Scale was down this morning, but still not lower than my official weight But I am down 1.5" so I am very happy with that

The weather here is crazy. Lots of rain (but no flooding, knock on wood), and extremely cool temps. Yesterday at 2:00, usually the hottest time of day, it was only 75, and today we haven't even hit 80 at noon. These are normally low temps (actually, higher than low temps) this time of year! Not complaining, just very strange.

Congrats to all the losers!!!

kind!

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & Toranis
D - chicken breast sauteed in butter; salad w/lettuce, cheese, bacon, green goddess dressing

kind! I am not strictly lc and I don't follow Atkins. I have in the past, but not at this time.

WTG, Dimply! At least the scale *moved* and in the right direction!

Nice loss, FM!

It is frustrating, Jess! Thankfully, things are much better now! *knock on wood*

Nancy~ it wasnt new loss. It was a blip up I had right as we weighed in for August. No rhyme or reason to the scale for me. I'm doing 3 days of it again this week. We shall see if it makes a difference. It sure is good though!

RockinPeach~ Nice loss lady!!! Woo hoo!!

Findingme ~ Yeah! Im so happy for you! Nice job!

Dimply ~ Hooray for downward movement!! That is odd weather for you. I know rain kind of stinks but the cools temps are probably a nice change.

Kind~ Welcome! I think we have a mix of plans. 4 miles is impressive!

Jess~ Way to go on the loss! It sounds like you are really in tune with what works for your body.

Gail~ I hope all is well today and work is taking it easy on you!

Michelle~ We miss you!

I decided to do 3 more days of the Turbo soup for 2 meals a day along with the rest of the plan. It is very good but Ill admit Im crabby watching dh fill his mouth with chips all night. Thats after having 3 bbq sandwiches and 4 fried potatoes. What must it be like to not worry about weight and have an issue? Im having a mini pity party and a bit of diet fatigue. I sure as heck dont want to go back up to 239 ever again so keep working on it I go!

Todays eats:

2 bacon, 2 eggs, half an avocado

soup

1/2 c tuna salad with celery

soup

Kind, welcome!

Mick, I hear you about feeling diet fatigue and watching folks eat high carb yummy foods. Stay strong. You can do this and you ARE doing it.

Hi everyone! I wanted to tell you guys about an amazing nsv I've had since getting strict with my eating. I deal with debilitating pain and inflammation every single day for over 2 years that recently got so bad I could barely function. I was taking painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications daily and it was still hardly bearable.

As of this week I'm off all pain medication and I'm only taking my anti-inflammatory medication! I can hardly believe it. I still have some pain but it seems to be a little better every day!

Does anyone else have NSV? I'd love to hear about yours! Thanks everyone for the support!

Yay Rockinpeach! So happy for you!
My NSV is a little more vanity oriented, sadly. We took photos from my company's boat cruise/company outing event. Now, I work with a lot of pretty, young skinny women -- and they are all super people. In the past, I cringed at being photographed with them because I looked so FAT next to them.
Well, in this batch of photos from the boat cruise, I blended right in. I didn't look like super large, just normal-sized, which was nice.

I still have a ways to go but seeing tangible progress always feels good.

That's an awesome nsv Gailygail! I can imagine that would feel amazing!

Handbells, it definitely makes it worth the work! I find myself making good low carb choices when I would normally cheat simply because I don't want to ever go back to that pain again.

Temp was back up to 95 today and outside feels like a sauna again, but the brief respite was nice.

Scale was down again today - hope it continues. It has 2 weeks to make up for, so I expect FindingMe losses

Mick - That would piss me off watching DH chow down too. Although I am pretty much OK with eating this way, I just wish that I could enjoy an occasional indulgence without running the risk of it turning into a binge and undoing weeks of work in a matter of days.
I'm sorry for the loss of DH's uncle.

rockinpeach - That is an awesome NSV!! My recent NSV is being able to fit into some clothes that haven't fit in years.

RondaKay!!

Gail - Very nice NSV! Based on your avi, I have no doubt that you are every bit as gorgeous as your co-workers, if not more so.

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & Toranis
D - bunless hamburger w/mustard; salad w/lettuce, cherry tomatoes,Olive Garden Italian dressing

Mick- It takes a long time to get over watching everyone eat themselves to death. But over time it will get easier. Hang in there. I get tired of it too. I just remember that it will be jeans season here and I didn't like how my jean shorts fit around my muffin top, so I need to keep my nose to the grindstone so I can wear them when it's time. Eyes on the prize. You don't need that stuff. I never stopped wanting it. But a lot of the time I can look at it now and think, "meh, I just don't care. It's not for me." And move on.

