I hate planning meals, and am hoping I can live off hard boiled eggs and boiled chicken for the next 2.5 weeks.
Hey Elliot, welcome back! I'm doing Dukan which is very much like Stillmans but with added 0% fat yoghurt and 0%milk in phase 1. Makes life a little easier me thinks. You can do the chicken and eggs if you put your mind to it. Al, you might remember lost about 21lbs in 3 weeks eating just chicken! You can do it!

Unfortunately our old posts were deleted when there was a clean uphere. I would have loved to look back at some of the old posts).I bet you're now gonna tell me you are an oldie too, probably before my time and I've forgotten you . I can't see your post at the moment from the device I'm using so I'm just going from memory of your post. Anyway, thanks so much for your concern. It means a lot. It now seems I have Lupus, which is not a nice thing to learn but in some ways a relief to find out what's possibly wrong after feeling so unwell for so very long. Apparently, you can gain or lose weight with Lupus... Typically, I've gained . I mean, I can't begin to tell you... If there has been a med I have needed to take over the years, weight gain has always been a side effect. Never get the one that's associated with weight loss lol... Guess that's the way the cookie crumbles... Well my cookie anyhow. Anyway, just like everyone else here, I have a common goal... I want to lose weight. I know myself well enough to know that once I'm in the zone, the switch will flip and there will be no stopping me (I've made it to goal before and I'll do it again) It's just getting to that point that's the issue... That said With all that's going on, I really feel the switch is about to be flipped. I really feel it! I've said similar things before in the hope something magical would happen but I really feel certain this time and despite everything that is going on, I feel super excited. The truth is, I will be healthier slimmer and improve my possibilities for healing tremendously. I'll be around as much as I can, I'm sure we have spoken before? Oh I'm so embarrassed, the meds I'm on at the moment make my brain like a sieve!
Hi makemeslim that is very unfortunate about the lupus , I honestly do not know much about this illness . I hope that you are feeling better. I would make sure to keep eating healthy and not stress over the weight loss . We need all the nutrients we can get into our bodies to heal during an illness .
I had a thought perhaps your doctor can prescribe something to keep your weight under control? Not diet pills, sometimes healthy alternatives, they have a way for our bodies to absorb foods especially carbohydrates to a limit.

Just some friendly advice and best wishes on a healthy wellness going forward !

Update : I will be off plan till Saturday. My nephew and girlfriend are extending their visit . I am however taking it easy tomorrow since today was an indulgence . I already don't feel well . I think my body enjoys clean eating , which is good that's why tomorrow will be a healthier meal plan .

I did a Google search for lupus makemeslim and with the bit of information I gathered , I understand with prescriptions such as corticosteroids they can cause weight gain, and from what I continued to read it said that being overweight can do further damage to your body due to Lupus . A healthy diet, exercise and counseling from a nutrionist is recommended. I am well aware you know this information , I was just wondering if a nutrionist would be more helpful ?

I feel absent minded lately as well and I am no spring chicken at 51 I have been to many low carb forums and joined a few. I finally decided to post here recently since I poked here and there till I felt comfortable enough on this site to put my advice and opinions out there.

I have some health issues that need to be addressed too makemeslim and many of them related to being overweight like high blood pressure and my gall bladder as well as approaching the change of life that my memory is not like it once was . Too bad I do not have selective memories

Thanks for the advice. Don't know much about Lupus either but it seems I have been suffering with symptoms for years. A pic I took of me showing the "butterfly" rash seem to pull it all together for the consultants I was seeing for a blood clot at the time. I see a Lupus specialist on the 28th. Should know more then. I could ask the doc but I don't think there is much they prescribe here. I've got some Orlistat/Xenical somewhere (probably out of date) but ultimately do believe the body needs some fat. My joints hurt so much right now, I'm beginning to think of returning to keto. Ugh, I dunno... The stress alone should help me lose! I'll speak to doc though. You are right... My main concern is health. I'm trying to find a diet that will help health and lose weigh BC ultimately this extra weight is not good for my joints and many other things. Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the well wishes. How are things with you? Is the scale behaving?

Believe it or not I was always health conscious and super skinny naturally. Then I got ill with what was first called Fybromyalgia and then later considered ME. I have spent years in bed! I Kid you not. I'd get up for a day or two and then be so flaked out I couldn't get up. Of course there were many other symptoms and sometimes I'd get up for longer periods but I was always dragging my arse around if you know what I mean. It was the inactivity that caused the weight gain. You'd think it would be a simple as eat a bit less but when I'm so inactive it's almost impossible to lose unless I starve I guess, hence Stillman lol. Anyway, I'm moving more, due to some pain meds, though I hate them but what can I do?! Sorry to hear about your health issues. Mim knows a lot about the gall bladder I believe and my daughter had hers removed not too long ago so if I can be of any help at all just ask and I'm sure Mim would say the same. Maybe she already has... I've not been around for a while. I'm 46, so not too far behind you... The change can start any time from now as I understand it. I've a friend the same age as me and she's not had a monthly in a year! I really want to trim down before it starts as I understand it makes losing difficult?

You're welcome makemeslim!
Lack of energy will definitely make it difficult to lose, not only the visible energy you feel but the energy you don't see that's sluggish all the internals that are in slow mode .
Yes , the change makes losing weight more difficult because hormone fluctuations. Better to slim down before that time .

