Also this is a tangent but I realized when I did atkins that people keep saying cream had no carbs but it's because of the serving size. A serving of milk is 1 cup, cream is a tbsp. so if that if you put them to the same serving you are getting 6 g of carbs per serving for cream so although is lower it isn't carb free.

My normal weigh was the 160ss for years but once I finally started losing it did go down. Just keep doing it! I have to follow my own advice right now too and not quit because I am not weighing so I don't know if I am losing and it's a slippery slope for me. But I am trying to remember if I quit now I stay if I stick with it even if it's slow loss it's still a loss.

See I've never read the book, so stillmans advocates that low fat is more of a priority than low carb? I have read that cream has less than 1 carb per tbsp so they are able to get away with labeling as zero carb. But you only need 1-2 tbsp max of cream for coffee, when I use milk I need 1/2 cup to get it to taste right and we can have unlimited cottage cheese???! Why did I think it was 1/2 cup?

Definitely true sticking with it is always better than quitting and gaining. I have maintained a 90 lb loss for 3 years, 100 lbs since fall, and unfortunately know how quickly that weight can come back on when you give up! though stillmans is definitely a tool I can use to try to get out of plateaus or a quick way to drop recent weight gains it is not a WOE for me. Too crash diet-ish for me to sustain long term. I'm happy to have it in my arsenal though for when the need arises!

Well that 90lbs loss WAS fantastic 12 years ago but because the diet was so strict I burned out quick and ended up gaining it all back plus 20!!! Then I tried the strict diet again lost 76 lbs , got pregnant and gained it all back! Then I tried weight watchers lost 50 lbs , gained it all back! I've been around the block a few times lol! Nothing ever stuck till I found primal and then implemented fasting with Juddd. Now to just lose the last pesky 10-20 lbs!

Sigh........idk idk had beef patties, chicken sausage, deli ham, yogurt and cottage cheese yesterday, 1100 calories. Even if the burgers are too fatty that's still a calorie deficit so I should still be losing Very much considering just doing a down day( juddd) and fasting today. I don't want to go into the weekend at 164 because I could very well come out of it 166-168.

Mar- I think cream is supposed to be better than milk, milk has sugar and carbs, cream is just fat. I'd go back to cream if it's what you prefer anyways! Well I'm definitely experiencing the same, this round of stillmans just isn't yielding the impressive losses that my first round did. Could be that I weigh less or body is just really stuck in 160's and doesn't want to budge!

Mim- my scale is being mean to me too!

Makemeslim- you are right I definitely need to give the scale a break but I always fear gaining if I'm not constantly vigilant. The times in my life when I didn't weigh were the times I also put on massive amounts of weight. 2 summers ago we went on a month long trip where I thought I was being healthy ( excercising a ton, staying gluten free) and I was shocked when I came back home and had gained 18 lbs! sigh, I'll give it a try next week, I'll weigh Monday and then I won't weight again till Friday, baby steps

Lowcarber- I think for sure if you follow stillmans strictly you can definitely lose 20 lbs by April for your trip! Welcome and good luck!
Great! Will be interested to see your numbers Friday. As long as you are on plan the only thing you can possibly gain is water. No way you are gaining fat on 1100! Here's to a woosh next week!

2/25 Day 2 (-4 lbs) same
2/26 Day 3 (-1 lb) same
2/27 Day 4 (-1 lb) same
2/28 Day 5 (-2 lbs) same
3/1 Day 6 (-0) same
3/2 Day 7 (-0) same
3/3 Day 8 (-2)

So if I count Friday morning to Friday morning, that's 10 lbs gone. But today is the start of Day 8, so maybe I should only count 8 lbs gone this week. Why is this math so difficult?

Either way, its a good day! I was struggling gagging down chicken yesterday, but it paid off. I plan on sticking to the same simple plan this coming week. I'm not ready to strip away my condiments yet. But I am going to try to stick to 2 chicken breasts, unless I turn to beast mode on the grumpy scale, and then I will have another. I will not pass 3 however, from this day forward.

Gotta catch up on the posts! Hoping to read some great success stories!!!!
Great numbers Al and you deserve them what with all that chicken. "Buk buk buk buk brrr-awk!" No seriously, you might cluck after this.

You must live on my block! Too bad we didnt high five each other each time we ran around. Next time you see me, trip me or punch me in face!! Dieting is exhausting. Im so done after this.

I am thrilled that you have finally found a way to balance it all out and maintain a healthy lifestyle after your last few pounds are gone. Good for you!!!!

Stillman never really went into detail on carbs in his book. It was written in the 60's and he focused on protein, low fat, and low calories. Although the QWL plan does state "unlimited amounts", you can tell as you read through the book he expected his patients to keep calories low, and keep small portions. Like just eat enough to satisfy hunger. (Im a volume eater so this is really hard for me to do unless I am on QWL and have no appetite or desire to eat)

There's a chapter on how QWL burns an extra 275 calories/day, that explains how our bodies burn protein. His book really has no hard core scientific facts. Its merely his plan to lose the most amount of weight, the quickest way possible. I'll find the thread with excerpts from the book and bump it. The book really is an interesting read when you have a chance. He gives so many different diet options if one thing is not working, but it all focuses on low calories, and little fat.

So you're probably not wrong about the 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, because although its not in the 3 page QWL plan, he is all over the place adding things and changing things throughout the rest of the book. He will say anything to get us to lose weight/fat. That sneaky guy...

I have gone dress shopping but I have not picked a dress yet. I have been told 6 months to get the dress in and then 2 months for alterations so I have to make a decision by March 25! Which just so happens to coincide with th end of my strict stills. Hopefully I get a dress before then but I am using it as motivation as well like by the end of my strict stills hopefullt i will be down a dress size and order that. or smaller.

I am not sure what do to for ordering it. I am inclined to order it in the size I am when I buy the dress so that if I don't lose more weight I still have a nice dress but if I lose weight then it will be too big and i will need alterations. What should I do?

Yeah I hve come back to stills a few times. at first because I started gaining and it got me back down and then the last few times because I gained 50lbs but I haven't been able to stick with it. Although this most recent tile I have been doing it one week straight today and I haven't really wanted to go off plan. I am not weighing for the first time ever and I wonder if thats helping, because the first time I did stills I lost so well that the last few times whenever I tried if i don't lose a bunch the first week I quit. I weighed on the 1st of march and my goal is to not weight until March 25 but if I fee the need to weigh I will I just won't do it daily.

Hi everyone

So nice to see you are all here... I tried the keto plan and did high fat but guess what??? I gained ALOT. I dont get it. I thought high fat was suppose to be soo great for you?

Anyhow, I am coming back to stillmans because it was the only way that kept me full and relatively lean. Right now, I need to lose 10 lbs. I hope i get the support and reminders that I can do this.

The only thing I will miss is chicken wings. I love them. And bacon... but I can get lean bacon and use that..

What do you guys think? The butter totally messed me up. Plus, I was trying foods that I normally would not eat.

Lord.. give me HOPE and Strength for stillmans becuase I feel so puffy and gross now.

:)

Alerria-- Love the pic and Mar-- I TOTALLY AGREE. BORING IS AMAZING. I LOVE LOVE LOVE PLAIN AND BORING EVERYTHING
