He got his gold award over a year ago! Where did that go?

Fingers crossed for your husband and for your hospital visit.

My father’s still at home, but some days he can’t even manage to lift his “good” hand to eat or drink. A slightly comic indicator of his deterioration was when he passed control of the TV remote to my mother! Then we knew it must be bad. Now his poor feeble, barely intelligible voice croaks out numbers from the corner. You’ll suddenly hear “twenty five” or “seventeen” when it’s time to change over.

They’ve changed the names of the courses now, so we’ll just go to some ongoing ones, but not get any fancy labels. We just go now because Bembo really loves it. They come in groups of six, so we do one, then have a few weeks off, then do another one when we feel like it.

My sister in law has been told she probably only has about a year to live, and her brother has just been diagnosed with metastatic cancer too, so things are really rough for her family. She & my brother have a grandson who’s nearly 18 months and another one on the way, & she’s devastated that she probably won’t see them grow up.

Just tragic Ailuros. As you say shy, it is almost impossible to imagine.

I am looking forward to Vicky coming home, only just over a month now.

I know, I just keep hoping to wake up and find it’s not real. I can’t imagine how it is for her & my brother & their children.

Hello everyone, I saw on my Facebook page that lovely Mimosa got married last Saturday. So thrilled for her.

Also 'Blotto' completed her second Ironman in Rio... Amazing.

Things are good here, I am in Devon just now which is peaceful.

Hope you are all doing okay

Oh wow congrats to Mimosa and our VERY fit Blotto!

Wouldn't mind being in Devon myself. Enjoy kissa

Bad news in that hubs has some more 'red patches' so they want him to go in for another biopsy.

Ailuros hope things are ok with the family and everyone is managing to deal with things as best they can

Glad things are going well for you, Kissa & hope Mimosa had a wonderful wedding!

Shy, keeping my fingers crossed for your husband.

We’re all carrying on carrying on. I’m still hovering just under 9 stone, and still wishing the number would be lower. Bembo is doing a fine job of keeping us all cheerful. He’s 2˝ now!

It's so lovely at present. We had a successful Yellow Book garden opening weekend with our friends. Sold lots of cake and plants despite heavy rain on one day.

tbh, all I want to do at present is find somewhere sun-safe and snooze there for a day or so. That or a good outing on the sea.

Sorry to read about the patches, Shy.

BIG news bud light is back on sale in the Uk, Only 6.7g a can!!! Ok maybe not big news for some but for me is pretty big lol

Hope everyone is doing ok and the poorly families are managing. DH has hospital on 6th July to check his 'patches'. We were going to book a cruise but that has now gone on hold

Are back at goal shy? Brilliant. Shame about the cruise, but hopefully they will be able to sign him off again. It has been a long haul for you both.

All good here, I am looking forward to Vicky arriving on 20th. Have been maintaining around 120 quite easily. Thrown in a few 45 hour fasts and eating pretty LC.

Have had a 'hungry' day today, just finished off 1/2 a large pot of Greek yoghurt, after a fish curry.

I hope your husband gets some good news, Shy. So worrying.

We’re all hanging on. Bembo keeps us cheerful at this end, and my nephew and niece are busy getting the next generation underway at their end, which helps the others. My brother & sister in law are talking about coming to stay with us for a few days, but have to fit it around her treatments, and the dates keep changing while they wait for her immune system to recover.

My moderate carb stuff suits me, but the problem is that any weight loss is very slow, so going off-plan at all brings it to a complete halt. Anyway, I dug some old trousers out from the back of the cupboard, so at least I have something to wear until I can get back in the smaller ones. And I’m managing to stay under 9st.

oh i do hope they get to come and stay soon so Bembo can do some of his magic on them too!!
like you i HAVE to stay exactly on plan to lose and to be honest i am tired of it so if i can stay around this weight I am going to be happy with that for now. Bloody menopause grrr

Is Vicky still over here? Hope she and Kissa are having a great time & that everyone else is doing well.

We’re just back from a few days at my parents’. My father’s in hospital, and not in great shape. He went in with a chest infection, which turned out to be pneumonia. That was sorted out with a few days of antibiotics, but every time he has something like that, there’s a general decline. He’s really beyond the point now where my mother can take care of him with anything short of full time live in help, so he’ll probably have to go into a nursing home. The various hospital teams are having their say, so hopefully between them and us, we can work out what he needs and how to pay for it. He’s 83, so in the end this disease probably won’t have shortened his life very much, but it’s a horrible way to spend your last years.

Oh dear ailuros sorry to hear about your dad. Remember when we had to think about a nursing home for mine and it's a hard decision. Hugs

Thanks, Shy. In some ways the fact that the decline happened in hospital makes it easier than sending him from home. It’s fairly clear that he needs full time nursing care, so in that sense it’s not a difficult decision, but we know how much he’d rather be at home, so that part is hard.

How are you doing?

I guess the hardest is for him to accept it, hopefully u will find the right place for him to make it easier for your mum as well as him and you

We are good, hubs latest biopsies came back clear so we don't have to go back for 6months which is fab after 2.5 yrs of solid hospital appts!!

Oh, that’s great news!

My father's asleep a lot of the time. You can sit with him for a couple of hours and he just wakes up for a moment and doesn't necessarily remember the visit later, so it's hard to have much of a conversation — even apart from not being able to tell what he's trying to say if he does speak. Oh well, it's all part of life.
