Wolf brand chili hot dog sauce: 30 cals for 2T.

Would be good on a baked potato for a DD meal

lol inspired by DH's wanting chili dogs this week. I grabbed the can and was surprised it was fairly calorie friendly since the regular Wolf Brand chili is pretty calorie heavy.

I just wanted to add that the Yoplait Greek 100 Apple Pie flavor is really good. It's got a natural apple flavor (not chemically) and a lot of cinnamon flavor.

You know how canned broths have a lot of sodium, but don't taste salty, so you have to add more salt and make it really high sodium?
Swanson has a new line of broths that have high sodium BUT taste salty so you don't have to add more.

I tried the Thai Ginger: 800mg sodium per cup, 30 cals. Really tasty and didn't need any salt at all.
and the Hot and Sour: 800mg sodium and 25cals per cup - same thing, didn't need any salt.

I found them at wal-mart with soups and broths. 32oz carton.

It's still more sodium per cup than I like, but not having to add more makes it a little better.

I noticed on this thread (as well as other threads) in the JUDDD conversations, that people are suggesting a yummy dish that I am DYING to make, but I can't find the one ingredient ANYWHERE?

If anybody out there has made the dish of Angel Hair Cabbage, Chicken, and Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge, sauteed in a pan for your DDs, maybe you can answer my question?

Is the Angel Hair Cabbage really a bag of Cole Slaw Mix? That is the only thing I can find in my grocery stores where I live, but I believe someone mentioned somewhere in the boards that it REALLY IS specifically Angel Hair Cabbage (which I would think would be MUCH BETTER than that thick-cut slaw mix).

If it REALLY IS Angel-Hair Cabbage, would you share with us where you find it? Is it only found in a specialty food store, or are you able to get it in a regular grocery store? I would LOVE to try that on my DDs; I have been searching for it for days!!!!

I find angel hair cabbage in my normal grocery store where the pre-made salad mixes are. If you can't find it, just buy a head of cabbage and finely shred it.

I actually prefer bigger chunks of cabbage to the angel hair if cooking, but that's a texture thing for me. The angel hair stuff wilts down too small. I'm a horrible cook, so I'm probably doing something wrong.

Thanks Dawn! Maybe I'll start calling around to several other grocery stores to see if they have it. Otherwise, I may try your idea of shredding my own.

That just sounds so yummy, and is a great way to get some protein on a DD with veggies. I hope to find it somewhere after work today so I can have THAT for dinner! YUM! Thanks again......

The shredded cabbage at Trader Joe's works well for that dish. It isn't as thin as the other kind, but I like it.

Good morning! I hope I am putting this in the correct thread.

At my local Trader Joe's, I noticed the Trader Joe's brand original coconut creamer. On DDs I have been using So Delicious original flavor coconut creamer.

The TJ's brand has 5 calories per TBSP and 1 carb.
The So Delicious brand has 10 calories per TBSP and 1 carb.

The flavor seems to be the same, nothing different as far as I can tell. I don't normally sweeten my coffee at all, so if you want something sweeter I would suggest splenda, stevia, SF davinci syrups, or nectresse.

OH! and before I forget, it's 1.99 for a pint. The lowest price that I have paid for So Delicious on sale, has been about 2.50.

Yay! I have been wishing TJ would get a coconut creamer.

I have something good I have been eating lately. I take shredded chicken breast (I use the precooked stuff from Costco) and toss it with a SF bbq sauce (I bought here at Netrition- 16 cals per 2 tbls) and heat. When its warm I toss in some shredded cabbage for some crunch.

I had something very similar at the county fair. It was good and as soon as I saw it I thought- DD food!

This sounds really, really good and simple. I should be receiving my Guy barbecue sauce from Netrition any day now. If if comes today, I will have this tomorrow for dd.

Thanks!

Many interesting posts on this thread and I got a lot of ideas.

You know those little squirt bottles of concentrated drink flavors, like Mio?
You knew someone would be smart enough to come up with coffee flavors like that:
Enfuse My Flavor Creation Coffee Flavoring
I tried the hazelnut and caramel and they're both really good!

Nope, just super concentrated sweetener and flavor
Like the s/f syrups, only much more concentrated.

Thanks for the review! I'm placing a Netrition order soon and wondered if these were any good. Would be so much easier to deal with than the big bottles of flavored syrup.

96% lean ground beef is 35 calories per ounce.
If you're a protein eater, you could have
2 burgers: patties (5oz each) + lettuce as wrap + tomato, onion, mustard, etc.
or
2x Taco salad: 5oz ground beef(175 cals), cooked then over 2 cups lettuce(16 cals) + 2T salasa (10 cals)
or
5oz ground beef(175 cals) + 2 cups beef broth (10-30 cals depending on brand) + 1 cup chopped cabbage (22 cals) + 2T salsa (10 cals) : simmer to make a hearty soup

Lots of possibilities and you're getting your protein in at 6g protein per ounce.

Perky Jerky All-Natural Ultra Premium Tender Turkey Jerky
2 servings per bag, 60 cals and 11g protein per serving.
Not bad, a little sweet.
For a quick burst of protein on a DD, 22g protein and 120 cals per bag, not a bad option
I got it on amazon, but you may be able to find it locally.

I tried Silk Cashew Milk and I have to say it is a lot creamier than almond milk.
I couldn't find unsweetened, and this definitely has a "sweet" taste to it.
Per cup:
60 cals; 2.5g fat; 9g carbs
Per tablespoon: 4 cals; less than 1g fat; less than 1g carbs

The unsweetened is:
Per cup: 25 cals; 2g fat; 1g carbs
Per tablespoon: 1.6 cals

I use the unsweetened for almost anything I would usually use milk for. I love it. (ETA: I'm eating more cereal now because I wouldn't waste the calories on milk before.)

I have found it at Target, Whole Foods, and Save-Mart (which is my local grocery store chain). I also saw it a Fresh & Easy, but they're closing a bunch of those.
