I am happy I am not the only one. I have prepped all my food for the next couple days so I hope that gets me back on plan!

I can't believe how fast April has gone by!

So, I had an off plan meal last evening. I got invited to parishioners for dinner and I ate what I was served! I talked to myself before going, reminding myself that even with a bump up on the scale this morning, I will have lost weight this week. Monday is my weigh in. So this morning, the few ounces up did not throw me, as I was able to look at the whole picture, and I had a great time, and I lost weight this week! All good. My chicken is prepped for the next several days.

That's a good attitude...if clothes are looser then we must be doing something right! The scale will catch up in the end. I'm still on plan, no cheats... Feel a bit bloated today but won't sweat it BC it can only be a bit of water retention. I ate too little yesterday. Four boiled eggs and a thin slice of low fat mature cheese (always allowed a tiny amount daily if I feel for it. I use it in place of the cottage cheese. It equates to about 50 cals has 0 carbs and has never disturbed my losses). Wondering if I should take a water pill to deal with this bloat or just wait it out? it's nearly 3pm and I've still not eaten... Think I'll have a steak, up the calories a bit. Keep going Mar!

Feeling good being back on plan today. I don't know why but Monday's are always good days to start for me. When I first did stills I started mid week but now anytime I start I have to start on a Monday or I don't end up sticking to it, I know it's a mental thing but it's weird lol

My aunt is doing low carb too so her so even though she lives in a different province we have been messaging a bit with recipes. It's nice to have someone in "real life" to be on a diet with.

Due to the death of my friend and a shift change at work ( I'm a nurse) I put off starting the diet. Yesterday was my first official day , and it went okay. 4 eggs and 4 sausages, which I know aren't allowed, but were in my fridge, and I figured " eat them" will help with transition.

I have a question though..I've been reading through old threads..have there any people aside from one who have successfully stuck to this diet and lost in a manner the diet suggests? I hope that came across properly..I did not mean to even sound remotely snarky. I'm just wondering if its even doable to follow the diet to a t?

If anyone here has experience or can refer me to threads, thanks in advance

Hannahmo, I'm sorry about the death of your friend.

Al is the master when it comes to weight loss on this diet. She did it twice! The weight gain after her first successful loss was due to the fact that she had a baby! And yes, she is the only one who has been able to post that kind of success. But most of us have indeed lost successfully following the diet. My problem, like so many others is simply having the ability to stay on the diet for any length of time! I know it works - I lost 60 pounds years ago when I had an uninterrupted stretch of staying on plan!

Sorry for your loss.

No offense taken. Most of us go in segments. So we go on stillmans lose weight transition to regular low carb to maintain the loss then repeat the cycle.for most the cycle is easier since the plan is strict and at least cycling helps not feel super deprived which could lead to eating super off plan. By the one person you definitely mean Al haha.she did 24 weeks straight super strict eating only chicken. So if you want to try almost 6 months of eating only chicken then great!you have true dedication and willpower. But the rest of us can't. I made it to like a month and a half or so of strict chicken only and dropped 12-16 pounds don't remember the exact number pretty sure it was 13.5 then switched the regular stillman for a few days and that week I hit 16 lost. But being so strict was super hard but it can be done.

Thanks for the replies

Mim~ how long did it take you to lose 60?

Kai~ do you mean you lost more when you added in the extras he listed?

I'm under no disillusion that I can realistically stick to this for 24 weeks haha. However, after my divorce, I lost my appetite and was eating a handful of gummy worms and tried to eat a banana a day... And lost about thirty lbs in two months. This was years ago, but it did show me ( while not intentional) that when overweight, taking it off through whatever means is actually healthier in the long term.. I kept it off for years just by being active and mindful on a regular diet. I am of the philosophy that being obese is just as detrimental as missing some nutrients..I do have two girlfriends who did something something similar before we knew there was an actual name for the diet haha..one lost 100 lbs in about 8 months and one about 40 in 4 ...and both have kept it off.

Eggs and mustard today!

Haha. I lost 13.5 in the month and a half of chicken only. I lost 2.5 in the week following by going into regular. Sounds weird but my body needed meat with a little fat temporarily or the scale was behind.mostly I think it was water loss because I was heavily seasoning the chicken to keep being able to eat it. The other meats tasted so good without seasoning after being constricted to just chicken. I should have gone back to chicken only right after that week to test my theory.but it was the holidays lol so I stayed on regular stillman and lost a bit.now though chicken only just seems to rough to try again.maybe I'll try it again someday but today isn't that day.haha.

Hannahmo - I lost the 60 in about 6 months. I was also walking on the treadmill for an hour a day during that time. Then I had to fly to New Zealand and was there for far longer than I had planned and just couldn't get back on!

Hannah- I think I lost 30-35 pounds in about 2.5-3 months, I was definitely not strict the whole time! It was over 5 years ago so I don't remember exactly how long it took. I kept then weight off for 8 months then started dating my bf and we started eating out more so I gained some weight then lost it again.

I ate fairly low carb and kept it off a bit longer and then I stared having panic attacks and I would eat nothing but low carb to have control of something. Then when I started to get over the attacks I did the opposite and ate everything is sight because I wanted to somehow prove I was stronger than my anxiety ( which was also a contro thing- anxiety makes you do weird things) and I gained 50 lbs in 5 months! And that was 2 years ago and now I am trying to lose it. I just don't have the will power I used to.