Dimply-glad it's finally moving. Scales are so rotten!

rockinpeach- so glad to hear you're getting relief. I have intermittent joint pain, but pain in my hip to a lesser degree most of the time, and when it flares up it's just miserable. I'm so glad you're becoming free of that!

Gail- great NSV!!

Rondakay- welcome!

Not much to report. I'm not weighing again until Friday. I'm doing what I'm supposed to do. Exercising and eating under my calories. Waiting waiting waiting for my body to respond. I'll check my measurements again Friday too maybe. Things are nuts. Homeschooling all 4 kids. DH preparing for a business trip for a week (and he's not happy about it so he is cranky.)

Just making it through the week.

Hi all!

Sending a quickie from my phone...

LOOKING GOOD everyone!

Welcome Kind and RondaKay!

Mick, so sorry about your uncle-in-law.

Dimply, I hope you are just teasing and continue to get better losses than me! It took me over 2 weeks to get off the last 2 lbs even sticking with my usual cal def and after no movement I was greeted with another uptick for no reason whatsoever. Rinse repeat. Sigh argh sigh. I'm hoping the slowness will help it to stay off for once and it can't hurt the ole skin. AND DONT forget how much/how fast you lost last challenge. You are still rocking it with healthy losses!

Have a great evening everyone and keep pushing!!!

Not teasing at all - you're doing great!!! You've lost over 2.5 lbs in each of the past 2 weeks, which is awesome! The scale being stupid bothers me only because it makes me feel like I'm not making any progress, when logically I know I am. Patience is not one of my virtues

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & Toranis
D - chicken breast sauteed in olive oil; salad w/lettuce, bacon, cheese, egg, Ranch dressing

Keep up the good work everyone!!

GAIL ~Your NSV made me smile! Thats fabulous!!! I'm so happy for you!!!

RONDAKAY~ Welcome! Thanks for joining us! The soup is called a tkins turbo soup. Pretty tasty!

ROCKINPEACH~ That is excellent news! Hooray!!!! Thats big!!

DIMPLY~ Yeah for being down! Woo hoo on shrinking!!! Ya know it doesnt usually piss me off. I think its because I was actually restricting for once. Im a oddball but for me permission to go spike oncee in a while stops binges.

FINDINGME~ Good point on the skin issue! I hate those upticks too but we are just not perfectly tuned machines. Sigh

Well I am definatey not liking restricting calories using the soup plan so I am done restricting. It certainly didnt speed up my loss and I am hungry, crabby and wanting to beat someone for having other food LOL!!! I think I was doing just fine with my previous plan with basic low carbs and the CN spikes here and there Oh well it never hurts to try something new. I do LOVE that soup though so I will keep making it but not eating it twice a day! Im going back to my piggy, uncounting, restricting old ways. Ill take losing slower over not being miserable and hungry.

I had to get labs this morning and have a dr appt tomorrow morning to follow up on all the liver stuff and inflamation I still think was a fluke. Cross your fingers Im right! I have a lunch date with some friends also tomorrow. The place is really hard with a wheat allergy so there sure wont me any temptation!!

Down a couple this morning, so that's good. I have been bouncing a little up and down all week, but this morning it seems legit, so I will record it.

Hoping for the best for all of you this week! Gotta dash and head to work!

Weighed. No further change...oh well...maybe next week.

Mick-I feel you. I'm restricting, and I don't want to beat anyone for eating more food than me, but I'm sure sick of it.

Morning all!

Gonna attempt this on my phone again so I'll probably forget most of what I want to say.

Jess - Yay for maintaining!

Nancy - Congrats on the new numbers!

Mick - Know you will rock the doctor visit!!! You have to do what works for you because it has to be sustainable. And I don't really look at this like a diet anyway. It is now a lifestyle. I'll never be able to eat like a normal person and keep the weight off. Sux to get old but my genes have been against me since I was born at 10 lbs; being one of the smallest among my also obese relatives and I don't recall ever being a normal weight in my life.

Thanks Dimply but my spreadsheet tells a different story. It might look that way because of the day I post stats. I didn't lose anything between July 21st and August 8th (I think?) and ended the month with an uptick. The averages look good though and the trend downward is what matters the most! So I'm trying not to look at what I should of lost and just be happy I lost anything as I start the fun pause cycle. LIFE. YOU are the one that is doing the AWESOMEST among us!!!

I had planned on having a freebie frap treat if the scale let me down again this morning. And it did. I got a late start but I went for a long walk first. In the end, I decided to wait until the end of the month as planned. I did stock up on veggies that I rarely eat and some lovely pork chops to break my chicken monotony. GO ME!

Have a great weekend everyone and remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!

