by the way, i started this blitz at 232.2 lbs. which was up 8.2 lbs. over my two-year low of 224 achieved in february after a stomach virus...i'm not happy to be over 230 again and it has gotten me motivated...my goal for this blitz is to get below 224 and hit a new two-year low...i would then like to get below 218 by thanksgiving, which would represent a 5-year low...

Happy Friday!! Sorry if you work the weekend, I did that for years and got so mad when people would be glad it's Friday!

An hour in to my trip the interstate is 30 mph from raining so hard you couldn't see. Which also explains why the oldest called in a panic with the water rising. He finally got a hold of the old man, who called the county sheriff and they were here in under 5 minutes. They had to be close by for the town cop from the next town over to do it. I didn't even know that little town of 500 HAD a town cop. No water in the house and the roads were clear 30 minutes later when the old man made it home. But had to pump out the crawl space again. I've warned them no showers or laundry until we see if the septic is up again!

But I made it to the funeral with 5 minutes to spare. That was a rough service, she was so loved. I stayed a few hours to visit, Mom and Dad didn't stay long, but they had about a 5+ hour drive.

Too much salt yesterday and the ankles are swelled today. I munched on the entire bag of ranch sunflower seeds, then read the sodium...190% of the daily allowance. Oops.

Not hungry at the moment, turkey and cheese for lunch, and snacks I'm sure of, it's a 9-hour day, I have nuts, beef sticks, breakfast bars at work. No idea yet for dinner, like usual that if I don't have to cook then it sounds much better!

I lied! Driving past Bob Evans and smelling biscuits made the tummy growl so breakfast was a low carb bowl from Hardee's.

Chris I was bragging about you last night to my supervisor. The one that inspired me to start the Fast Five diet. He was very impressed with your weight loss and determination.

Tony, I did keep the pound off from yesterday and now am thinking about gravy. lol

i wish y'all wouldn't struggle so to stay on plan.

it is supposed to be easy. so a brief review. I am the worst case scenario, BECAUSE I am so easily tempted. so, 1st consideration: I must love what I am eating. 2nd: I must think ahead to enable me to tweak the food within the parameters of my plan. 3rd & last consideration: the "THIS 1 TIME WON'T HURT" rationalization is a death sentence for me. end of story. Enjoy day 17 of summer. 73 more to go. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

congrats, abs!...you're well on your way!

chris, sounds a bit harrowing...luckily, we have never experienced a real natural disaster around here...there was a hundred year flood in western nh and vermont a few years ago, which is quite a distance from us, but for the most part, new england seems relatively free of extreme, damaging weather...not sure why...

ff, you are da man...thanks for setting such a great example!

had a good workout at the gym yesterday...nothing is too sore today, so i consider that a victory! :-)

today is our 33rd anniversary...we dated for less than 6 months before we got pregnant, so we have lasted quite a bit longer than predicted! haha

greetings, HEWMONS!!!

and HAPPY 33RD to Mrs & Mr. TONY. I hope we will ALL be around for the big 50. I am doing something quite out of character today. Instead of going out early, as I ALWAYS do, I am going out AFTER the afternoon opera. as soon as the last note of Carmen hits the airwaves, I will be dressed and ready to go, fortified by a large iced coffee. Every now and then, it is good to do something different, just to shake things up a bit. one of the things I need to get is a birthday card for my sis-in-law. her birthday is Julius Caesar's birthday, the 4th day before the Ides of Quintilis (July 12). It was not called July at the time he was born. My arrival on earth was the same day that RICHARD WAGNER died-Feb 13, quite a number of years earlier though. Anyway, on July 12, I will enjoy a grilled chicken Caesar salad (no croutons ). who here has birthdays on historic occasions? well, enjoy summer day 18, y'all! btw, if anyone is curious, the opera can be enjoyed on wqxr.org (105.9 fm locally)at 1:00 pm EDT. Love & Profits:

thanks for the well-wishes kids!...

abs, we started "something," but i wouldn't call it a dynasty!...haha...

