies. for red meat and pork I decided to continue to use the grapeseed oil for now. I use very, very little...just enough to get the critter started. many of the cooks on tv use much more grapeseed oil than I. my dinner had no taste whatsoever. unintentionally I ate 8 hours after the tuna salad and pork rinds. I only ate 1/2 the 1/2 chicken and a few forkfuls of the sauted spinach. in any event, I m not hungry. perhaps later I will have some cheese. I STILL have 5 grams of carbs coming to me, but I will limit the cheese to 2 oz. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

chris, hope you get back to 100% soon...how'd you bowl?

Tony hubby is still doing ok for him. He is never really good. Has a hard time walking for any length of time but not dizzy and nauseated like the week before his hospital stay.

I would have gotten that carrot cake to go and eaten it on my cheat day!

we have CHEAT DAY back on FERENGHINAR...

but it has nothing to do with food. today is a great day to stay indoors. I was awake during the night. I ate 4 oz of extra sharp cheddar, not 2. so I used up my carbs for the day. I was STILL hungry an hour later so I enjoyed 3 individual svgs of diet jello (orange, green and red) topped with a rather large amount of sugar free Land o Lakes whipped cream. although zero carbs, I am not very proud of my behavior. However, even I, FF, am not perfect. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I agree that having a plan is so important. I am cycling my carbs which is a lot of work but it does seem to be working for me...at least at the moment. I hope that I can get to the point where it'll be easier such as not having to write everything down. I will continue to record everything at least for the year because I want to have graphs and charts! Is it sad that I find that exciting?!

The ice melted enough yesterday that I could go to the store down the street. It had been looted before the storm and they haven't been able to get their trucks in. So, I couldn't get everything that I needed.

I had planned to make round two of the soup that I made last week but because of the grocery shortage, I am subbing chicken for beef and mushrooms for green beans. Here is the original recipe:
https://lowcarbyum.com/cream-of-chic...up-with-bacon/

I will eventually post some of my own original recipes but I have to figure out how to calculate the nutrition contents.

FF, you will love coconut oil! I use it every day. It has such great nutritional benefits but also it is great for your hair, skin, and nails.

hmmmm, artemis, you have me desiring coconut oil!

abs, thanks for the update...i hope he gets to the point where his mobility becomes easier...i know firsthand how hard it is to be in pain walking...i used to have to think about everything before i did it...sucked...

who is going to the flamingo this morning?...btw, i was offered a doggy bag on the carrot cake, but declined...i am not craving sweets at all and my mind feels so much sharper off sugar, so it's making it easier to say no...believe me, i didn't say no to much over the holidays...

my appetite has not been very big, and although i get much hungrier when i work out, i may hit the gym this morning for the first time since i started my plan...

ff, don't beat yourself up unless you feel like you are losing control - i think you have things in hand :-)

climbed on the scale and i've lost 6 lbs. since i weighed myself between xmas and new year's...i may have weighed even more than 237 on jan 2nd, but i'm going with that number :-) so i'm at 231 which is a few ounces below where i was before the holidays...frustrating to lose the same weight i've lost before, yet again, but at least i'm headed back in the right direction so far in 2018!

haven't cheated yet on cheat day, but i will, just not sure how...

Boy am I paying the price for yesterday!!

But I'm pre-making lunch for this week, that will help me lots. I've got to get my head back in this challenge at work. I have 5 more weeks to lose 8 and some pounds. I don't wanna have to do an egg fast the last week either!

way to go, Tony!

I do not feel guilty. I am very forgiving of myself. but, today it has been so far, a zero carb
day. I had the house special soup, but I am saving the veggies for tomorrow. I am gonna put some of them on top of the zeroodles. I also had 2/3 of a large order of sauceless sliced roast pork with some Chinese mustard. and 1 roast pork egg foo young patty instead of 3. that is it for food for today. after America's Test Kitchen, gonna take a snooze. after the snooze, if I get hungry, I will have a zero carb dessert. the coconut cake (2 to a pkge) is 9 total grams consisting of 5 gr fiber, and 4 gr erythritol sweetener, resulting in zero net carbs. for some reason, I thought it was 2 net grams. I love it when I am wrong like that. I expect to end the day with a zero net gram total. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

You can do it Chris!!
Tony way to go! My son eats in spurts, sometimes he can't get enough and others he could careless. I don't force him to eat or clean his plate though. Being a member of the clean plate club didn't help me..lol.
Vicki you look amazing in your Avi.
FF, I really need to put in a netrition order.
Abi we had a couple warmer days, now back in a cold stretch..cold for Georgia.
Artimis thanks for the link to the soup and I look forward to your original recipes.

