ugly green bean fries

I just discovered how to make these! I really like them with sugarfree or low sugar ketchup... fixes that crunchy fix I need with meals sometimes

Sounds great, how do you make them?

I like them too! I am actually on a green bean run. Having them for dinner but pan fried in bacon fat.

Ugly fries are made by tossing them in an oil that can take high temps like avocado oil along with a bit of garlic salt and baked at 425 for about 20 minutes - tossing at 10.

Do you use fresh or frozen green beans?

Thanks, didn't know that about avo oil and actually have a bottle in the cupboard, so will try for sure!

I haven't made these in ages - need to do so!

I love the Trader Joe's frozen French-style green beans for this. I toss them in melted bacon fat, then spread out on a parchment-lined baking sheet, sprinkle with a little garlic salt, and roast at 400* til they're browning up, tossing every 5 minutes or so. Love them!

I just spray a little olive oil on them and microwave them.. I use fresh, luckily my garden is still producing them

I microwave for 4 to 6 minutes, but you gotta watch them because they can burn quickly..

This sounds great! I eat a lot of green beans cooked in butter with salt, pepper, and garlic.
But I definitely need more crunchy things. Green beans baked crunchy in bacon grease sounds awesome!
I sometimes cook cauliflower this way in oven with oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. But it takes forever to get them crispy! They taste good, but never as crispy as I'd like because some parts start burning before others get crispy. I think the great beans will work better.