actually, we had a nice, low-key day yesterday...ran some errands, saw a movie (the hero - enjoyed it)...after the movie, we walked next door and hung out at the bar at "not your average joe's" and had a couple of drinks and an app...we met a nice younger couple and chatted with them for awhile...i told the bartender that sue and i had just met at the movies and she didn't know whether to believe me or not...then i asked her if we really looked like two people who would go to a movie alone on a friday afternoon and then randomly hook up afterward?...haha...i had her so confused, but she was a good sport...about an hour later, i told her it was our two-hour anniversary and then told her the truth...the restaurant insisted on paying for our app and dessert, but we did not get the dessert...fun time...

when our youngest boy got out of work, we had him meet us for dinner - we let him pick the place and he chose fuddruckers for a burger, so that's what we had...

i have had 3 better days in a row on the eating front...it's funny how the most important part for me is completing that first good day...

tomorrow, some of the kids and all of the babies will be here...one of emmy's friends just graduated from veterinary school in ireland and will be visiting emmy for a couple of days...this girl has always called us "mom and dad" and requested that they come here for the day and i grill her some steak tips...so that should be fun...the weather is supposed to be nice..

what's everyone else up to?

I know off hand Richard I was crowned and sometimes Labor Day is on my birthday, not this year. And I'm pretty sure quite a few European countries declared war on Germany starting WWII. I'd have to look that one up.

Today's plan is grocery shopping, and a new cell phone, this one works when it wants, sends texts 6 days later, it's time!

No clue on food, hence needing to shop. Enjoying coffee and the cooler weather at the moment.

Have a great day!

Food for the week is Mississippi pot roast in the slow cooker with asparagus, mashed taters for the herd. Chinese. Homemade pizza, lc crust for me of course. Breakfast. My lunch for work will be leftovers of the previous dinner.

Thanks Vicki, I have tough moments, especially eating out. If I'd just stop looking at the menu and reading everything, steak is always there!

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!

just now, I went to the freezer, to get my plastic bottle of ice water, and guess what I found!!! the remains of Jimmy Hoffa? no. a type 3 phaser set to stun? no. it was a couple of GODIVA chocolate bars, I had purchased at Barnes & Noble, during one of my many undisciplined periods!!! see, I told you I was easily subject to temptation!!! what did I do about it??? NOTHING !!! a friend is coming over to do my floors. he will get them, if he wants them. he has no weight problem, and a few bonus calories he will easy burn off. besides, who would turn down a GODIVA chocolate bar? the OLD FF would have rationalized, and eaten them. then he would be apostosizing for months. not this time. Yesterday, I went out AFTER the opera, got what I needed, and came home, totally shaggers. I sat in my easy chair(although how easy could it be for the chair with me sitting on it?)for quite nearly 4 hours, listening to my classical radio, with my new fan bathing me with a cool airflow. I reminded myself of VENICE-LA SERENISSIMA. when I finally did make it to bed, I caught a few episodes of THE HONEYMOONERS. Then, I enjoyed the most blissful 4 hours of sleep I have had since I retired. oh, to answer the iced coffee question, I make a mean cup of joe(well, I think I do!). but this iced coffee, came from the diner along with my breadless sandwiches. but, whether theirs or mine, it consists of ice, coffee, and a drop of cream. very refreshing!!! HEWMONS, y'all enjoy summer day 19. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Tony, sear your roast, slap it in the crock pot, sprinkle with a pack of dry ranch and a pack of dry au jus, put a stick of butter on top, add 6 or so pepperonichi things, low for 8-ish hours. Makes its own gravy so make some mashed cauliflower.

Vicki, as Tony said I kept the one pound off on my Friday weigh in.

I just listened to a great podcast on the Chalene Show with Dr. Bert Herring who wrote the Fast Five book. It really reinforced why fasting for 19 hours and then eating in 5 makes sense to me.

I seriously don't think I could fast for 19 hours, unless I could sleep for 18 of it

I shredded the roast, stuck it back in the pot, and added more pepperonichi things, some juice from the jar too. Wishing I had buns!!