Well my Dr appt sure had an odd conversation! He told me not to lose anymore weight for 4 months and just try to maintain the loss. I sure didnt see that coming. I expected to hear keep going! He explained it would be better for my chances of success and my metabolism to take maintence breaks while losing. Of course Im not doing it since I joined and paid in full for a 6 month wager again. I told him that and the number. He said he would really prefer I maintain for a while but if I insist go for that number not a pound more. Then stop. I told him about really trying to lower my calories instead of eating until I was satisfied. I got an interesting lecture on metablolism, why not to lower calories more than 2 to 3 days and how not to wreck my metabolism. I was absolutely dumbfounded by being told I should stop for a few months. He did make a lot of sense though. He also thought the way I had been eating was just fine. I shall be happy with my slow loss I guess when the big picture is pointed out. The liver stuff was not normal but way better and the inflamation markers were also way down.

Tomorrow we plan to go fishing in the kayaks. Yeah! I'm bringing bread for the ducks

Eats!

omlete with cheese, peppers, sausage and a double side of buttered broccoli

coffee

soup

greek yogurt with protein powder mixed in

NANCY~ good for you!!! Hope you had a great day!

JESS~ You are so close to goal. I know it is probably frusrating to not see any loss but your doing fab!! LOL on not wanting to beat anyone up

FINDINGME~ You know I didnt really look at it as a diet either until I tried lowering calories a lot with the soup plan. I liked the food I was just hungry. I was perfectly happy low carb with my periodic carb spikes. I should not be reading on here other threads about how people tweak to lose so fast. Your right though I dont think we can ever go back to eating like a so called normal person. YEAH YEAH on the walk and treating yourself to some chops and different veggies! Like you said your worth it! We all are!

JENN~ look at you go!! WTG!!

To everyone that hasnt popped in I hope you all had a fabulous day! I hope you all have fabulous Saturday!

Had a couple of NSVs today. Attended an open house at DH's company's new building (building is spectacular; I texted former boss a few pics & he texted back that my DH needs to find us both jobs there..lol), and the shirt I wore, which was tight-ish just a month ago, was loose. I could grab & pull a handful of fabric in the back. We took a photo in the photo booth & the picture was taken before I was ready & I have this hilarious look on my face. I sent it to a friend of mine who always says I have the best expressions, thinking she'd have a laugh. She lives in UT now & I have not seen her since 2015, and she texted back how great I looked and how shapely I am. It was a surprise to me because all I could see were my giant arms & boobs, and I had actually tried to crop it so just my face showed, but I was on my phone. They served breakfast, lunch, and there were snacks everywhere, but I did not touch a thing, other than 4 bottles of water
Then I went for a mani/pedi and the owner's husband, who I have not seen since the beginning of the year, was there. He said, "<Dimply>, you have lost so much weight!" So even though the scale is being a butt, progress is being made!

nanabell -Great loss! You are almost at 10 lbs gone forever!

jess - Looks like our scales are in cahoots, but Mick is right - you are so close to goal that your loss will be slower. Are you measuring or using smaller sized clothing as a gauge?

Jenn - Great loss!

Mick - Restricting is hard, but at least you found a new soup recipe. I have heard that same maintenance advice that you got from your doctor, and I am considering working on that in about 30 lbs., once I am no longer considered obese. But I don't think I could do it for 4 months - probably alternating one month maintaining, one month losing (or trying to!). Maybe for our next 6 month challenge. So glad that your inflammation markers are down Have fun fishing!

FindingMe - A walk, pork chop, and veggies are much better for you than a frap. What did I say about the anticipation being better than the reality I agree about this being a way of eating for life. What I hate is that the decision to have a glass of wine, or some popcorn at the movies, (or not) becomes almost an obsession for me! But that's on me and my almost 30 years of disordered eating. And again, anticipation vs reality. <sigh>

Dimply those are such fabulous compliments and you deserve them!!! You really have lost the pounds and are so diciplined. It sounds like you had a very nice time!!! I dont plan to do the maintaining he says either until I hit my goal for the wager. I'm not losing my money I bet. Plus I would really like to see a change by our Feb vacation.

We ended up boating with friends also yesterday. Had a fabulous time and ended up with them overnight here as we live a ways apart. We had fun. Got to bed at 2 and I never can sleep past 6. I slept until almost 11 and missed seeing them off. I was thrilled to sleep so late!

Today is a very lazy day.

I have to weigh in both Wed and Thur for the contest so Ill update weigh then.

Yesterday:

coffee

chicken, pork, broccoli

lots of beef sticks and cheese/ wine

Thank you, everyone!

I wish I had some NSV's, but I don't. No compliments, no loose clothing. It's alright though. I've just begun.

