Kelly, I am in Ohio so we are getting a snow storm too. I went to the store and got chicken, salmon and good food choices. I just have to stay on track to get through induction. then, I will add in some foods. I also gave up Diet Coke and I have to say it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. THankfully I still have my coffee. I sure love coffee.

Question for group. Does anyone do the protein drink meal replacements? My friend gave me some powder and its low in carbs but high in protein. I thought it would be helpful on days I just don't have time to make breakfast or lunch. I tried it today and I wasn't hungry all day but I do have a bad headache (not sure it's related).

Stay strong...the weekend is here (which is where I usually fall apart).

Well, it looks like DD has the flu. The pediatrician's office was out of flu tests (they are on back order!!), but they did a strep test and that came back negative so it is most likely flu. Colds don't normally run fevers as high as hers. The good news is that she is handling the fever very well (typical kid!) and so we are treating with rest and fluids. The big question is how many of the rest of the family will get it.

kt_mom: I can't imagine how stressful it must be when your daughter gets sick. My grandmother was Type 1 and even as an adult she had a difficult time managing when she got sick. I hope that y'all avoid the flu entirely!!

Kelibean: I have to commend you for stopping after a few chips. It has been awhile since I was in a Mexican restaurant, but those chips are totally irresistible to me. Especially if I taste one! I have to bow down at your self control!!!

Cynthia: What all is in a Poke Bowl???

Hockeymom: I tend to use coffee with cream as a meal replacement. But I also get too much protein anyway, so I never have tried a protein shake. I have heard that some of them are tasty though.

I am happy with the week so far (it is my FIRST week AGAIN after many years). I can't believe I let all that weight come back when I swore I would never would. UGH. I also know not to be fooled by a bigger lose the first week (it will slow done). But, it's ok - I know what I need to do and will make it happen (I sound so positive - check in with me at the end of the month). This is the way we were meant to eat - it's not a diet. New mindset this year. I do believe I have the induction-flu/yucks. The headache is horrible and no energy. I know it will pass. I remember this from years ago. Also, it could be the diet-coke withdraws (even though I had been done to 1 a day before Feb).
Or, maybe it was the veggie/meal replacement shake (I need to experiment with that - I think I got a migraine last time I tried one). But... it's Saturday....everyone had a great day. I need to keep up with the water (which is hard for me). And, I think I need to increase my protein/fats today.

Good morning ladies! I was really happy to see the scale down. I was a little worried because even though I stayed on plan last night it felt like I ate a lot and definitely ate later then I do at home. But it was so yummy. I had a filet with green beans and zucchini with a tomato type sauce on it. I also had a salad before dinner but I didn't finish all of it. I had intended to only have two glasses of wine but I had one and half before we left the house and two at dinner. Its so funny because the place is like a diner, not at all fancy or anything but their food is the best. I could eat my weight in their green beans I think, they were so good.

kmb425 - try not to get discouraged, you may just need to do some tweaking in your food to get things going good. It could be that you are not eating enough too. I have found eating very basic, especially at first was the easiest for me. I eat a lot of eggs and salads/veggies and meat and cheese. I try to make as much as I can myself so I know what's in it. I try to get enough fat too by using heavy cream in my coffee and lots of butter on my veggies. When I make chili I put a large spoonful of sour cream in my bowl too. And I cook my scrambled eggs in coconut oil.

Also, if you haven't gotten some keto sticks yet I would get some so you can see when you get into ketosis and also if something you eat knocks you out. You can get them at any drugstore with the diabetic supplies.

hockeymom - you're off to a great start! I haven't done any protein shakes or anything. I do skip breakfast and just have my coffee with HWC, and I agree thank goodness for coffee!

NClady - sorry to hear she has the flu! Hope she gets better quickly and it doesn't spread through the house!

Cynthia - great month so far!

Keli - I don't know how you stuck to one chip, once I start its hard to stop! I had when we go to Mexican because its so hard to watch the family enjoy the chips. Or other places when they are all munching on warm yummy looking bread. I wish they would eat like me and then we could just ask them not to bring that stuff to the table at all. But I'm all alone, lol

Haha I hear you guys about having the self control. It’s definitely easier to not even allow yourself a “taste” because that’s what triggers the point of no return! So far so good for me despite my Mexican food mishap! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

hockeymom: It is difficult to push through when you don't see the scale change. The scale is changing for me, but I am still just up and down around the same weight. You have lost nearly 7 pounds this month! That is amazing! Hope the induction symptoms subside quickly and you get that wonderful energy burst that comes later.

kmb425: I echo kt_mom. If you are not eating enough or eating too much protein that can cause a stall. I think that is part of my problem. I am not making any real progree either. Of course, I am still dealing with my major cheat last weekend. I totally shot myself in the foot there!

kt_mom: That sounds like such a good dinner! Next time take me, OK?

