Hi!!! Of course I remember you! Lets see if chicken still does me good! (fingers crossed)

Im not dead set on chicken this time. Depends whats going on or where I am. I will include tuna, lean ground turkey, pork chops, or the leanest steak on the menu for a special occasion. I would do eggs without the yolk, but I hate wasting. and egg whites dont feel like much substance. I like a full tummy. Hence why Im still dieting..

Many of you may not be familiar with Dr. McDougall, but Im what he would call a "volume eater". QWL is the only thing that works really well for me.

Down a pound this morning. I've forgot to add that Ive been using Franks Hot Sauce and yellow mustard, every other meal or so. (I can not add ketchup!!) Im expecting at least 3 lbs a week and hoping for 4. That is if my metabolism isn't shot after all these go rounds..

I dont plan on any purposeful exercise. I bought a treadmill a while back for no reason at all. oops I had high hopes of using it in the evenings while catching up on my Netflix, but Im too exhausted come the end of day whether Im on QWL or not. Gosh.. Im so lazy.

Nope. Im all or nothing. (I realize this is not a good quality )

Very interested to hear your results of the rice diet when the time comes. Will you be doing Stillmans Rice Diet? Or Kempner?, which is probably close to the same. I believe kempner allows more rice. Id go with him.

Welcome back Amélieand and aleriaaa!

I am off plan for the next 2 weeks but still checking in. I had my usual 5 pound bloat after being off for a day. Nothing unexpected. This week is just calorie watching and most my carbs will just be veggies and fruit. (I miss them so much!) no pasta or bread type things.

Hope you are having a great time at the beach Bratty!! Good job keeping it clean! Hope you are enjoying some sunshine and time with the kids.

Not sure if you have access to a food processor, but my family has been enjoying banana ice cream. Process frozen bananas (with a little water, skim milk, or soy/nut milk) til creamy, and add what you like. (vanilla extract, or PB, almond butter, cocoa powder, or other frozen fruits like strawberries) We were eating tons of it. I even add greek yogurt or protein powder to it to make a meal. Add healthy topping to your hearts content!! PS - A blender or nutri bullet doesnt work as well

I did use McCormick Rotisserie Seasoning on the big batch of slow cooker chicken. It has a nice flavor. I cooked 8 chk breasts sprinkled with the seasoning, for 8 hours. Took each one out and shredded in a bowl, then poured all the juice back in after it cooled. Eating it that way makes it not so dry. Chicken breasts are always dry for me, from the slow cooker. But poring the juice back in, if I eat it cold, its just wet from the gelatin like juice and easy to get down, if I warm it up its more like triple chicken soup cause the juice/gelatin melts. Most of the time Im just grabbing a few scoops cold from the fridge and eating it as is. keepin it simple.

Whats everyones plan for today? I rootin for ya!!
Hello! Thx for sharing on the chicken, I will try that. Dry chicken is the worst!

Glad to see more ladies posting!! Welcome Amelie!

Ok my results are 3 lbs in 6 days. It took me 2 weeks to lose 3 lbs doing Atkins induction, so this is excellent progress. Yesterday I went off plan for dinner as i had a family BBQ and I wanted to do a carb reload. My appetite had been reduced so I didn't overeat. In fact, after i got home I tried that new halo ice cream that ppl are raving about. I had 1 scoop and did not finish it; it was way too sweet. My weight today is exactly the same as yesterday!

Today I am starting 6 days of the "Rick Quick Weight Loss Diet" pgs 144-147 of the Doctors Quick Inches-off Diet book. (I've never heard of Kempner. What is that diet about?) It's a 180 turn from the QWL. Each meal is plain rice, fruit and fruit juice (but no juice for me). I can sub some of the rice for a vegetable like broccoli or green beans. It's low protein and low fat. I am looking forward to eating rice (plain, no salt or butter though) but hope I don't get sick of it in one day. I guess if I can't handle it I will go back on QWL. Or look into Kempner.... I'll keep you posted!

Good luck!!

I'm already rethinking the Rice Diet. It may be because I've started my TOM.... or that I didn't eat until 2:30pm. The first meal was great. 5 oz rice, 1c green beans, 3 oz fruit (leftovers from the bbq). I felt satisfied and enjoyed the plain rice. I worked out (Callanetics and walk on treadmill), then had dinner, which was identical to lunch except only 4 oz rice. Now I have a slight headache and don't feel full at all.

I already prepared my food for bfast and lunch tomorrow, but if I still am not into it, I'm going to have lean protein ready for dinner.

Good morning! Yes, Al - I've got coffee! I'm going to be very focused these next two weeks - I leave for Italy on July 3rd!

I'm a volume eater too, Al.

Salamander - I tried the Rice Diet many years ago. I couldn't stick it. Come to think about it - there probably isn't a diet I haven't tried!

The rice diet is kaput! One day and I was salivating at the thought of a burger patty, so.....

I was down .2lb, with TOM starting so that was nice.

Today I've had: AM: 2 cups coffee w/cream, Lunch:1 burger patty, 1 hb egg.

I have been doing atkins the past week or so. It's good for maintenance but I just can't lose on it. Mostly because it's easy for me to slip up.

I will start stills next week and wean down the veggies this week, not that I need weaning I just don't want to waste the veggies I have lol and they at all low carb anyways. I guess I could do dukan until the veggies are gone by alternating days.

