Morning Leisha ~ how are you doing?

Glad your fat bombs turned out! gonna try them. My LC icecream turned out until I made the mistake of stIring it when it was half done. Need to keep it in the freezer a bit longer. Then it will be perfect!

Have a great Sunday all!

I'm discouraged too Tammy. I have been stricter and more on plan than ever this past two weeks and I was up a pound. The strangest thing is that I weigh the same thing at night as I do in the morning. I used to always drop a pound and sometimes 2 over night.

I am probably eating too much dairy, or too many nuts or some little thing that's not letting this "work" for me. I'm on the verge of just going back to regular low carb. If I'm not going to lose weight I don't feel like all of this salt and fat could be a good thing. And I've been feeling terrible lately. I tried to pretend that it was the keto flu since I was really doing it right but I just don't know.

Yes, I'm very discouraged. Can you tell??

Hi Leisha ~ thanks. I wouldn't throw-in-the-towel yet! I'm cutting out the nuts for now and measuring my carbs. Allowing only a 1/4 cup of berries, nuts etc. I will definately let you know how it goes!

I bought the book called, " The Complete Ketogenic Diet for Beginners." Should shed some light into what is causing our difficulties!

If any of the group has any suggestions... please share your thoughts. Would be much appreciated!

Have a good night!

4 keto diet types

FYI... many of you may know this... but there are 4 different types of keto diets.

It’s important to choose the ketogenic diet that best fits your individual needs and health goals. Each type of diet is good for a certain lifestyle.

There are four different keto diets you can follow depending on your goals.

For example, if you’re an individual who leads a very active lifestyle or if you’re an athlete that performs high intensity training, there’s a keto diet for you. If your goal is to simply lose fat and reach your optimal health, there’s a diet for you as well.

The Four Keto Types:
Fat Loss and Therapeutic Purposes: The Standard Ketogenic Diet (SKD)
Workout Performance: Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD)
Bodybuilders or Athletes: Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD)
High Protein Needs: High-Protein Ketogenic Diet (HPKD)

Nighty... night!

Thanks for letting my whine, Tammy. I'm still here and still on program and still stuck at the same weight. Sigh.

Hi Leisha ~ You're welcome dear!! Like you I too was stuck at 188lbs for several months... then I cut back on the sugar and carbs big time. This was before I started keto. This morning when I wi my scale battery showed a "Lo" reading, so I went out and bought the wrong battery. Ugh!! Thankfully had a spare one at home. I'm the kind of person who likes to weight myself daily until I see results. Should make a chart! Will see how I did tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

This is no joke. I'm changing my battery in my scale tonight when I get home to see if that's why I've been 188.4 for months!

I would be so happy if that were the problem but I'm not holding my breath!

Oh... maybe that's the problem. It has been at least 8 months since I changed the battery. Try it and see!

Take care

Leisha ~ I wi this morning and I am back down 2 lbs that I had gained! plus, I am back in ketosis! Tried roasted zucchini, butter squash, and cauliflower as a substitute for rice this past week for dinner. Very different dishes instead of potatoes and rice carbs which are not allowed in the keto diet. Hoping you have success this time round!

Have a good friday and weekend everyone!

Well, I didn't change the battery and I was down 1.8 pounds! That is the first time I've dipped below where I've been hung in 5 months! I left off my beloved pecans all day but I know that couldn't have made a difference that quickly!

Congrats on getting that 2 pounds gone again, Tammy!

A huge hello to everyone

I am in my 6th month of doing Keto. Down 45 lbs ...still have quite aways to go. However, even if I was not able to lose anymore weight I would still love this WOE due to wonderful changes in my health.
My sister's son listened to a podcast about health and Keto and told his mom he thought she would enjoy it. She does not need to lose weight but started doing Keto for health and energy. She started Aug 16, 17, called me and I started Aug 21st.
I honestly think I might be dead if I had not been lucky enough to learn about this at the right time.
I was hit by a bus in my car over 20 years ago and ended up with mucho back pain, among other things. I was always super active but could no longer do much. Through the years I kept putting on weight..5-10 lbs a year. I kept having more medical problems and I kept dieting with various programs..without exercise nothing seemed to take. My daughter convinced my late husband and myself to try the Dr Furhman diet. That one did work for both of us but was so strict we could not stick with it. I lost my husband 3 years ago and honestly was in a sorry mess. SO sad and lonely. everything hurt.. physically and mentally.
On my birthday last year I was sitting in my living room surrounded by people who I love and who love me. I could barely get up to energy to smile. One of my sisters had flown in to spend a couple of weeks with me as my birthday present. She has her Master's in Oriental medicine and is a certified acupuncturist. She plied me with needles and I started to feel small sparks of life. Gradually in the upcoming months I started to be able to get around a little bit more. A few months later is when she told me about this Keto way of life. We are both nerdy, curious people and have listened to and read all the experts. I know nothing works for everybody but WOW..I am a total convert to Keto. Yes, there are many things I wish I could have but more than wanting those, I want to be able to have a life. I do net carbs and come in between 15-30 a day. What seems to work well for me is to have my MCT oil (I put it in 2 oz of fake choc milk) in the morning and usually eat a meal after 3.
Later eating on the light side.

Leisha ~ Thanks. Congrats on your loss! That was the breakthrough that you were waiting for.. I ordered a half portion of wendy's apple pecan salad for lunch today, The pecans are very sweet! Sugar coated. I noticed that I now have a sensitivity to sugar! Have to watch that.

