Good morning all,

Julie - How exciting and sad that your son is leaving for college. I do have to say been there and you might be surprised how often they do come home for weekends. I felt like mine were always here even though they were in school. George Mason is a good school and I know lots of kids that go there. My third son is applying this year there so just maybe they could be friends, lol....

Doing well. Had the worst wine craving yesterday but didn't have any. It was a stressful day. We are selling our sheep and two more left yesterday. Tonight is my second dose of cancer meds. Not as scared as last week, but still not wanting them. I do feel a bit better through so something is working in my favor.

Enjoy this beautiful weather everybody!!!!!!

Goal = 167

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, stevia
L - sausage, 2 organic eggs
D - taco salad, cheese, sour cream, tomato

Weight:
Aug 1 - 178.2

Aug 3 - 180.2
Aug 4 - 178.6

Pam, I hope you're right!! I hope he does visit a lot! I'm sure it will be a tough transition for all of us. It is a good school and I'm sure he will do well and have fun. I'm glad to hear the meds might be helping and I'm hopeful the side affects aren't terrible.

I did well with foods at the restaurant last night and stuck with my ribeye steak. I even skipped the burgundy sauce it came in for fear there would be hidden sugars. However, my planned one glass of wine turned into 3 as the waitress kept filling our glasses as we had 2 bottles for the table. I woke up with a headache as my body just can't handle much wine anymore with this WOE. I still pushed through it this morning and did a 4.25 mile walk. I feel much better now. I just had my breakfast of coffee with half and half and my almond flour pancakes. Yummo!! Those are always a nice treat.

I had a little movement on my weight this week and I'm hopeful that I finally hit 50 lbs down this week! Last time I did this in 2013 I lost 50 lbs in less than 6 months so it's definitely slower and harder this time. I'm praying I can keep it off this time and maintain this lifestyle forever. Looking back, I don't understand how I lost the fight for so long and gained all the weight back and then some.

Hi and thank you all for the warm welcome. I've had some slip ups this week, but since I started induction a week ago today, I have maintained a 5 pound loss. I'll take that! I know it could have been more had I not given into temptation (hubby doesn't get it, is skinny, and won't take no for an answer to eating out sometimes - ) next week he will have to take NO for an answer.

I managed to get into ketosis pretty quick, but I've been trying to low carb for a while now so my carb stores were down already. I noticed one day that I got kicked out of ketosis even while I was doing induction perfectly and getting in a treadmill workout followed by some time in the sauna. Hubby had gotten up in the midst of my treadmill workout and laid some pretty stressful information on me that put me in a tailspin. I later looked online and read that stress and cortisol can kick you out of ketosis!

Now I realize that in addition to not eating out, I also have to not stress out! I'm working on upping my B Vitamins. Any other suggestions?

Does anyone ever eat just the pizza topping? It is sausage, mushrooms, black olives and onion with cheese and tomato sauce. The count on the LoseIt app doesnt look complete. Thanks"

IT IS SO GOOD TO BE BACK!!!!

Good evening beauties

I took some time away because there was just so much going on and I was losing focus and having way too many cheats. I ended up not weighing for about a week (crazy right since I am so obsessed with my scale). I was still 157 even with a few cheats so I was pleased with that. I then started to change things up a bit by adding a few more carbs here and there, BIG MISTAKE. I lost total control and started to eat just about everything. Needless to say the scale is up and I have gained almost 10lbs. The worst thing about it is how crappy I feel both physically and mentally. I have been beating myself up this week attempting to get refocused but kept making up excuses as to why one more chip or another piece of chocolate wasn't going to make things that much worse.

The scale was a whopping 166 this morning and I decided today is the day I take control of my life, health and happiness. I went to the supermarket and loaded up on all my foods and I also meal prepped for the entire week. I tried this for two weeks during this past month and realized that if I don't have to cook everyday that I am less tempted to cheat. I cooked my veggies and meat and for hubby I added a starch.

