- Played tennis four times in the past month: Not only can I run around the court like a gazelle but I can now get my bod oriented properly to hit my backhand, which is going to help me avoid tennis elbow. Reflexes at net crazy-better too. I know. Geek.
- Lots of space in my dresser. There are literally no slacks left that I've owned for more than two weeks -- except my size 18 jeans that I bought in early September which are now too big to wear anywhere but here on the farm. I still have a few tops, because they don't actually fall off when I wear them. Since I'll be in Sunny Florida for the winter and expect to continue the shrinkage, I'm not buying anything else now.
- My elbows rest comfortably at my sides when I drive or sit in my cozy recliner. More important than one thinks!
- My walking stride has changed, due I think to the shift in balance point and loss of thigh fat. Longer and more springy. Also getting some fast-twitch fiber thanks to tennis and jogging.
- Back ache? What back ache. It's been so long I forget I ever had back ache.
- And maybe best of all, this morning's fasting blood glucose was 99. Now we're talking!
Awesome! Amazing! As our dear JUDDD Bud Nancy would say- I'm doing the happy dance all over the living room for you!

Changed over my seasonal clothes today. Some of my favourite garments are really too big.

Not a great NSV.

This is a bit repetitive, but the new element is that this is my average fasting blood glucose over the past week: 103. That is down 15 mg from a month or two ago; even "normal" by some of the more generous measures.

I have never been on any diabetes medications, but my FBG was 152 in May of 2015 (the week I began my current campaign) and 121 in June 2016. I continued to get FBG readings between 116 and 131 up until a month ago.

Seems to me that my switch to a more LC WOE a month or so ago may be a factor. Or the ongoing weight loss. Whatever. I'm extremely satisfied. Not least because I can now hope for further lowering. Diabetes has never been an issue in my family or for me, so I'm hoping to see my personal norms in the 70s again--though I'd be happy to see a nice 89 mg. Now if only high BP were as easily reversible.

This makes me so happy pOrtia. Have you read the 8 week Blood Sugar Diet by Micheal Mosely? That is what got me out of my stall.

Thanks, Kissa I have heard so many positive things about the 8 WBSD here on LCF, but no, I have not read the book. I appreciate the recommendation!

Had my semi-annual pcp/doctor's visit yesterday. I go to a tiny clinic in my tiny upstate NY town. All the ladies of the staff (and it is exclusively ladies) are exceptionally fine, including my sweet doc. Needless to say, it was celebratory time. Gonna share the Fat Head Pizza recipe with my doc, whose attempt to make healthy cookies with almond flour were a miserable failure. She bought 5 lb and needs something to do with the remainder. I'll fix her right up! LOL

Check out that BP. Lowest. Ever. Can't wait for the blood work to come back (and how often do you hear that!).

I'm so excited for you! Your doctor must be proud! I hope she uses your success with your way of eating to help some of her other patients.

Thanks, Leanne. Yes, she was proud. She told me she's never had a patient lose that much weight without surgical assistance. She got me started (though it took almost two years to take), so I like to share my triumphs with her and her team.

She thinks I should write a book (not too weird, as I am a writer), and I admit there is some appeal there, as I need the $$$, but I'm not sure what approach I could take. I didn't do anything special--I just reached a tipping point, and that's not something you can explain or reproduce in others, no matter how much you want to.

Oh but I think you can inspire people enough to find their path. People just have to know there are many pathways to choose from to help get them to the end.
I think it should be thought about.. just saying

It's a thought. I admit that while I've been thinking about it, I've felt strongly about how much I dislike health and dieting gurus who insist that there is only One Way and Theirs Is It.

In fact my sister's massage therapist just told her that she must in no way do modified fasting, i.e., Stop JUDDD because, bad. And then went on to tell her about her particular Holy Grail. Ticks me off.

My NSV is..... all the pants in my closet either fit are are too big!

Portia nothing I dislike more than someone thinking their way is the only way. Suggestions are appreciated but unless they have proof or at least real reasons why something dangerous they should just stay quiet.

I need to read this thread more often!! I forget its here. These are awesome!! Portia- I think you should write that book. Everyone looks for inspiration and success stories and more people need to hear/read that everyone's journey is different.

My NSV today is also about the clothes- I finally dug out the winter sweaters and in the last few days I have worn three sweaters that I have not worn for maybe about 2 years now. They are not tight, I can button them without it looking like the buttons will pop. My old skirts fit too and this weekend I think I'm going to dig thru the crates of "some day" clothes and see what I fit back in to!! and I am also going to donate these fat pants I hate hate hate.

I do find it so odd though that the scale does not match the clothes - weird huh? Do you think age weighs more ?

I wore a lovely coat today that was bought for me by DH around 10 years ago. It does up more easily now than when he gave it to me.

Lovely 'shopping' in our own wardrobes phoenix.

I think I am going to try to put together a short book--something with short chapters on different topics or retelling various experiences I've had. I could use some extra $$. Don't want to tell anybody how to do weight loss, but like the idea of providing something that comes in bite-sized bits (ar ar) and might help people to focus. Thanks for the encouragement, sistah!

As usual, we have the same thoughts about scales v clothes too. Or scales v size. Even though I haven't had a new low in a couple of weeks, I can feel the difference--my arms and my tummy have shrunk over the same time frame. Obviously we're not the first folks to notice this, but yeah: first I get smaller and then the scale goes down. In that order. All summer.