Take care

RVlady ~ Thanks for sharing! So sorry for the loss of your husband. Must have been difficult for you. Congrats on losing 45lbs! Glad the keto diet is working for you and your sister. This diet (don't like saying the word diet) really has been the only woe that has worked for me. I rarely get hungry now, but when I do I eat fat. I am slowly getting away from being afraid of eating fat! We have been so brainwashed into thinking that fat is bad for us. There is good fats and bad fats. I like having heavy cream in my coffee in the mornings, sour cream and olive oil on my salads, butter fried eggs, and whipping cream with my berries. Yummy!!

Have a great night everyone!

KETOSIS

I had tried lo carb a few years ago and felt much better!! Later I counted calories and lost once again but didn't feel as good!!
I am retired and found myself not having energy so a few weeks ago I once again gave up all soda, alcohol, and cut back on carbs!l
I have had a horrible headache and my gums hurt and had a conversation with my daughter who thought maybe I needed more water!!
I started drinking more and it has helped!!
Then she explained keto flu!! I have read more about that and it is helping me understand!!
Yesterday I decided to try fasting 18 hours and eating within a 4 hour time!!
my body seems to like it today and I am not starving as the fat I am consuming must keep me sustained !!
I am so looking forward to sharing and learning more!!
I lost 2 lbs this week and feel better!!

Wendy ~ Glad the keto diet and intermittent fasting is working for you. Congrays on losing 2 lbs!! Some of us here are fasting too, as their bodes adapt to feeling full from eating fat, which does curve our appetites and keeps the cravings away. This diet affects us all in different ways, but it is a healthy one and produces results! Before I started doing the ketogenic diet 3-1/2 weeks ago, I was a yo-young dieter. I would lose and gain, lose and gain for many years. When I got older, it was very difficult to lose any weight at all. My metabolism had become broken, I became insulin resistant, and developed health issues. I was an emotional eater, and my overeating got worse and worse. Then I decided to detox from sugar all together. It took a good 4-5 months. Although there were some hidden sugars in most foods I consumed, I did lose some weight. But then I hit a major stall, or plateau as they call it! It lasted 8 long months, and I became very discouraged. Then I heard an acquaintance from my church group talking about this diet. He had successfully lost 60 lbs and was still losing. Heard my nephew was doing keto and had lost 30 lbs. This intrigued me to try it. His mother, my sister, just started Keto and has lost 4 lbs already! She is working on losing her last 10 lbs to her goal weight. She's ecstatic! This is the kind of stuff that keeps us going!

Have a great night everyone!

Everyone ~ It's monday again... beginning of a new week, and we are almost through January! Where has the time gone? Hope you're having a good day. It's raining non-stop here on the BC Coast. I wi this morning and my weight is stable. I'll take it! 208 -180= 28 lb total that I have lost on my weightloss journey. So it can happen, if we stuck to our woes!! Is anyone here's having any success with weightloss, losing inches, or a non-weight victory today? or just want to chat.

You'll take care and have a great week!

Monday

I fasted 19 hours and then had eggs and cauliflower!
my daughter made a keto friendly cheesecake that I had for dessert and a cold cup of coffee with heavy whipping cream and Stevia!!
I am feeling tired so am drinking a cup of chicken broth!! I read somewhere that it would help or some sea salt!!
I have many reasons I am trying this WOE!!! Fatigue being a big one!! also losing weight!!
I suppose they go hand in hand!!
Depression also!!
I have lost 3 lbs so that is a plus!!

Hi Wendy ~ Congrats on losing 3 lbs! That is a huge! I have a question. Do you use the pink Himalayan sea salt or another kind for soups? I heard the pink is okay to use. 😊

had an interesting two weeks, at the end of the previous week I had only lost one lb for the week but noticed I was holding a lot of water. made a couple adjustments to the diet that were kind of small but evidently it worked. the week before I had almost doubled the amount of walking for the week, feel like I over ate some Keto pepper soup, and probably was eating too much dairy. So I cut the dairy, walking, in half and watched the amount of liquids and reduced them slightly. at the end of the week I had dropped 10 lbs, which is crazy I know! didn't drastically change anything really but glad to be back in the saddle down to 370lbs down 80 lbs now

again. It's been raining all day. I wanted to go for my regular walk... 2x per week. Then I decided to try the gym. Haven't gone in years! when I inquired... I found out they have a drop-in program at the rec centre. So, I got a year membership and pay a fee by month, and can use all the facilities! So, I went on the treadmill for 1/2 an hour. I did okay for a beginner. Burned 135 calories!! I will try to commit to 2-3x a week. Oh... time to have dinner.

Take care

jshaf ~ Congrats on losing 10lbs! Fantastic!! That is what I had to do. I had gained 2 lbs and found I was overeating on the nuts and dairy as well. Once I cut back, the weight just fell off. So, sometimes we have to adjust this diet to make it work!

Hi All,
I'd like to join this thread. I've decided to get more serious about Keto and throw in some fasting for 2018. I'd like to reach my goal this year of 140 pounds. I'm hoping to start off right with a short fast and slide into Ketosis and stay there.

My exception will be when I go out to eat, but I will stay Low Carb as possible so I don't thow myself off.

I do feel this is the year!