Today I am feeling like I am gaining control of my life again. I am happy to be back with my friends and so very happy to see so many familiar faces and new ones as well. Looking forward to losing some of this weight and so happy that I made the decision to come back on here. You ladies helped me so much in the past and I know that I have come to the right place for the motivation and support that I need. Now let me update my stats with this horrible number. Hopefully come Sept 1st I will be able to change it to a much lower number. Have a great evening

Good morning all,

Was good yesterday, but scales up. I yelled at the scale but it didn't move. I was tossing and turning last night in pain, really thinking this medicine isn't working and woke up all swollen today. I know the weight is just from the swelling, but darn it. I am working so hard at every thing. I am so stressed out with doctors, money, my health, and well life......And of course our tractor broke

Hummingbird - I agree stress makes your body hold onto weight!

Ameenah- Great to see you. I am so glad you are back. We missed you!!!!!!

cstyles- yes I do sometimes. It doesn't seem to fill me up but that's probably just in my head. I prefer to make Linda's deep dish pizza and enjoy that. I will make reg pizzas for the kids and Linda's for me and hubby. Loaded with pepperoni, sausage, onion and peppers. So yummmy.....

Goal = 167

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, stevia
L - sausage, 2 organic eggs
D - creamy chicken veggie soup

Happy Monday everyone. Stayed low-carb the entire weekend without any slips. I have yet to figure out why weekends are the hardest. I guess because I'm home and not as busy as when I'm working. And I learned yet again why I don't go to the grocery store when I'm hungry. I have so much food in my refrigerator it's ridiculous. The hubby has started watching what he eats so this makes it a lot easier. He's not doing low-carb (the man HATES salads, veggies and pretty much anything that is good for you) but he's grilling out constantly with chicken and pork chops and that makes it easier on me so I don't have to cook two different meals.
I tried a new way of eating spaghetti squash last night. I nuked the squash and then pulled the squash and mixed in heavy whipping cream, butter, parmesan cheese, green onions and salt and pepper and then baked it. It was REALLY good.

Menu:
B: Advant shake
L: Ham and cheese roll-up, cherry peppers
D: Grilled shrimp, leftover spaghetti squash

6-5: 273.5
6-30: 253.8
7-31: 244.0

August goal: 230 (fingers crossed)
8-1: 241.1
8-2: 240.1
8-3: 240.4
8-4: 240.0
8-5: 239.4
8-7: 240.6
8-8: 242.2
8-9: 240.4
8-10: 240.0
8-11: 239.2
8-12: 237.8
8-13: 237.4
8-14: 237.0

KHAY my sister makes a spaghetti squash for me that doesnt have cheese on it
Saute black olives sweet onions red peppers and fresh garlic..tomatoes are optional if you use them you can either saute them separately
or dont saute at all and put them on top chopped and cold..she sautes in salted irish butter lots of it..
then mixes it all into the cooked spaghetti squash i love it so much i will eat it cold or i heat it up in a frying pan with irish butter..Its so Delicious
She eats it with Parmesan cheese on top shredded fine

Good morning beauties

Fembomb Hello to you. It's great meeting you. So sorry to hear about your health issues but loving your attitude. I can already tell that you are going to be a wealth of information for all of us. I pray all goes well today when you add in some protein.

Pam I am so sorry to hear that you are still having difficulties with your health. I hope that this new treatment will soon bring you some relief. It's so stressful dealing with medical issues and everything that comes along with it. Remember stay positive and hang in there. Some days are definitely more difficult than others but you got this. I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

Casey Thanks. I am really happy to be back. I remembered time and time again how you always mentioned that this is a way of eating for life. I understand this now more than ever. I have to commit to stay on plan and not let life get in the way. I also realized how much I enjoyed this WOE and how successful one can truly be if they stick to plan. Thanks for welcoming me back and not judging me for staying away for so long.

Khay Great job staying on plan for the weekend. I always struggle with the weekend mostly because hubby is home and we run most errands during the weekend which usually means eating out. If we are not eating out we end up ordering food. I have to remind myself of the progress made throughout the week and how I don't want to mess that up. It helps some days and others, oh well you know how it is. Congrats on a successful weekend and keep up the nice losses.

Menu

I will start posting my menus tomorrow. Today will be my first day and I will be staying at induction levels. I was super busy yesterday with housework, shopping and meal prepping and by the time I crawled into bed I was sore all over. I got out of bed around midnight and had to take a naproxen and a muscle relaxer. I feel a little better but still sore. At least all my chores and cooking are done so I can relax a little today.

