it is amazing! Right now TJ's doesn't seem to be carrying the buffalo wing flavoured meatballs, but the same thing can be done by adding wing sauce to the finished product. Lately I have been doing 60 calories (13g protein) of the boca crumbles instead of the meatballs--

Thanks for the update. I may have jury duty this week and if so, I'm going shopping while we're in town!

I've been looking at foods which inhibit thyroid function and saw cabbage on that list. According to the article below, it should be fine as long as it's cooked. There are several really healthy foods in there that they recommend cooking to maintain good thyroid health.

Google: herbcompanion Best Foods for Hypothyroidism

Maybe I missed it? But I did not see cabbage listed. I was glad to see that cooking those listed food items makes it okay. Also (did I miss another page or was it just that small article?), it did not list amounts. Any amount eaten or small amount okay? I don't have this disease but my mother did, so nice to be aware of it. Thank you, KeirasMom!

"Some goitrogenic foods such as mustard greens, soybeans, spinach, and cabbage are also high in tyrosine. Because current conventional wisdom says that cooking may inactivate goitrogenic potential, these foods may still have a place in a varied, balanced diet."

As with everything else, I would imagine it would be fine in moderation, and especially if you're not at risk for thyroid issues.

Yellow Curry Cabbage 143 calories
Adapted from Spinach Yellow Curry Shrimp at Thai Talay in Pismo Beach
Thai Talay is a favorite stop of ours when driving to southern California. Stop there and have some any UD. I omitted the shrimp, spinach and coconut milk and came up with a flavorful version of cabbage. Adding 3 oz of shrimp brings the dish to 227 calories.

1/2 head cabbage, chopped
1 tsp Maesri Karee Curry Paste (Thai masaman Yellow Curry Paste)

Spray pan with Pam-oid.
Add cabbage and wilt.
Add 1 tsp water and Maesri Paste and stir well.
Cover and turn off heat.
Let sit 10 minutes, stir and eat.

A simply amazing group of recipes with this cabbage slaw. I've jotted the combinations down and plan on having some of this stuff my next down day. I've done similar cabbage stir-fries and have always liked them, but adding cheese just wouldn't have occurred to me.
Some of these are amazingly simple recipes and sound DELICIOUS!

Yesterday I tried it with actual chicken because breast was on sale and it was delicious! Instead of cheese I did the soy sauce thing, so good and filling, tasted like chow mein! Previously I would do it with fish or shrimp, tasted good just not as filling. The extra protein cals were worth it, I think I might do it again tomorrow.

Those boca crumbles are good. My SO was a vegetarian for a long time so I've tried all the subs. Tempeh is really good, I need to check the cals on that...

I made a big batch to split up for my next 2 DD's. After digging my father out of it TWICE, I might have enough for one day. LOL. He made me promise to show my mom how I made it.

I made this today for the first time. I used deli ham, coleslaw mix, regular cream cheese, salt, & pepper. And it wasn't very good at all. I ate some, and threw away the rest. What did I do wrong??

Just wondering why you put cream cheese in there? Did you try the Laughing Cow cheese wedges?

Because I don't have LC wedges, and LC is just a light version of flavored processed cheese.

This has been my most favorite thing to eat on DD! Thanks to everyone who has posted about it. I do use hot sauce on it (no calories) to give it a little kick. I also use onion salt and that gives nice flavor too.

It's great for an UD, too! I use ground beef (or turkey), some of that new Philadelphia cream cheese cooking mixes (Santa Fe is good) and cabbage slaw mix. When it's done, I throw in some sour cream, cut up avocado and either eat it outa the bowl or use a lc tortilla (or two!) Yummy!!

Ladies - I need educating. This sounds foul to me. Not a fan of cabbage at the best of times but with cheese? That's not a combination I've ever encountered or felt the urge to encounter.

Is this a cultural divide? Like Peanut butter with jam?

For me, it was a matter of trying something new. I seemed weird until I tasted it. I love it with the Laughing Cow sun-dried tomato version

Maybe. My DH loves a sandwich made with cheese and jelly. Although I like cole slaw, I thought the concoction sounded a bit odd. But, it is delish!! The cheese melts, the cabbage cooks down and it's just yummy!

Whether you use chicken or beef, there's so many ways to vary it up. I made it for my son who came to visit and he thought it sounded odd, too. But he loved it.

I like it, but can't say I love it! I seldom use the laughing cow, preferring other seasonings. What is so great is how filling it is. I do think it is important to slice it very fine, and use hardly any liquid.

Stargazer, I do love peanut butter with jam (jelly), also with Marmite, and I love Marmite with marmalade.

I tried a new variation.

1 lg. can chicken breast (yeah, I'm all for quick and easy )
3 T Philadelphia cooking flavored cream cheese (that new stuff - Santa Fe flavor)
1/2 - 1 bag cole slaw mix
1 can veggie mix (tomatoes, okra, corn)

When it's time to devour, I throw in some sour cream - yummers!!!!
