Hi, everyone – is there room here for one more noob? Just started using an exercise bike I'd badly wanted for years. Due to a neurological condition, I haven't been able to walk more than 100 feet or so without crippling up in severe pain, for about five years.

Needless to say, my body has deteriorated a lot, and my endurance was heading down to where the pain limits my mobility. But so far I can do the bike! :^D Yesterday was day 6 and I'm so far managing to wrestle out 5 miles in the morning, and another 5 to 6.1 late at night the past two days, after piffing out at one mile the first day.

As to those of you not having time or not setting time aside for regular exercise, would it be helpful (AND safe!!) for you to wear ankle weights around as you do you regular job and your non-work activities? Maybe even wrist weights if you don't work directly with the public?

I can't get them 'til I get paid again, but it looks like they have adjustable ones you could keep adding more weight as you progress?

Marge and to everyone! I was at Boy Scout camp for Spring Break and am now recovering! My one disappointment there (other in myself for going off plan a bit on the eating! And I was a cook! ) was that I could not climb the 30 ft-pole to zipline. It wasn't fear that held me back - I made it up the first 12 feet with a ladder, but when I had to switch to climbing the pole itself, the staples driven into the pole for steps were too far apart for my short legs. I was so disappointed!

But my weight is down today and it rained about 3 inches last night! Woo-hoo! Wildflowers are blooming and Texas is green again! It's beautiful here! Have a great day, everyone!

Super busy yesterday caused me not to post.

everyone! I got busy, too, with work and then travel on weekends, but I'm still trying to get exercise of some sort when I can. Today I weeded and planted in flower beds and veggie beds for about an hour. Lots more work like that to do, though!

At least I managed to keep my gloves on today! Saturday I was gardening without them and got into some stinging nettle that made my hands hurt for about 8 hours!

Just waiting for the rain to start now!

Remember, it doesn't matter what kind of exercise you do; it's all good as long as you DO it!

I got up and "just did something" today for the first time in a long time and it reminded me of this challenge. I used to do something so I would have something to post here! I think I also remember just being the cheerleader sometimes too but anyway....... I walked about a half a mile and rode my bicycle about a tenth of a mile ..... I got a cramp in my thigh riding the bike!

It's a small start so I wanted to come here again!

GS slept here last night, and didn't wake up til 9. So I vacuumed and started moving furniture while he slept......moved his crib and diapers into DD19 room now that she went back to college....... I will take that as my excercise today!!

Good for you iakaren! I rode my bicycle around that same loop again only this time I didn't have cramps or didn't have to stop and I walked a little farther down the dirt road today too! I like the thought of just doing something until I get back into the swing of it!

Good for you Magie!!! I need to go walking but my husband was just telling me about the two 4ft rattle snakes he saw in the dirt road.

Makes me think I might get out my walking away the pounds cd and just stay in here in the air conditioning!!!

Rough week, and I know better. Kids and GS kept me from "my" time.

Had class in Des Moines last thursday, and always eating what provided does me in. And only 1/2 hr allowed, so have to eat what is there. Panera bread 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad, but then Fri Sat out of control......

Not sure if due to carbs, or just tired of going nowhere on the scale.......don't give a #*#! attitude has been plaguing me, and not sure where it is coming from, or how to get it back under control. But admitting it is the problem is probably a start......

Just walked a mile while picking up trash on our dirt road. We've had two weeks of logging crews and telephone crews working and they left a huge mess! Anyway, I finally just did something to report for a change. I really don't mind exercise with an end result. I just hate walking to be walking, etc.

I need to find me another project! I did pick up around 100 pounds of pecans yesterday and that was quiet the workout too!

Oh, I love pecans!! Good for you. Sounds like good projects!
Last 2 mornings I have gotten up and done stretches. Nothing major, but better than nothing........and nice enough I have walked around town doing errands instead of driving.

It has been quiet awhile! I'm going to TRY so hard to post something here every day! The other "exercise threads" are way too serious for me! I loved this one when she started it so I keep bringing it back up when I finally do just do something!

Good for you walking instead of driving! It's these little things that will add up for us!!

Stretches while I watched news this morning and 6 pushups.

It is a start. When I woke up this morning, I had some stiff muscles. Couldn't even think what I had done, until I remembered I did stretches on our excercise ball and 5 pushups yesterday morning

I also see that you mentioned tax season in your avitar....I do taxes for a big company all year....everything except for the corporate income tax returns. I do sales, use, property, and tobacco taxes. I personally do our farm return on April 14th every year! We must have a lot in common!

We are lots alike. I have my own accounting firm. We do it all..income, sales, payroll.......but only a few bigger business. Million or 2 in sales is as big as I allow.

I used to be extremely fit............could throw bales with the guys all day long, and whoop all of them except DH...... Now I sit behind a desk all day, and not in good shape. But with you keeping me honest, I will get back at it, and it will do me good!!!

(And I figure I might as well laugh at myself, because it might be the only chuckle for the day)

I'm so glad you've mentioned stretching! It was dark before 5:00 pm today and very cool and raining (thank God!) so I decided to stretch. I will probably be sore tomorrow from it. I can't believe how stiff I am now! I guess I could do that Walking Away the Pounds cd but I don't really feel like jumping in that deep tonight! Maybe tomorrow!

Cold, gray days are harder for me to get motivated. But good for you for stretching.

TV was so lousy last night, went to bed early, so up early this morning.,
10 pushups this morning. Afraid if I do more than that, elbow will start complaining. So planning on staying at 10 for a week or so, and then see.
Some stretches/excercise ball this morning also.
