I AM STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE BETTER.

i was quite literally at death's door in feb, and most of march. between the flu, the laryngitis, the coughing, and the accident, i was not in an enviable state. today, i am going to the bank, and the shoprite. what saved my bacon was my music, especially, the METOPERA sat afternoon opera broadcasts, and all the juicy stuff on u-tube, visual and audible. co-equal with the aforementioned was, and IS...STAYING ON PLAN. using my misfortunes as an excuse to endulge in starches and sweets, i have learned from past personal history, would not make me feel any better, AND would indeed make me feel much, much worse. tomorrow i am having my abode cleaned by a professional crew. i explained to management that my friend is coming on Sunday to clean this place, but i was given an ultimatum. if it is not clean by Thursday, i will be out on my A$$ on (Good) Friday. they have all the compassion of Pilate, Himmler, Goering and their gang. once the fire dept got me back off the floor, it was too dangerous to bend down to pick up anything that fell on the floor...hence the mess. also, the wheels of the walker tracks in dirt from the outside. you can see the pattern of the walker wheel movements on the floor. well, y'all have some idea of what life was like recently. i hope to be still here to begin the next Blitz, the eleventh anniversary of the Blitzes, w/o which i would most certainly NOT be around. pulling an all-nighter, PURPOSELY

i have not done that since my college days during final exams week, and of course, while all my contemporaries were doing grass, hash, ludes and coke etc, i was doing caffeine. when the cleaning crew gets here, i will continue working, so that there will be 9 man hours of work per hour instead of 6. in case there is a danger of fallege or slippage, they will be here to rescue me. i am also giving serious thought to getting a home attendant, at least for the short term, until i am back on my feet, w/o the need for a walker or a cane. i will need someone to come 9 or 10 hours a week, divided between mon, wed, and Friday. an easy gig for whomever they send (once the shock of seeing a bona fide ET wears off.) all he or she has to do, is watch me do some housework, and help getting me in and out of the bath/shower. on the other days, i can sit on the bathroom bowl, and do my own grooming, with a wash cloth, soap etc. also, once every 10 days, he/she can walk with me to the shoprite, then sit by the Dunkin' whilst i go up and down the aisles and get what i need. once i am safely back in my building, he/she can go home. well that is the general scheme of things. i will call the dept of soc svcs in the hospital in which i used to work, and arrange a detailed discussion tete-a-tete to arrange the best deal possible. well, enough for now. btw, if any of y'all have any personal experience with a home attendant, this troll would love to hear about it. Ff you sound up beat and energetic ! It's a bummer when you can't get around as safely as you would like. I think your plans are very sensible.

Good morning! Vacation from work is so nice! I was off plan yesterday, we ate out for our anniversary and I had no intent on trying to stay low carb. An Italian restaurant where they have loaded nachoes and the chips are deep fried lasagna noodles.

But I'm on plan today, going to make pork riblets in the crock pot, like a Mississippi pot roast but only with riblets. I assume they'll be good.

Rainy day, my only plan is run to the vet for the mutt's flea/heartworm monthly pill.

ff, sounds like you've been through a LOT...much more than we were aware of...i think the idea of getting some help at home is a good one...i would imagine it is a bit different in a big city, but many people around here maintain their independence by having people come into their homes to assist them with the types of tasks you mentioned...my grandmother was able to stay in her home with help that grew to a live-in aide near the end of her life...my mom had us, but also a cleaning person who came in since she was a fanatic about her house...

keep us posted...

chris, happy you and the old man had a nice italian dinner...never heard of noodle nachos, but i'd be up for trying them...

i pulled the camaro out of storage today...hoping to get a nice cruising day on saturday...

i do NOT want the home attendant to do work.

he needs to be on the premises to observe me, while i do the work. also to walk with me to the shoprite. while i walk the aisles, he can sit at the Dunkin, and drink coffee. there is little i can safely do, being alone in the house. Again, let me wish y'all happy Passover/Easter. Tomorrow, before i go beddy-bye, i will create the new Blitz. april 1 will be the 11th anniversary of the blitzes. i remember that day like it was yesterday. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Happy Good Friday! I did absolutely nothing today except take a nap on the new couch. It's quite comfy, I slept so good and too long on one side, now my hip hurts. Oh, I did clean a little, baked cookies for the herd. Didn't feel like grocery shopping, but I should have, nice and sunny today, tomorrow is gonna rain. Oh well. And I was home alone all day!

Thing 1's first baseball game tomorrow has been cancelled, I guess since it's to be extremely windy. Good, I won't have to get up early.

Have a good weekend and a Happy Easter!

ff, you may remember it like it was yesterday, but i'm pretty sure it was 2010 and this will be the 8th anniversary...haha...hence we are finishing up blitz XXXII = 96 months...

it will be good to have someone to watch you and help you if you encounter something beyond your current capabilities...

chris, congrats on the new, comfy sofa...

abs, looks like we are getting a little Spring tomorrow...

the kids are here overnight, so grandpa is happy!

Good morning Blitzers! Enjoying a 3 day weekend. Most of the plant had Good Friday off but third shift was given the option of that or Easter Sunday. We took Sunday.

The family will go to my sister's in Walpole. DH bought the nieces and nephews chocolate bunnies. I am making the deviled eggs.

I am still being pretty consistent with the low carb. No sweets, not even low carb options. Weight loss is still slow but trending down. 7 pounds so far.

Tony enjoy those little kids!

Chris glad you are enjoying the new couch! Hope the hip feels ok now.

FF I really am impressed you arranged to make your routines safe and will still be able to work round your apartment and walk the isles of shop rite.

Happy Easter gang!

BLITZ XXXIII-April1 2018-June 30, 2018

well, here it is...the new Blitz. i am starting with creating a new positive behavior. that is eating AT LEAST 1 meal a day at the table. i ALWAYS do all my eating in front of the tv, which is in my bedroom. the trick is to do my eating when there is nothing i need to see on tv. good luck on your positive behaviors..creating and strengthening them.