Going out to eat tonight, but I've planned for it. Golden Corral. DS12tomorrow's choice. And I'm making him a cheeseburger shaped birthday cake!

Dimply, congratulations on the NSVs. Those are wonderful!
Mick, glad you had a great time boating with friends.
FindingMe, you are making great choices!
Jess, congratulations on your loss!
Jenn, have fun at the Golden Corral!
Welcome Ronda!

I've been busy and have not been posting much but I will get back to it! We made shrimp in a cognac cream sauce yesterday and it was so good. It's been a little hard for me lately as I've felt very tempted by high carb foods. So I am trying to make new recipes to keep us focused. Have a great day everyone!

Morning everyone!

Gail - So sorry that you are having a tough time of it! Good for you trying new recipes to keep things exciting. The shrimp sounds delish!!!

Jenn - Outstanding loss! Great attitude! They say if you carry the weight "well" that it sometimes takes people awhile to notice. My mother used to never notice until I lost 40 lbs. Now, she can't tell a difference even almost 70 down. Also, you have to think of that paper towel theory for each pound loss, it might not come off all in one spot so it might take a minute for things to feel loser. You got this!

Dimply - Congrats on all the NSVs! And doing so well out and about with those temptations, too!!! I like to think that we are still slimming up and losing fat even though the scale is being ornery. I know we are doing a good thing no matter what! And it is a feeling of empowerment not giving in.

Mick - Wow! What a wonderful thing for a doctor to say. I can't even imagine. Maybe when you get to your wager weight, you'll be ready to maintain for awhile. As much exercise as you get, you will probably continue to get toned even if you aren't at your "ideal" weight. Remind me how much you have to win for the wager? Was it the same amount of time as our challenge? Good for you having a fun weekend!

I'm still hanging in. Dumb scale. MEH. Anyway, I upped my calories for a few days and even had a whopping 1600 ysd, but no joy. Still keeping my deficit streak. I was thinking about making it a weekly average of 7000 calorie deficit instead of a daily 1000. Kind of like the old WW thing for banking calories. So far, I haven't used that yet, but my wheels are spinning. I'm back weighing daily, too. I don't know why I want to punish myself, but I just can't resist. I'm down 2/10ths - 4/10ths of a lb depending on the daily scale mood FOR THE WEEK, but no gain so yay.

Have a great week everyone!!!

Mick- Yeah, that's the stinky thing about being close to goal weight. Turtles pass me by. Snails even. I am keeping measurements and it looks like I've lost just a little bit there. Still not back down to where I'm most comfortable in my jeans, but hopefully I'll be closer in another month or 2 when it's finally cool enough to wear them. Unfortunately, I'm a size 10, and even if I was starving to death, my hips wouldn't ever get much smaller so I'd still be a size 10! Of course if I lost too much more weight I'd lose my chest completely as well (my dd14 will surpass me in size there soon) and no longer look feminine at all. I used to be so chesty. Apparently it was all a lie.

Gail- that is a great strategy!

FindingMe: sorry your scale is still being silly. Soon!

handbells- it takes a while for people to notice sometimes. People really aren't all that observant, and some are afraid to say anything if they do notice because they don't want to imply they thought you needed to lose weight.

Dimply- on those NSVs. It's great when there's validation of progress even though the scale is being completely worthless.

nanabell- Great job on the loss!

So for me. I'm not touching the scale. My cycle is being so bizarre lately. It came 3 or 4 days early. So I'm not even touching the scale until Friday. Especially not after it took me over 2 weeks to lose the water from the last time. Hubby is gone on business for the week, leaving me homeschooling 4 kids. So far they haven't been more beastly than usual. But the week in young.

It's hard to not be super hangry right now with TOM symptoms...I'm trying very hard to not traumatize my children.

Off to school them and drink more coffee.

We shall persevere!!!

Howdy howdy!

Jess ~your post had me giggling!!! You really have a way with words! I hope the week goes well for you I sure hate that Hangry! Yeah for losing a bit inch wise

Findingme~ I dont know if it was wonderful of him to say or not. I have conflicting opinions. His explanations did make sense in the long term though.I do want to succeed long term and stay off the roller coaster. Contest ends Jan 17 and I have to lose about 13 pounds yet. Woot woot for your loss so far this week!!! Ive never heard of the WW banking calories thing. It sure doesnt hurt to experiment though

Jenn~ I sometimes wonder if people dont notice or dont want to say anything for fear its the wrong thing to say. I love GC!!! I hope DS has a wonderful birthday!

Gail~ Your meal as usual sounds spectacular. Im sorry to hear things have been tempting. Oh my tht reminds me I totally forgot to find the cookie dough recipe! Ill do that right away.
