Interesting article about 5:2

http://vitals.lifehacker.com/starvin...bad-1793788417

LifeHacker - very click-bait headline, but a fast, fun read. Might be good for explaining IF/JUDDD/ADF WOE to resistamt folks in our lives.

Diabetes is never "cured". If you go back to eating the way you used to...your blood sugar will go up.

Of course (though it would take a little time). You can say the same thing about obesity. Nonetheless, I second Carly's point (for any significant weight loss, actually): At my top weight, my numbers were in the range of moderate type 2 diabetes: 6.7 A1C and 157 FBG. Now they are normal.

It cured her diabetes, because she has been maintaining her healthy weight and eating habits for 5 years now, and is unlikely to ever go back to eating the way she used to, which would (gradually) bring back diabetic levels. Hope that clears it up.

At least that quote was from one of the idiotic commenters, and not the article itself!

(Better not to read those, I find).

Oops I forgot to post that it was a comment from the article. I get a kick out of the comments on articles - it usually only takes a couple before someone proves they don't know what they are talking about.

Oh, Boy,
Today was my DD, and since I started Juddd, Feb,26 at 128
I have been great on my UDs at 1,200
And DD have been 0 cals.
But today went Down hill,@ over hill and far Away.
I ate and went way over> Didn't count but my guess is way over 2000
I feel like crying .{I might too.
When I weigh in Sat.>1 st. I know I won't be at my goal of 118or even 119{ I will be way up I know it.
I was doing so good too.
I Don't know if Im worried about seeing April 26 a NEuological@ *Spine .
I have blood work and 2 MRI Without dye and 1with dye.On the 4th
Just hope those small Schwannomia have Not grown.{Nerve sheath tumors 2 small pea size.
Just seems like I'm hit on both ends.
I want to stay with goal and not mess up and keep going. Start tomorrwo and regroup some how. Does this fall mean I have to really restart over on Judd from day 1?
Just had to talk. even to self.
I feel bad. just because of numbers I know I wont teach on April 1st.
Thanks
Janet

Janet, you are doing fantastic. Remember that JUDDD is the most forgiving WOE there is - it happens to everyone. We mess up one DD, and then the next day needs to be an UD, and you carry on as usual.

Sending you hugs and all my support

My doctor said I'm no longer diabetic and unless I regain 75 pounds he has no reason to believe I will be again.

I still eat, within reason, the foods I always ate, I just fast EOD. By that I mean that I don't follow a low carb diet, so it's not the reduction of sugar or carbs causing the absence of high BS.

I had a yummy piece of carrot cake over the weekend and a handful of yogurt cover pretzels last night.

No, not at all. Just pick yourself and carry on.

Janet, more than any other WOE - JUDDD is about progress, not perfection. And it reads like you have plenty on your mind with your upcoming scans and tests plus your neurological consult later in the month.

JUDDD works with you and your life, not against you. There is no special metabolic state to be reached and that can be lost for days or weeks at a time. Life happens and we react the way that we do. We look at incidents that trigger episodes that we regret, see if we can learn something useful from them, and then move on.

An occasional slip is a predictor of nothing and says little about your success with JUDDD. Being able to move on from slips and return to JUDDD predicts a lot about your success with JUDDD.

Best wishes.

I'll add that the occasionally high UD is not a bad thing. Sometimes it's actually a good shake up, for those like us, that have much smaller calorie budgets than others.

Thanks every one.
All of you have picked me up.
The next day after a bad DD{For me.> I regrouped and I'm back on track.
On my weigh in on the 1st. I was 120lbs{Not 118 like I wanted but not bad.
I loss for month 6 lbs. and I lost because of JUDDd and my will power.{But really i lost 8lbs. For I started Juddd Feb26th at 128 and March 1st. I was 126 and April 1st.120 So good.
I like Juddd and it is easier for me to just do a true fast. But when I reach goal and I hit 110lbs. I can play with down days.
But that is down the road.
I feel great.
I know I have said this before> I want to thank you all so much for your thoughts and being nice to all .
It helps to find a site that does this and one that also helps and teaches us New comers.

I'm back and I will make it and stay with Juddd.
For some reson Juddd seems to bring out the best in you and makes u feel good.
I hope Barbo is doing well.
And Carly you will be fine.
Slow, I love reading your post. and of course all you others too.
Have a good day with Sunshine that shines on you.
