SATURDAY’S ROLL CALL, JAN. 13

Have a pleasant night, hopefully a good night’s sleep for all of us. Chilly night, time to crawl into my nest. Probably will do Wal Mart in the morning.

Wishing our friends with illness and disturbed systems to feel better.

See you in the morning

Good morning,

Hope everyone is doing well today. I'm joining some friends today to see an exhibit that is featuring the various pins that Madeline Albright wore as Secretary of State. It should be interesting. Then, we're going out to lunch. Even though it's only 30 degrees right now, it's supposed to warm up to the 50s by the afternoon.

I hope you all enjoy your day - let us know what you're up to!

Michele

Thanks Gladys for the update. Sounds good so far.

Enjoy your day Michele. That exhibit of Madeline Albright's pins should be interesting. She is a favorite of mine. Enjoying the book: Good Night from London. Good read.

Enjoy that Wal Mart trip Doris, if you can. Is your heating system working ok?

I seem to be trapped in my house. Cannot really clear the driveway of the snow. There is ice underneath the snow. The road is plowed and I see pavement but not sure when I will be able to get out that 20 feet or so, my driveway. If Tim gets out maybe he will show up and help me. Leah has her 14th birthday today.

Susan at least you could get out. I am catching up on cleaning and reading.

Lots of birds at the feeder.

Stay warm and safe folks.

Hope those with suffering of any sort get relief.

Back again. Got a text from Tim that he and Leah are on their way.

Happy Saturday All.

It is sunny and a pretty, clear blue sky here, lot of snow down again. 6F right now but going down to -14F over night and then some more with the wind chill. Oh joy!

That is wonderful news Gladys. Great he can be home to recover in his own surroundings.

Happy 14th Birthday to Leah! A young woman now Loretta. I hope you get help with your driveway. Do you have a snowblower?

Michele, How interesting an exhibit of pins and a glance from the past.

Doris, Hope you have happy hunting at Wallyworld today. Any bargains?

Waving to All and hope to check back later...

Good morning. Slept in til 10:15 this morning. Did not feel well enough to go to dine out group last night. I am so tired of being sick. With just a few weeks off, I have had this crud since mid September. I guess it is not bacterial because I do not feel significantly better though my throat isn't quite as sore, but still sore. So unlikely we can go to book signing party for a friend who has just published his first book. Called Sacred Dissonance: Dialogue between Christians and Jews.
Hope the rest of you are well.

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Cold and sunny here...pretty, just cold. I'm staying in tho. The baby will be over around 2. We do have fun with him. He is so cute, and agreeable... hardly ever cries. We just play and play, take a nap with him, feed him...and he will toddle around by himself playing and minding his own business. Easy kid. Enjoyable.

3 day weekend w/ MLK day. That works for me.

Walt (hubby) has his buddy over today. They will talk guns and motorcyles out in the garage. I am fixing them some chili mac...W's favorite.

I have a few craft projects to work on...if the baby lets me. I can usually do SOME things with him here. Lucky for me he's SHORT! I just do things over his head/reach!

My youngest son, and oldest daughter just left for a funeral. Her bff's dad had a heart attack in bed... found him on the floor, out of the blue. No warning. So sad. The kids looked nice tho, so I had to get a photo. That boy (age 25) never dresses nice. I was trying to convince him this morning that every man needs at least one button up shirt! He didn't believe me. Ended up borrowing one from his roommate. I said, "See? He knows that a guy needs a button up!" Now I know what to get him for his birthday.

Well darn, I just put the orchids back out side and now have to get them in again, 38 degrees tonight. Seriously.........what is up with this? Florida doesn't get this cold this often, not liking it one bit.

Going to "the boys" tonight for dinner. I bought them some flowers at the hospital gift shop, think they'll like them. Russell is fixing Boston Scrod. We don't get that in FL much.

The increase in the steroids have done what they are supposed to do.......no hives. Whew, relief. Do not like taking more steroids but the alternative is not what I want for sure either.
Doris the "disturbed system" remark made me laugh.

Babette, your illness is a curiosity. I surely hope you get to feeling better soon. That book sounds like a good one, hope you can get to the book signing.

Stay warm ladies!

Ginny, was going to ask about your orchids, and sure enough! Glad the hives have gone again. Ha, I hoped no one would be offended by “disturbed system”, many disturbed systems on my other two forums, too. How nic yo have a good meal again at your nearby friends. I’ve had scrod before, I think in Carmel, Calif. years ago. Brings to mind an embarrassment, sort of a ritzy place because it was one of our anniversaries and I had on a silky blouse with pearl buttons and the buttons would come undone by themselves from time to time. Well, the waiter kept coming to our table to ask me questions about my order, and after awhile, dh and I would sit and giggle together but suddenly he looked at me in horror, most of my blouse was undone in front, black bra in sight, oh my, we laughed until we cried, and laughed every time we ate in a fancy restaurant again, at the memory. I donated that blouse though.....

Gladys, thanks for letting us know that Clarence’s operation went well, I hope he has a full recovery. Can he lie in his bed again?

Susan, goodness me on the cold there, stay put! Does your power go out now and then?

Loretta, glad Tim and Leah are coming to work on the driveway. Leah 14, I can hardly remember my boys at that age. So you will have some company while they are there helping you. I have no birds anywhere, even at the Wal Mart parking lot there were none. Strange.

Babette, that illness of yours is dumbfounding. Weren’t you hoping to go to the desert in Feb. too? That specialist appt. sure is taking forever!

Michele, I’d like to see that exhibit you are going to, you are lucky to have friends that enjoy some culture! Would they ever go on a group tour to someplace farther away?

Sunny, I had forgotten about Monday being a holiday, the appliance repair guy is coming, they don’t care about anything apparently.

Buffie’s pickup was finally fixed yesterday, by gosh and by golly.

I’m heating up store bought Chinese food for dinner this evening and spending my wild Saturday night watching my RFD-TV shows, Yee Haw.........

I love the story and will probably think of it tonight eating my scrod. You said on other sites people have disturbed systems, no one with hives I take it. Just wondering.

Nope, Ginny, mostly flu and abdominal pain.... no one has ever heard of your hive condition before!

Pleasant evening to you and everyone.

We're supposed to be down to 33 F by morning. Brrrrrr! Skipped the monthly breakfast this a.m. We decided it was too cold and drizzly.
Gladys, hope that Clarence has a good recovery.

Julie, it's going to be 34 here in the morning too. And then there's a chance for a 'wintery mix' on Tuesday and Thursday!!! We are definitely not used to this

Stay warm and try to get some good sleep,
Michele

Julie I love Betty Boop. I remember Little LuLu too. They were so cute.

Today was another in the 80's day. Rain is coming, so the weather man says, sometime next week. Daughter brought over a movie of hers to share. "Mountain Between Us" We both enjoyed that. Not much happening here other than a nice bar-bq steak with Brussels sprouts for dinner tonight.

Gladys thank you for letting us know how C is. Glad he is home and doing well.

Ginny sure glad to hear your hives are gone. That stuff is miserable. What is scrod?

Nite ladies. Have a restful sleep.