LOL Chris. Fortunately I sleep for about 5 hours, get ready for work and make the drive for 2 more then work for 8 more, then drive home. So that uses up 15 right there. I only have to white knuckle it for 4 more. So it's not too bad.

let us all give a Bronx cheer for technology!!!

when I fell asleep last night, July 9, 2017, I was still FF. However, when I woke up this morning, I was Rip Van Winkle, or so my cell phone says-April 21, 2037. So, either I aged 20 years, or something happened to my cell phone. I am still clean shaven, so it must be the phone. Fortunately, the phone store is on the same block as the bank, so I can kill 2 pterodactyls with 1 stone. I also decided to enhance my Caesar salad experience with 12 oz of Michelob Ultra.(2.6 gr of carb per 12 oz.) It is not possible to buy 1 12 oz bottle at the supermarket...ERGO, I will offer the remaining 13 oz as a sacrificial offering to the divine Julius, who fought Germans in addition to the Celts (Gauls). As I do not wish to add 2.6 gr to Wednesday's carb total, I will divide the Caesar salad into 2 portions, just as all of Gaul is divided into 3 parts(Gallia omnis in tres partes divisa est). the 2nd portion will be consumed on Thursday. well, nothing else to do at this juncture, except to wish my HEWMON Blitzers a happy summer day 20. ff, congrats on giving away the Godiva bars. And, Too funny Rip Van Winkle LOL I have yet to acquire a taste for cold coffee. Maybe I will give it a try again. Sounds simple.

Chris, you are due for a new phone. Selecting a new phone is like shopping for a bra or purse as far as I am concerned. I ordered one over the weekend through the Verizon site and chatted with a customer rep for input. I am upgrading from LGG3 to LGG6. I should get it today.

Abs, I missed your weigh in and maintenance of the 1 lb loss. Congrats.

Tony and others stay cool.

I will update my stats over in the box. I had a 4.8 lb loss this week. YEA. I wasn't perfect on a couple of days including yesterday, but, it is better than it used to be by far.

Yesterday we went to a AAA baseball game and we purchased the family 4 pack which included reserved grandstand ticket, piece of pizza, drink and baseball cap. I ate the piece of pizza but that was all along with 2 waters. My carb count for yesterday was around 100g, but that is a rare occurrence.

I have been tracking this week and have been ranging between 1300-1700 calories and 30-104 net carbs. I can do better. As I tallied up the fiber grams from the tracking app, I am really not getting that much fiber intake. Mostly under 15-18g. I will add psyllium husk powder to that to increase the fiber intake.

Carpet is being installed today on the 3-4 season porch and then, our unintended 3 season porch remodel will be done! This house project initially began with replacing the front entry door for a more energy efficient one along with replacement of old siding in preparation of repainting the house. The lower 2-3 tiers of siding was going to be replaced on 3 sides of the house, our front is brick. Well, when the first couple of boards were removed on the back of the house, there was carpenter ant damage from wet wood which meant tearing out and replacing what was wet and what was causing the leakage. Essentially, all of the windows, the door and the whole thing needed redone except the roof/ceiling. You know how projects go, there aren't what they appear.

This has gone on since Mid May and we are ready to be done and take a breather.

Oh my gosh FF, what a blast from the past. I think that was my first Latin lesson freshman year! Or was it agricola, agricolae: masculine farmer. lol

Enjoy your Caesar salad and your 2.6 carb gram Michelob Ultra on the 20th day of summer!

the salad and the beer will happen on Wed,

which is summer day 22. this evening, I am having broiled salmon, with my obligatory noodle free chicken soup and roasted broccoli in garlic. the broc is my sole carbs for the day. I get a double dose because I do not take the potato. of course, fish is not filling for me, unless I consume about 3 lbs worth. to supplement the aforementioned, I am ordering 2 bunless cheddar cheese bacon burgers with a sunny side up egg atop each. although, on the whole, my appetite is diminished in the hot weather, some days it is not. 1st, I will consume the soup and burgers. if that is enough (and I pray it will be), then the rest goes into the fridge for tomorrow. I didn't have such a good day with the food yesterday. I binged on pnut butter, graham crax and bananas. There was a fiasco with the carpet installation. Original contractor hurt his back, so an alternate was scheduled. The business did not contact us about a change in time. The actual installer told me that the crack that was in the concrete would be filled with the glue and no floor prep was done of which we paid for. After the install, there is an air pocket where the crack is and the installer told us that it shows, which it does.

I went to the business and talked with someone, not the sales person who was on a job, but another sales person who was in on the conversation about floor prep. Anyways, my sales person called and said she talked to the installer who claimed he told me he could fill the crack for $150-$200 and that I refused the offer. He never talked to me about that. The sales person said it is his word against mine. Now, not sure what to do. We will wait a day or two to see if the air pocket evens out since I was told that gases form while the glue is curing and should even out. ARGH

Hence, I was stressed and ate

Dang Vicki, who can blame you!

