Thanks . Really should do new pics as my arms look much better than that how (weight training) and I think that dress is even a little big on me. Which actually is great motivation for me as the scale is about the same (and up from my lowest ).

I'll get on that when I can find a spare 5 minutes - my schedule is manic atm. I work full-time, workout ~1hr each morning, dance 3 nights a week (including teaching one night + teacher training on Sunday afternoons), work a 2nd job Saturday mornings and casually when I can at a couple of local stadiums. I also do all the cooking, have a 6yr old and a house that is mostly a mess !!! Needless to say most of the time I'm just to tired to get all dolled up for a pic!

I bellydance for a hobby and am teaching (including helping out at other classes) Latin dancing. Apparently 2hrs of dance class burns about 500calories, not that I feel like I'm exercising at all. I burned ~520 calories in 40minutes on my elliptical machine yesterday morning (HIIT & steady-state cardio) and I certainly 'felt' that workout .

Bellydance is FANTASTIC you should definitely look for local classes. If you want to start from DVD @ home look for the dance based ones, generally with choreography to learn, rather than the workout based ones (think Nina & Vina, Bellydance for Fitness, etc.).

Absolutely the most fun way to do your pelvic floor exercises too - don't even realise you are doing them !!

A fun way to do kegels! I'm all over it!

I've seen the commercials for different bellydancing dvds too. I love working out without feeling like i'm working out yanno?

I think I'd like to try bellydancing. Could you recommend a DVD for a beginner? IM if you need to. You're amazing BTW.

Pitty you're on the other side of the world JazzleBug. We specialise in abosolute 3 left feet beginners! If you can find a local modern jive class that is the easiest style I've ever tried. Basically you are just walking, so there's no trickly foot work or specific timing.

Thanks DC12 - I'm about 5'6" and I feel about 15yrs younger. There is absolutely no way I'd have had 1/2 the energy or been able to do anywhere near what I do now. I was flat out getting up in the morning for work and spent every spare minute sitting on my arse in front of the TV!

Marcy, I really like the 2 DVDs I have that are dance/choerography based. But I can't think of the name of the lady right now. Will have to remember to have a look at home. There's most likely a much wider range available in the states than here too, probably anything 'beginner' would be good to start with. If you can find something cheap then you haven't wasted much $$ if you don't like it. Otherwise, would you be able to rent/preview one? As long as they break it down a bit so you understand how to do the moves correctly there is less chance of injury and you'll be better placed as you advance to layer moves etc.

Wow Ozdancer!!! We're almost the same height and you described my current lifestyle to a T:blush: I'm single and don't have a lot of friends here so my time is spent going to work and coming home and sitting in front of the TV. You are such an inspiration to me! I am so going to use this as an added wake up call to get off my butt and do this!!!