I like adding fats to my diet especially when I feel a carb frenzied attack coming . I will enjoy my coffee with cream, eat some bacon or chicken with the skin or a juicy steak! a few low carb veggies on the side and I am good to go when I am expecting (TOM)

I have a gallstone , high blood pressure and back issues not at all shocked that the excruciating gallstone pains along with my lower backache improve with weight loss and my blood pressure is lower however it still fluctuates due to my love for salt I do drink water and lots of tea though.

I hope you are having a healthy day makemeslim ! I really enjoyed our exchanges on here, it is good to let those feelings out about health and weight loss. I think it is possible we can all learn from each other and make this journey easier going forward .

I feel for you, my daughter had so many stones an attack would bring us to A&E. Its horrible pain. I have back issues also but dare I say it, it's not been too bad lately. Maybe BC I'm focussed on the knee and joint pain. I am so stiff in the mornings right now, I do wonder if some of it is diet related. I feel so certain I can reach goal, I have that confidence you get when you know something is in the bag but now, what with the stiff joint problem, I do wonder If I need to change plan. I've been ok doing diet wise. I need to get the fit board out and check my progress. It is the only scale I have. I use to have a pair that told you your fat, water, muscle percentages but I learned they were a con which was a shame BC I loved the idea of them. If anyone knows of any such scales that are legit, please let me know. I'm thinking about what to have for breakfast... Your juicy steak sounds good! Maybe I'll make one for brunch in a couple of hours.

I have just been doing low carb and it's not working for me. It's good for maintenance as I haven't gained weight but it's not working for weight loss, I am jealous of all the people who can just cut carbs and it works for them!

I will be back to stills/dukan today. At least I have the rest of July to start losing! I would really like to be 160/165 before I start trying on wedding dresses so I gotta get on this!

Hi makemeslim how are you feeling ? I found a scale on Amazon that may be of interest to you . I hope that you enjoyed a nice juicy steak for brunch.
Here is the info:
EatSmart

4.2 out of 5 stars**5,064Reviews

EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale w/ 400 lb. Capacity & Auto Recognition Technology

I am still using my 12 year old scale, it is close to my doctors scale from my last visit when I went for my check up.
Speaking of scales I weighed myself I know , I know I can't help it my curiosity gets me every morning . After my carb binge I am at 158.6lbs. I know that all will change tonight because we all are going out to eat and I am craving carbs UT Oh !

Congratulations!
Mar922 I know you feel stuck . I call it all gummed up stuck on the same number. You're right better than a gain . Here is a suggestion how about switching to smoothies some protein powder, low fat yogurt , healthy carb fruits like berries and see if a day or two helps to move the scale down or try bacon and eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 4 days .
You got this ! and you will look fabulous on your wedding day !

I'm back! I had a wonderful time bonding with my newest granddaughter! And I lost a pound while I was gone. That never happens! But I was able to stay pretty much on plan while I was away. This is a first!

MMS - I'm sorry about your diagnosis, but at least now you know what the issue is and how best to take care of yourself. As you know, I have MS and as one autoimmune to another, here is my advice - cut out all artificial sweeteners. It will make a difference - trust me!

Thanks Mim, I did not know that. That's gonna be a toughly but something I'll have to do if it's hurting me. Does that include Stevia? Guess not BC it's natural. What about sucralose? Is that made from a natural source. I know it was once considered safe but not so sure now.

Coffee is the best thing ever! Can you tell it is morning here?

MMS - I would stay away from sucralose too. I have cut out anything that is not real food. And so, I eat meat, fruit and veggies. I am actually losing weight! And I am not in so much pain and the MS is behaving better than it has in awhile. If you can get it, read Whole30.

I deserve what the scale said this morning and I am surprised it's not more ! 163.6lbs. Time to cool it and get myself under control. I hope Stevia is fine. I thought it was a natural sweetner.

Happy Sunday !

Hello friends! I overslept a bit this morning. I guess I needed it. I had a good on plan weekend, and that makes me feel good. I have a date Monday, a week from today. That will be the first time I will have really gone off plan in a month!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day !
I was enjoying some gardening and reading about diets. I found an interesting article about how too much acid in our blood can contribute to sicknes and difficulty losing weight . It is better for the digestive system to have a healthy alkaline balanced blood.
I am considering going for some blood work to see if my digestive issues have anything to do with my ph levels .
I get so painfully bloated I assumed it was my gallstone .
I have been drinking lemon water each morning even before my coffee to keep things well balanced .
Good news Stevia is natural and does not have acidity like sugar .
Happy Tuesday !

Hello, all. I continue to do well on my plan. I'm finding it very easy to do, and so that is really helpful. I am not going in to work today as friends are visiting and we are going to an olive oil and vinegar store! I'll get some flavored vinegars to use in salad dressings.

Coffee good. Morning hard. I wanted to sleep in this morning!

I bought a big bottle of Tuscan olive oil, and Fig Balsamic, Dark Chocolate Balsamic, Ruby Red Grapefruit Balsamic, and Blackberry Ginger Balsamic. I'm looking forward to putting them to good use!