Kelibean: I could almost taste those wonderful chips when you mentioned them... Must....regain....control!

Nothing new here. I am still hanging out at the same weight. I know if I stick with it, I will see a change, but I am getting tired of bouncing between 144 and 146!
The good news is DD is doing much better today. She is finally not running a fever this morning. I expect her to have one this afternoon, but we will see. She is definitely more chipper this morning.

Well it was a successful night yesterday! Went to Cheesecake Factory and I didn’t have any dessert! Got the Salmon off the skinny menu and I did have some champagne and also some miller lite later in the evening but the scale was way down today. Fingers crossed I won’t see a bump up tomorrow, but I’m liking what I see so far!

NCLady - I know exactly how you feel. 144-146 was my exact stalling point last month so I am really hoping to surpass that this time!!

Good morning ladies! Just a quick check in before I run DD to the dentist. But I was super bummed to see the scale up yesterday and today. I've been totally on plan. My fingers are kind of swollen to day though so I'm hoping that I'm must retaining water for some reason and that it will go down quickly. I increased my water and have been trying to get more in but that was before this gain so I'm not sure its related to that. I'll just keep on plan today and hope maybe it will go away tomorrow.

I knew that bump up was coming. We opened a bottle of my favorite merlot last night and I had too much. It shouldn't stick around too long though, lots of water today!

Kelibean: Yes, let's smash the mid-140s, ha! Getting under 140 is a stretch goal for me, for sure. We will see what I get.

Finadel: Welcome! It is never to late to join!

kt_mom: I bet you will slide right back down again tomorrow. If you look at your numbers from the start of the month, you are on a definite downward trend.

NCLady - too funny! I'm in the same boat! Those drinks from Saturday night have caught up with me today too. I must have been really dehydrated that night, hence the loss yesterday. Oh well, it was absolutely worth it! However, I'm tired of seeing 147 on the scale so it's definitely time to get serious now!

Good evening everyone

You guys are not going to believe me but guess who ended up with the stomach virus this weekend. It was awful having to clean up my own vomit. The scale was down Sunday but I started eating crackers, soup and ginger ale and today the scale was up.

I was discouraged but I know that this was totally out of my control. Hoping and praying that the virus is done with us. Unfortunately, for those who remember my daughter, she is in the hospital today and may need surgery to drain some fluid from her incision. It became infected out of nowhere and because of her previous history they sent her home with antibiotics but she hass not improved over the weekend and had a high fever this morning. Waiting for a phone call from the hospital now and just praying for the best news possible. Honestly, there is always something going on.

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone that is sick stats to feel better soon. I wish the cold/flu season would end.
Ameenah- I hope you get better soon. Nothing puts fear in my heart like the stomach flu because we all know who ends up cleaning it up. I feel for you!

We have had a terrible February so far. This past week our German sheperd was limping she is 9 months old so I took her in to the vet after x-rays and all that they said it looks like a possible break. So I am freaking out they tell me to take her to an orthopedic specialist to have him evaluate x-rays and examine her. After $700 later we find out she has growing pains. I thought my husband was going to lose it.

On our way to the vet I told my husband to meet me so he can grab our oldest to take her to her basketball game on his way to meet me his engine seized. So in my mini van I have 4 kids and a 75lb dog and we have to go get him. This was the reason we had to go to the dealership with everyone last week.

So after all that I haven't been on plan I think one of those nights for dinner I had a bag of valentine conversation hearts.

So starting over again!

Hi Everyone,

Holding steady today. I still need to avoid the SF treats (good for maintenance, but not good for losses!!!) Attempting to make it through the day today with NO SNACKS! I also need to increase fat, as I noticed I'm still getting too much protein and not enough fat, which probably explains why I'm craving the SF treats in the first place!

Ameenah - that sounds miserable! Hope you continue to feel better!