Funny thing happened this morning, I started watching my niece's kids again a few days out of the week and they each walk in with a container full of munchkins (the glazed ones which are my favorite). I had to laugh and say to myself "not today, today I am in control of everything that goes into my mouth".. Hoping and praying that I can continue to stay motivated so that I can be successful once again.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy it to the fullest.

I do have a quick question for all of you. My legs have been bothering me tremendously. I get leg cramps and aside from them cramping my legs are just sore, especially my shins. I drink a bunch of water and take a multi-vitamin so I'm not sure what the deal is. I've even started adding extra salt to everything. Suggestions anyone???

Khay Leg cramps can be so horrible especially when they interrupt your sleep. You seem to be doing lots of what actually helps with them so hopefully you will get some relief soon. Have you ever tried bone broth? I have read that it helps with the cramps and also induction flu. I have never made it but did buy some chicken broth at the market yesterday in case the flu hits and to help with the leg cramps. I also read that increasing your magnesium helps as well. I hope they stop soon.

Khay - Try bone broth, extra salt or I take Potassium Gluconate. One to two tablets depending how bad the cramps are. I actually haven't taking any in a long time so your body does adjust. You can get it the store in the vitamin section. It works fast.

Wow you guys those spaghetti squash recipes sound to die for. I have spaghetti squash on the menu but with sloppy joe mix to top it. I will add those for future dinners. yum....

KHAY its potassium some people benefit from just adding lots of salt ..although that is hard on your heart ..personally i use coconut water ..you cannot use it if you are in induction..you can use SWISS CHARD..boil or steam for a very long time 2 bunches of swiss chard and i mean a loong time because you want it tender then put olive oil or butter on it..it will Drastically Increase your potassium levels...
4700 mg is what Mayo Clinic says we need
3500 mg per day is more reasonable
On Atkins if you are eating under 20 net carbs you will have to use swiss chard
Also COFFEE has a good bit of potassium
But be careful how much you drink thats how i got dehydrated
Potassium and Salt need to be in balance for your heart
That is why i am not a fan of trying to cure leg cramps with just salt
Its kind of Risky esp over the age of 35

COFFEE less than 1 carb in 8 oz has 128 mg potassium
SWISS CHARD 2 BUNCHES BOILED yes Eat the whole thing to yourself in 2 bunches it has less than 6 net carbs and almost 2000 mg of POTASSIUM!!

1 cup yogurt -- 573 mg potassium
1 (4-ounce) pork chop (boneless) -- 514 mg.
1 cup cooked chopped broccoli -- 458 mg.
1/2 avocado -- 436 mg.
https://www.verywell.com/quick-quiz-...assium-2242225

SALMON 1/3 lb which is a bit over a 5 oz steak has 660 mg potassium
TILAPIA FISH 4 oz piece of fish has 350 mg potassium

Here is a list of high potassium meats
http://www.livestrong.com/article/83...igh-potassium/

I drink Taste Nirvana Brand Coconut Water
Which you can get at Sprouts or Whole Foods
BUT it has 15 grams of carbs in exchange for 400 mg potassium

get BOTH potassium and salt and the cramps will go away Cramps mean potassium is low not salt but the salt is needed with the potassium

Honestly KHAY if you love Avacados you could eat 2 of them
And get Loads of potassium
I wish i could i love them
But i am very Allergic to them
I think green have more than brown but both are High
Also Acorn Squash which is very tasty with cinnamon and a no sugar sweetner
and Spinach

Acorn Squash is 20 net carbs in a cup so again maybe too high
I eat up to 80 net a day so i use that sometimes
Try to add up what your potassium amounts are daily
Until you start to feel better
And drink all the water that Atkins recommends for your body weight

Hi Everyone!

Ameenah! So glad you're back!

Life has been super busy as I am getting ready to host the family this coming weekend to celebrate DD's 7th birthday, as well as only about 2 more weeks until school starts! Where has the time gone?!

I too have been in that limbo of being on plan for a couple of days and then having a cheat which leads to more cheats and then the scale goes back up. The cycle continues and after this week as we approach the start of the school year and get back into the normal routine, I know that will help me gain better control again. But for now, I'm here and I'm being accountable, even if I haven't been perfect.