Anyways all that was to say I think I would have kept it off had I not gotten weird about my food and continued to eat the way I was.

Also I have the same mentality it's better to lose weight quick an "unhealthy way" if you can keep it off than continue to be overweight and have those problems associated with it.

I'm down a couple of lbs today...not sure the exact amount because my digital scale broke and my eyesight is horrible haha..although it was on 200 even and now it's below that haha. Going to pick up a good scale tomorrow.

I was thinking last night, my concern is the days I'm working, I do late stages alzeihmer's, which involves a lot if physical work , turning , lifting and changing , as well as as hospice, which again , is physical with the turning and lifts.

My concern is having enough energy on those days..I'm assuming that once I'm in ketosis I should be fine? My prior 30 lb loss I mentioned with the gummy worms ( haha) I was moving and looking for work , so I've not ever done a 12 hour shift on my feet while going an extreme diet ( intentional or not). I do remember being out and about hiking and swimming a lot though during that time period...so I should be fine?

Hope everyone else is on track and having a wonderful day!!

Hannah, the first few days are hard. Plus if you jumped straight into stillman instead of transitioning from a low carb diet into stillmans then you'll get Keto flu from carb withdrawal. It takes a few days to pass and then energy returns. The days you have the labor intensive work eat more meat you'll need the calorie boost. Honestly those days i wouldn't suggest only chicken...a lean meat that's considered slightly more fatty than chicken would probably be ideal at least for one meal.

I'm fine though.found out I'm insulin resistant and honestly that makes me super happy. I stalled months ago pretty much and still stall despite increased workouts and adhering to my diet.so it nice to find out there's nothing wrong with my method.so despite losing a ton my a1c hasn't budged at all since when I started last March so I've hit the point where dieting and exercise isn't enough to get any further on weight loss and they have not helped my a1c despite being consistent over a year now. Have to go on medication for awhile to get insulin sensitive to bring down my numbers which combined with my diet and exercise my body should be in equilibrium to be able to continue to lose weight.so I'm feeling really good right now.now just to wait for the doctor to fax the prescription....I'm so impatient.

I have my chicken all ready for lunch and dinner. I'm having eggs for breakfast - after all, they are just really young chickens, right? : )

Kal - well done on finding the reason you haven't lost more weight!

Hannahmo - as kal said - you will get energy! Hang with it!

Mar - isn't chicken so good? Not!!!!!!!!

yeah.happy doesn't even cover it. Haha. It's finally validation I've waited for since childhood. Through all the crazy diets and exercise programs several doctors put me on over the years and so much judgment when the results weren't showing improvements and I got blamed....it's amazing to finally have answers. I was squealing, screaming, and jumping for joy.
Icing on the cake is once I get to the normal range I can start coming off the medication slowly so it's not a forever thing!

Kal that's great that there's a reason for it and that the fix isn't a forever thing! You do so well so you will probably drop the weight once everything is back to normal.

Hannah- I would add protein on those days, you may need to add fat or a small salad. If you drink coffee I would have an extra cup ready to go on the first few days just in case. I know in the past when I started I was super tired at first, now I go go off plan for a week or longer but when I go back on I don't get that tired feeling.

Mim- I have said it before and I will say it again when you eat only chicken you know you are actually hungry when you start to crave it haha

I went for wings last night with the bf thinking that would be the better option for me for dinner out, but they were so salty! I was thirsty all night and even woke up in the middle of the night to drink water, which I never do. I am hoping all the salt won't stall me for long, I really want to get back to 182 by Friday so I am not up for the month.

I really hope so. I figure if I can stay on track after 4 months of bouncing the same 5 pound range then sticking to my diet and exercise regimen will be easier now especially if the scale starts to go down. At least then it's like I'm working toward something and not stuck.I'd even take a pound or two a month at this point and be happy.

I am so hungry tonight! Maybe I didn't eat enough today?
B:
Coffee with milk
2 hb eggs
L:
Chicken breast
Lean Steak strips
Coffee
D:
Shrimp with butter
2 tbsp of ground turkey (tomorrow's lunch)
Big slice of cheese
I added the butter and cheese in hopes of satiating me longer because I was so hungry this afternoon but it didn't seem to help!

I also had my weight in oz of water today.

Maybe I am getting back in ketosis after my week off? Monday and Tuesday were fine I am hoping the rest of the week are like that lol

Mar, I get ravenous some days.mainly right before or after my cycle. I normally dropped pounds (before this stall) during my cycle and my body would freak and start trying to make me eat more to put the weight back on. The hunger would subside after a few days but I'd stick to plan and have lots of water. It's not easy to ignore, but the pounds would stay off.

First - coffee. Then - more coffee. And then - more coffee! And finally breakfast. Eggs.

Lunch is chicken, dinner is chicken. I sure hope I see a loss for my weekly weigh in on Monday!

I think part of my hunger yesterday is that I ran out of coffee so I had to go buy some when I got to work. Not having the caffeine as soon as I woke up was hard!

I am back down to my stats today so I am happy! I have lots going on this weekend and am already planning out my meals that are at restaurants to keep me on track! Saturday and Sunday are my veggie days so that's makes it easier. I just don't know about family dinner in Sunday Aside from avoiding it.