I haven't changed anything, still eating 75:20:5 but my calories are pretty low (less than 700) per day because I'm not hungry. Not sure if this is causing a problem.
I did 90 minutes of WTRx on Saturday and 90 mins of PWR spin class, my readout said I burned over 1000 calories, so not sure why the stall. But i'm not interesting in making any changes just yet.

I just realized I haven't posted in a few days. My work life is crazy busy lately. I had a small slice of pizza yesterday (ugh) - and it didn't taste good (of course, I ate it anyways). I also washed it down with a margarita (seriously - what was I thinking). I felt bad afterwards - I need to start feeling bad before I do it. Oh well...today is another day. Going to a cooking class with family/friends tonight (it's BYOB - oh no!). And, the food is all things phyllo dough! Yum - not low carb. Signed up before I committed to LC again - sure wish I didn't do that. Not looking forward to the scale.

Cynthia, are you doing Keto based LC diet? I have been doing research on that.

Ameenah, you poor thing. Nothing worse that being a sick mom.

HockeyMom - yes I am doing Keto (which is VLC\HighFat\ModerateProtein). The fat was an adjustment but it definitely helps to keep you full for long periods of time which allows me to also IF. I try to do 16:8, sometimes it's longer, sometimes shorter. The weekends are usually 18:6 while work days are usually 12:12.

Knew that wine weight wouldn't stick around too long. Of course, I still haven't made any real progress from the beginning of the month. Oh well. Onward!

Ameenah: Oh, that is so awful! My heart just hurts for you. Prayers for quick recovery for you and healing for your daughter. Infections are nothing to mess with. I hope you got a phone call with good news.

kt_mom: I know you are not down as much as you would like, but seriously, you are killing this month!!

Casey: I hope that your day was awesome!

nihold: my husband always says you may as well hand over your life savings when you go to the vet. Bye bye money!! But I hope your shepherd is doing better.

Alene: slow and steady wins the race!

Kelibean: I don't think I have ever been able to really get my fat levels where they need to be. I just really love meat so I over-eat it!

Bellalinda: I also like to shake things up with a fast, although I haven't yet done a water fast. I can't give up my coffee!

Cynthia: Ooo, I love seafood! That poke bowl sounds great!

hockeymom: I am impressed that you only had a half pound bump up after a slice of pizza. And enjoy your class tonight. Maybe you can modify the recipes after the class for low carb? I bet some of the fillings are totally on plan even if the shells are not.

hi, Pam! I've missed you!

Cynthia - keep in mind that strenuous exercise will cause muscle tears, which is how muscles grow, but they retain water in order to regenerate and heal. I always notice a slight up-tick on the scale after a heavy workout. You also might not be eating enough.

Wow, NCLady - nice drop!

Hi, everybody else!

So I’ve identified an issue with how I’m doing this WOE this time around. I’ve broken free of having complete free for all meals like I was over the holidays. I’ve generally been on plan with my foods, the problem is I’m eating way too many calories which is probably because I’m not eating enough fat to keep me full enough and satisfied. I also know that all these wonderful sugar free chocolate I’ve discovered are something I really need to quit for now if I want to see losses again. I’m maintaining in the upper 140s which is better than being in the 150s which is where I was at for most of December. But I know that in order to see any more movement on the scale I really have to fix these things. I’m struggling!

Kmb425 - were you asking about the SF energy drinks? I drink Bang Energy, which is one of the only zero carb energy drinks I have found that taste good. I love the Sourheads flavor (tastes like a sweet tart) and the Pina Colada flavor (its non alcoholic) the best. These also have about 300mg of caffeine in a can which is double the caffeine of most other energy drinks like Monster or Rockstar. I know, most people tell me energy drinks are bad for me and I should not drink them. But I like having one a day, it’s just my thing. If you instead meant those drinks I mentioned having over the weekend, it was champagne and Miller Lite!

Good morning ladies! No movement on the scale today but I had some pepperoni and cheese for dinner and sometimes I stall a little after the sodium from meats like that. I was tired and it was ready. I also had two glasses of red wine last night. Its been a stressful couple of weeks and I'm rushing trying to get homework done before we go to my sister in law's this weekend and today I have a job interview. Haven't been on one of those in a long time. But its time, I need to go back to work. At least keeping busy keeps me from eating crap so that's a plus. I didn't drink as much water yesterday either so I need to make an effort on that today.