B - omelette with bacon, cheese, peppers, tomato and salsa
L - cheddar sausage
D - mango coconut marinated shrimp

Well, the scale is marching upwards, but I'm not surprised. This weekend I actually had two evenings of drinking, and the first one I ate like there was no tomorrow. Low carb stuff, but just way too much of it. And I'm still giving in to late night snacking almost every night. I think it's been the stress of getting kids ready for school and getting back into the school-year mindset.

School started this morning, and I already feel better. I'm going back to the basics, drinking more water, and eating way less dairy and no nuts. I'm going to try cutting out cream cheese and sour cream, they seem to be triggering me to overeat. I'm going to meat and eggs for a while.

I'm still trying to get in 10k steps a day, but the weekends are always horrible. My kids are around, I have no schedule, and time seems to rush by with no planning or forethought. Then I wake up Monday morning thinking "what happened?" It's cloudy and fall-like weather today, and I'm actually glad about it. It's easier to be home and live a more routine life once summer's done, and the cold may give me the motivation to actually get to the gym. At least that's my hope.

Kelly Perfectly put - I'm at least here and accountable, and that's the most important start. Definitely not perfect, but one thing at a time! Happy birthday to DD, what a wonderful age. I miss having young ones at home.

fembomb Too bad about avocados, I just love them!

khay I also get really bad leg cramps, I drink a cup of broth at night with some of the lite salt in it (which is potassium). If that doesn't fix it, it means I'm dehydrated (which happened last night after too much wine). I hate getting woken up with leg cramps, hopefully you find some relief! And thanks for posting the spaghetti squash recipe, that sounds amazing.

Ameenah Welcome back! We'll restart together, and hopefully by September we can say goodbye to the 160's for good!!

Pam Darn that scale! fembomb's right, water weighs so much, you know it will come back down once the swelling gets better. Hopefully you get that whoosh soon!

hi, Susan! A couple of things jumped out at me in your post...
When you say "the weekends are horrible" and "I have no schedule" - those are clues to things that can actively be addressed! SET a schedule and let everyone know what that is - Like, maybe, tell everyone that you'll be going for a walk at 7 am - Or invite your husband or SO for an after dinner walk. Build it in to your day, but make yourself a priority - so you're not a victim of the kids schedule! I enjoy my early morning walks, or going to the gym, and then I'm able to accommodate whatever comes my way during the day. Stress happens, life happens, but that doesn't have to translate to choosing to eat off plan or over eat.

Just my two cents

Kelly So glad to be back and this time I am here to stay. This is the best support group ever and I owe much of my previous success to all of you. to your daughter. Hope she has a great birthday celebration this weekend.

Happymom Sounds like a plan. We just have to stay motivated and focused. We got this.

Nihold That dreaded TOM can wreak havoc on our lives in more ways than one. The good thing is that the weight and bloating usually disappear after a few days. I am waiting for mine as well. I am actually about 10 days late, the joys of peri menopause, one month it comes on twice for me and then another it's a no show

Casey

Feeling good about my food choices today. Hoping to see a downward trend soon.

Thanks for the reply, Pam. I did eat some this am, but felt pretty wicked. I had saved a Pinterest recipe for a pepperoni "pizza" casserole with very lowcarbs. I think I may try that after my next grocery run.

Good morning all,

Puppy is not letting me sleep in. That's ok today I have tons to do. Finally taking my son to get his permit. So weird all my boys waiting until way late to get there permit. He even has a car in the driveway waiting for him. Getting slammed with bill, need to pay for plan tickets to Texas, farm animals need food. I wish I could keep some of the money we make. Time to work on the budget as we get paid today!

cstyles - that casserole sounds really good. Can you post that recipe? it might be a good sub for a pizza night with the kids. Have that and a side salad and it's all low carb and no feeling guilt for serving them bad stuff.

Ameenah - I am like that now. I use to get Tom 2 times a month forever then over the last 4 months I have been skipping, including this one. Last month it came around the 5th so I too am 10 days late. Still get the hormones though and mood swings.

Kelly - Happy birthday to your daughter!!!!!!

Goal = 167

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, stevia
