I just used 2 of my DD staples, and wanted to add them to the list:

1) bag of steam-able veggies (I've seen broccoli, cauli, a mix of the 2, as well as 'stir fry vegetables' that are actually steam in the bag (mostly broccoli, broccoli slaw, and some snow peas). About 25cal per cup or so, so usually about 100cal or so per bag!

2) I found a relatively low carb and low cal jarred tomato sauce. Mine is 50cal per 1/2c, and is just tomato basil flavor. I think it's "classico" brand, but I just read all the labels of the ones in the supermarket aisle and compare serving size and calories and carbs.

I just replaced doing a stir fry with oil (1tsp is 40cal) with steaming the veggies and adding the 1/2c of sauce on top afterward. More bulk and nutrition for just about the same calories!

Soren, I am all about the bulk on DD. Mentally more satisfying to me, as well as filling. Did I mention that I am very "mental"??

I like your steamable veggies idea. I use broccoli "slaw" and add 3 Trader Joe's turkey meatballs and some Laughing Cow light cheese (35 cals per wedge) and after it is "bulked up" a bit more with the protein, I split into two servings, for DDs at work for the week.

I was reading an article about "superfoods" and they were going on and on about pomegranate. Well they're expensive here IF you can get them, so I ordered some off amazon, the brand is called Just Tomatoes (Just Pomegranate is the product - just dried pomegranate seeds, nothing else).
1oz is 90 calories but wow - 1 oz is like 1/3 cup(probably more, the bag is pretty big and it's just 3oz) so it's a lot!
They taste great, sweet/tart. 1T would be less than 1/4oz, so about 20 cals.
They can be rehydrated, too.
I thought I'd tell you guys about them since they're supposed to be really good for you
I mixed 1T of the pom seeds, 2T non-fat Fage, 1T bragg's vinegar and 1 drop ez-sweetz together and tossed that with some shredded cabbage for a nice slaw that was different!
I'm going to use the same "dressing" with my chicken breast salad, I think.

I found several VERY cool new salsas at Whole Foods that are awesome for DD sauces. They are made by the Brooklyn Salsa Company and are 5-10 calories per TBS. But what makes them awesome is the flavourings. Thai, Indian, asian, tropical--most have some coconut milk in them. I made shiritaki noodles with cabbage today and topped with one wedge laughing cow lite and 2 TBS of the thai Hot salsa. Just delicious for 50 calories. Highly recommended.

Those sound awesome! Are they in the jarred section or refrigerated?

The Republic of Tea:
Hibiscus superflower tea with pineapple and lychee.

I make it this way: 2 tea bags to 16oz water in a large mug. Microwave 2 minutes (I know, tea heresy!) and then add 2drops ez-sweetz.
This stuff is so good, and sweet. It tastes like a hot fruit dessert. I may try to find my popcicle molds and make some out of it!

Coffeemate powder

For those like me who can't live without something creamy in their coffee on DDs, I would love to suggest Coffeemate powder...10 calories a tsp!

I still use HWC just less. 1 t = 16.7 calories since there are 3 t in a T which = 50 calories

I do, too...it's an indulgence and makes up quite a few calories on a DD, but it's worth it!

It's a little more spendy, but perfect portion control- and they don't go bad!!

I keep them in my desk at work. "Just in case" since I'm trying to skip coffee on DDs, but can't always make it.

My sympathies. I did this once (trust me: once was enough) before I lost my weight and had to stay in a wheelchair for six weeks. If I had been lighter, I am sure I could have recovered sooner. I learned a lot about what handicapped people go through, and it ain't pretty!

I'm trying hard to like this- but it's not working for me. I have been using the Walden Farms Marshmellow dip as volume with my plain FF greek yogurt and love it.

OMG, now THAT's a great idea!

They sell Walden stuff locally at my grocery store, can you believe it? (we never have LC stuff in the stores here, only specialty...)

I'm going to check that out-- I went to netrition.com and saw there's no maltitol in the walden farms stuff, so it won't make me sick!
thanks for the tip!