Well guys I am one of the lucky ones that will be getting a raise and bonus in February at Walmart. Pretty happy about that . In 2017 I netted less than I paid out in taxes and insurance. My end of year paycheck had me in tears and wondering if working there was even worth it. My fiance may frustrate me to no ends at times, but we would not live as well as we do without him. Plus he adores my mom, which is a good thing since she lives with us.

I hope everyone has a great week!

The kids were hoping for no school today. Originally off, but labeled as a snow make up day. They didn't go Friday from the weather, so they have to today. 2-4" today before it's all over, they're still hoping.

I had made chicken alfredo for the week. OMG it stinks something bad! Today will be ham and cheese for lunch instead.

Football fans? Epic finish to the Saints/Vikings game!

PS, Saturday evening bowling, I saw a friend a few lanes down. She said my herd looked like my body guards when we walked in. One on each side, the biggest was behind me. it probably did, I'm barely 5'6" and they're all 6" or more and 250-350 #'s!

4.4 pounds for me since Jan 1st. Not as much as I'd hoped, but I'll take it. This time, I'm not setting a time limit for myself. When I do, I inevitably don't reach the target and then get frustrated and quit.

Today is a major craving day for me. I have the day off for MLK day. So, I've been drinking lots of coffee and sparkling water and trying to keep myself distracted from food by cleaning out cabinets. My goal is to have everything cleaned and organized by the time I move in a couple of months to make the process a lot easier. It's always scary what you find in the back of the pantry!

ARTEMIS, i can NEVER stay on any diet...

that compels me to avoid food at any time of the day or night, except on religious fast days. if you feel hungry at any time, you should find zero to very low carb choices to fill in the gaps. although I keep to 5-7 gram net carbs, at least thru the Ides of Feb, I eat very high in fat foods. I stop eating when I am no longer hungry. I also try to eat as slowly a

sorry-FAT FINGER SYNDROME... to continue...

I try to eat as slowly as possible (but I do not always succeed, especially after a lifetime of shoveling it in as quickly as possible). this is a behavior I am still working on. i ALWAYS have something to drink at hand, 24/7...non-alcoholic of course. i sampled the coconut cake i got from Netrition. it comes 2 to a pkge. each one is smaller than a Hostess cupcake. i could easily eat both, as the net carb is zero. however to stretch the latinum, i prefer to eat only 1. here is where it gets interesting. although i NEVER count calories, 1 portion totals 38 calories. if u subtract the fiber and erythritol calories, you are left with only TWO calories. however, as there are, if memory serves, 2 grams of protein, their math is off somewhat. the next time i eat one, i will check the label again. in any case, for those who care, even the total calorie content is quite low. tonight, i will have some left over Chinese food incl SOME of the veggies i saved from yesterday's House Special Soup. It is Jan 15, which means new episodes of SUPERGIRL, which begins 1 hour from now. check your local listings. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Is this congestion EVER gonna leave?! I'm tired of it.

Two hour delay for the kids this morning. Weather man said wind chill between -20 & -10║F this morning. I hope the wind didn't blow the snow too much last night, I need to get to work. And I swear we're the last road in the county to get plowed, they take their sweet time.

Plan A on lunch for this week failed. And there's no Plan B so I'm just winging it today. I see a trip to Hardee's for a low carb breakfast bowl. Possible a 2nd so I can have lunch.

Stay warm!

Nah, I found 2 leftover sausage links and fried 2 eggs for breakfast. Cheese and pastrami for lunch.

Chia seeds...I can't! I know they're super good for you with all of their health benefits, but for whatever reason, they smell and taste like dirt to me! From what I've read on the web, some people have the same reaction that I do while others find them tasteless. There are many versions of low carb pudding using chia seeds. I thought that the cocoa powder would mask the flavor so I tried it yesterday...WRONG! I think it only heightened the flavor, bleck! It's very rare that something tastes so bad that I physically can't choke it down but man oh man! What a waste of cocoa and stevia!

I've never tried chia seeds, I'm a little afraid of them! Plus it always makes me think of growing a chia pet

I forgot my lunch! I'll snack on dill pickle sunflower seeds and a beef stick. I'd better Google the carbs in that stick!