Still gaining and losing the same 7 lbs I get down to 179 then back up to 186. Right now I am at 184 so Atkins has let me lose a little. I need to just stick with it. I come here and say this is the last time I am losing this 7 lbs and then I just bounce back anyways. Summers are hard for dieting for me. It's cold here for so long that when we do have nice weather everyone gets together all the time! But I can always go out and just have a drink or something stills friendly.

Hey Mar922,

I feel the same about Atkins. First week on Induction, I lost 1.8, 2nd week 1 lb. Switched to Stillman and lost 3 lbs in 6 days! I think while including fat with protein is satiating and healthy, it's too many calories if you want to lose weight fast. At least for someone like us who only have a few to lose.

It can be hard in the summer with all the get togethers. Most BBQs include burgers, ribs or chicken so sticking to those alone would help. I am using the Premier Protein and Pure Protein drinks. You could have one of those on hand. Poured over ice and drink thru straw, it's thick and delicious. In my opinion, at least, and I'm pretty picky about protein drinks. 160 calories, 1-2 g fat, about 4 total carbs.

Mim, the menu sounds good!! Pretty easy!

Amélie, the Rice Diet is up to 1/3 lb rice, 8 oz fruit juice and 3 oz fruit for three meals. Or you could sub some rice for vegetables. That's what I did, and skipped the juice. It probably would have worked if it allowed for some butter/olive oil.

I made a tasty dish. Browned a lb. of ground chicken, scrambled an egg with egg whites, combined and topped with a little pico de gallo. Yummy.

Good morning all! I used to grill out a lot - I would batch grill! But I live in an apartment on the second floor and can't grill on my balcony. I haven't gotten it together to grill outside my garage. But it is so worth it!

Mar - I'm gaining and losing the same 10 pounds! Geesh!

Mmm grilled meat. That is when it is the easiest to stay on plan. A little too easy to eat too much also.

Low carb- 1200 calorie is going well so far. The bloat was horrible the first couple of days but seems to have leveled off yesterday and today I am only 3 pounds above my stillman low.

I am looking forward to getting back on plan and working at getting rid of my fat!

Good morning! Hope everyone had a good week. I stayed on plan and lost 4 lbs for week #2. Still eating slow cooker shredded chicken. Today I will be adding carribbean jerk seasoning to the mix. Its another McCormick Perfect Pinch seasoning. I have found that 8 chk breasts for 8 hours works well. I did only 5 the other day, but 8 hrs was way too long. It broke apart too much and then was like mush..yuck

Ive been using hot sauce or mustard occasionally, and drinking Crystal Light to my hearts content. Ive also been making my own iced tea and iced coffee which has been a nice treat for the hot weather were having. I use artificial sweetener.

The pico de gallo sounds yummy salamader! If I wasn't so hardcore, I would definitely do something like that at every meal to stay on plan. It has to have less calories than the allowed "kethchup". I will need you on board with me down the road to revisit the rice diet when I give up meat again. It is way more fun to have buddies! Way too hard doing it on our own.

For the BBQs.. Its the easiest way to stay on Stills!! No other time of year presents the perfect scenario. There is always meat around! Add a slice of tomato to your plate so you don't look like a weirdo, Mar. Again, less calories than the allowed ketchup!! I am rooting for you!! We need to get rid of those 7 pounds for good!! You got this.

MIM- Soooo exciting that you will be travelling again! You are one lucky gal!!

Bratty- Great job keep it under control on vacation. Get ready for QWL bootcamp when you get back from the beach!! Lets do this!!

Amelie - Hope the exams went well! We're looking forward to you jumping right in!

I need new bathing suits..ugh.. I like the 2 piece tankini type, but I need longer legs. I ordered some online that looked long enough on the models skinny legs, but they turned into a thong on me! lolololol I dont want them long like bikers shorts, just like 4-5 inches to not ride up. Just bearing my soul today... dont mind me.

BTW.... I did have one dinner out this week. I ordered grilled chicken breasts and french fries. (I was lucky, it came with 2 big ones) I did not mention once that I was on a diet, and no one noticed I didnt eat any fries. I had 2 iced teas. QWL can be done. Lets get rid of these extra pounds with the quickness. You guys can do it!!

Good morning! Al - thanks for your encouragement to all of us. I'm off to a good start today but tomorrow evening and Monday morning I will be having meals with folk I will be staying with. Hopefully it won't be high carb!

COUNT ME IN TOO!

Oh my goodness! I've been in Nursing School and let me tell you something, just sitting around hour after hour after hour studying and going to class has really not been kindly to me. I've gained 15 lbs. in 3 months. AND, NOT EVEN EATING THAT POORLY EITHER, I might add.. Oh, well! I'm off for 2 weeks and I have to lose 15 lbs. before I get back to school; my scrubs won't fit me otherwise!

WHO'S WITH ME. AL? I need your positive, loving encouragement. Let's do this thing, yo!

Hugs and love to you all. We can do this.

Hey B!!! OF course Im with ya! Looks like you have had A LOT going on. Two weeks is perfect timing to drop those pounds! Wish you didnt have to spend your first few days off grumpy and miserable on QWL. DOnt worry though. We are here to cheer you on and cheer you up if needed. Is QWL your plan? Those first days are THE WORST. But we've been there and done that and you will make it through!!!!!

Al - I do feel lucky - my parishioners enjoy feeding me and my brief study leave this weekend involves food! Of course, the down side is my parishioners enjoy feeding me and almost all meetings involve food!