I got kicked out of the cell phone store last evening! I've been with that carrier since the days of car phones with huge battery bags, remember those! I started out my usual friendly, please and thank you, until the lady did a 180 and was completely rude. Then the bi*** came out in me. I didn't get loud or use profanity, sarcasm came out. They asked that I leave but I felt good when I heard "you go girl" as I went out the door. So my new cell with a new carrier will be in Friday, same gig amount per month for $15 less, brand new free phone. Plus I'll bundle my satellite and save even more. Plus they have a new contraption for wi-fi that I want!

I just used the little girls room here at work, luckily only #1, the toilet wouldn't flush. BOTH toilets in there don't work now. I'm not going up to the third floor to pee, I'll just use the men's room. The front elevator doesn't work. The air conditioning doesn't work. The elevator in the parking garage doesn't work, but that's ok, I walk the way the cars go, especially since the stairwell is too stinky!!

Breakfast was bacon, plus a slice of pepperoni that I packed with lunch. Lunch also consists of ham, last of the bacon, and cheese. Dinner will be pizza, I think, unless I change my mind.

Not much else going on, just making a list of what the herd needs for their Florida trip next week.

delicious pork chops, last night.

they each sported a slice of mozzarella cheese. just what they needed. pork, as u know, is breeded very low fat, as if fat was something bad. the chicken broth was very good. I told them...NO NOODLES. so, of course, it was filled with noodles. I got about 3 tspns of broth all together. I will add the salad to tonight's Caesar salad. I will most coitanly enjoy the ice cold Mich ultra tonight. I am most certainly enjoying the ATKINS '72 for the summer. I hope it will pay off on the tape measure. it takes a 100 lb weight loss to show 2 inches off my keester. Well, Happy Birthday, Bruni(my terran sis-in-law), and Happy MMCXVII Birthday to Julius. today and tomorrow will put my new fan to the test, to be sure. too hot to buy a bag of ice, it will melt before it gets home. I will put all my non-glass beveridges into the freezer, instead. incidentally, diet peach and diet raspberry Snapple is 1 gr carb per bottle each. diet lemon is zero. guess which one I am drinking? the grams add up quickly esp since I drink several daily. so, enjoy summer day XXII, y'all. stay cool, and keep hydrated. G'Morning Y'all! And yes I do say y'all and yuns quite a bit.

Today marks one year of this latest round of Atkins, all attempts before have been interrupted with pregnancy or auto wrecks. 106 pounds! I'm pretty happy with that. I seriously need to invest in a good girdle!

Today's food, leftover sausage that I didn't use in last evenings family meal. Lunch is ham and cheese again, so I'm sure to need a snack of Brazil nuts. Dinner is Chinese, just the mixed veggies from the can, 1 carb per serving. The family will have the stir fry, orange chicken, and egg rolls. Or is it tangerine chicken? Pretty much the same thing. (Unless you're Sheldon from Big Bang Theory! )

The elevator in the parking garage is still out of order, so I get a little exercise in at the end of the day. I even took the stairs up here at work this morning, just 1 floor, but it's a start.

My cell quit again in the night, I use it for my alarm, why I just don't buy a new alarm clock is beyond me. But my new cell comes Friday! And I was only a few minutes late getting up. And my job is so cool with hours, as long as I get 40 in a week, they don't care what time I come and go.

Have good one!

the price of clocks HAS gone up at an ALARMING rate!

the weather here has caused me to cancel my beer plans. I will not leave my apartment until Friday. Another Caesar will be having a birthday on Sept 23-Caesar Augustus. i am hoping i will catch a weather break then. I AM ordering the grilled chicken Caesar salad this evening. and BECAUSE i want a thin slice of tomato and onion on my 2 bacon cheddar burgers, with a sunny side up egg atop each one, i will still eat 1/2 of the salad today, and the other 1/2 tomorrow. also, they owe me a $3.50 credit as a consequence of the AWOL OINKETTES from 2 days ago. so, the plan is to drink ice cold zero carb beveridges all day long, today and tomorrow. frankly, i am totally dysfunctional, owing to the heat and humidity. i have not yet ordered anything with my pre-paid card. the weather saps all my energy, physical and mental. well, Love & Profits: FLAT(OVA & OUT)FERENGHI
