HOT HOT HOT!!!

may the gods see me safely through the next 24 hours. I hope I will be able to get some good sack time during the worst part of the day. in my neck of the woods, the eclipse was not very dramatic. I did get a good moon burn, though(ha ha ha). I still have not been to SHOPRITE. when the temp drops to 80 and below, Iwill go. I have no energy even with all the vitamins I take. for once, the diner got it perfect. the salmon was broiled to perfection. it seemed like a larger portion than before (although it was not). the standard portion was 8 oz, yet it was enough! with that I had SOME green beans roasted in butter and garlic. I think veggies are becoming the new pistachio ice cream! Happy summer day#63! keep cool, and hydrated, HEWMONS. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Hot in the office, no a/c, but at least it doesn't smell like a skunk again today. That was nasty.

Tony, I only have 1, for now, it's the rest of the house that each has one of everything. Ok, maybe not THAT many, but it seems like it. My dad even gave the kids 2 that his dad gave him. That was pretty cool, and the .30-30 has a heck of a kick!

Sausage for breakfast. Last of the roast for lunch. It's Fend For Yourself Tuesday season, the old man's bowling has started, so I may be nice and hit a burger joint for the kids. I'll have a salad when I get home.

Stay cool mes amis.

Had my brother and sil from Georgia for coffee today along with dh and my two sisters. They head back south right after labor day.

Looking forward to no overtime the next two weeks plus one holiday.

Still fasting for 12 to 21 hours a day. Still hovering at 10 pounds down. Not being strict enough with the low crab I know.

Artemis, were you doing research on auto immune diseases like Parkinsons?

Ff, so sorry you are having to suffer from the heat and humidity today.

Tony, thanks for the good wishes for hubby. The family did tell him how good he looked which cheered him up some.

long day of mediations...got home about an hour ago...

chris, my exposure to guns is somewhat limited...i did have a bb gun as a kid that i loved...other than that, shot a 12-gauge at a toy truck at age 12 and got knocked in the shoulder pretty good and shot a .44 magnum into a tree in college after watching "dirty harry"

abs, so happy you will have a few normal weekends!...and a holiday as well! happy hubby's spirits improved a bit...good luck on thursday...

ff, it was HOT today...before the a/c could cool off my office this morning, i was sweating through my shirt!

The a/c hasn't worked all summer, which makes sense since the heating system didn't work most of the winter! And only on the 2nd floor of the addition, where I'm at.

one thing is for certain.

next summer I will get an a.c. my neighbor down below on the 5th floor has the same apartment as me, except 2 floors below. her electric bill averages $200.00 a month during the a.c part of the year. THAT is the challenge. it is cooler today, and I am hungry. after LMAD, I am ordering my chicken soup, and 4 (yes, I said FOUR mozzarella cheese burgers with a little marinara sauce ON THE SIDE. Happy summer day #64, y'all! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Chris - that must be spreading around because we were out of AC for the first two hours today too! Luckily they got it fixed because August in Memphis is a nightmare!!

Abi - yes, I specialized in neurology and immunology. Still in the research realm but I have to review a big variety of things now. I miss being so specialized but hopefully, I can go back to it soon.

Question for everyone: How does one become a carnivore!? If I could figure that out, it would make low carbing much easier for me!

I can't believe it, they rerouted the blowing system at work since it's always ice cold on the first floor, it was better yesterday.

No clue on becoming a carnivore, I've never had that problem

I freaked out at the dentist yesterday. I feel like an idiot. I was there to get one little cavity filled. They shot me up to numb it, but replaced the cap that fell off another one first. The more the face got numb, the more I panicked. I seriously think they gave me too much. When I couldn't feel half my nose, that's when I said forget it. I managed not to go bat sh** crazy right then, but had a good cry when I got home. And in the 10 minutes it took to get home, the right eye got blurry. What the crap! I managed to reschedule it just cause I felt bad, but seriously doubt if I go. They also said call a few days before if I think I'll need a script for a chill pill. I've never had issues like that.

Food today, I'm thinking sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese at work. I actually have leftover bacon, I never knew such a thing existed! Salad for dinner. I'm not really hungry so will probably skip breakfast.

It's almost Friday!

And FF, gas lines don't run out where we are, so we're all electric, $300 monthly, and that's budgeted. I'd hate to see the actual price for the winter months, I can't remember.

Artemis, are you a vegetarian now and want to start eating meat or are you wanting to become a zero carb eating just meat?

artemis, i'm guessing you are a vegetarian...if so, how long ago did you stop eating meat?...i think it's as hard for many non-vegetarians to imagine not eating meat as it is for some vegetarians to imagine eating it...i understand both sides, but have always liked meat...i think you probably have to ease into it as your body may need to adjust to digesting it...maybe start with fish and chicken...

ff, you need a/c brother...if it was cooler in that apt. you could cook and would have both cool temps and great food!

abs, how did hubby make out today?...i was thinking about you guys...

chris, that definitely sounds like too much novacaine...good for you for not totally freaking out!

Tony, he learned he will have to go for radiation every day for 5 weeks. Fortunately he can go to Keene. They say the cure rate is only 18 to 20%. Surgeon is still not concerned with the swelling under his eye. He needs to massage area and put cold compresses on it. Thanks for thinking of him yesterday.

If I eat my favorite foods and what I naturally gravitate towards I can go a loooong time without eating meat. It's not that I don't like it, I just don't crave it or think about it and definitely cannot eat in huge quantities. Which is not exactly good for me since I'm anemic a lot. I once went 8 months as a vegetarian by accident...yes by accident! I once realized, hey I haven't had meat in a while...then I thought about it and it was at a family BBQ 8 months prior. When I try to cut back carbs I make a huge effort to eat more protein to help stay full and to try to prevent eating things that I shouldn't. But it's tough for me to eat that much meat so I typically end up replacing a lot of it with shakes and meal replacement bars. I did do vegetarian low carb once for a few weeks and was very successful but the problem was limited variety and the portion sizes for veggies was so small I was constantly hungry.

And Chris, yes bacon! Everyone loves bacon, even vegetarians!

Artemis, I like recipes that have a mixture of meat, cheese, and vegetables like Linda Sue's spinach lasagna.

Oooo that looks good! I love new recipes, thanks Abigale! I'm making a squash casserole right now. Just have to pull it out of the oven.

I've been able to get tons done today. I also did zumba for the first time in a while. It was hard for me to keep up. Gonna feel that tomorrow!!

Hope you've all had a great Saturday!

Chris, great minds think alike! Smithfield is my favorite bacon. What a fantastic deal!

Artemis, glad you liked the looks of that recipe. Zumba looks like so much fun. Hope you are not too sore today.

FF, another lovely cool day ahead. Hope you enjoy it. My cousin in Palm Springs posted the highs for the week - all above 100

Tony, we hope to get back to the Flamingo Diner today. It has been several weeks. First power out, then closed for vacation and we don't know why last Sunday?

Got up early this morning so that I could work out before meeting up with my friends. I did a beginner's cardio video today because I need to start working some free weights back into my routine. It was super tough and I didn't know if I could make it. I had to modify it and slow the moves down quite a lot to finish it, but I didn't stop.

We went out to brunch and then shopping in the mall. I always struggle with eating out because all the things I would love to eat are so off limits. I ordered an omelette which I thought was a safe option, but it came with potatoes and toast which I didn't know when I ordered. I ate some of the potatoes but left the toast. There was also a huge basket of bread on the table which I didn't touch. I am feeling the need to exercise again, but I have work to do to prepare for a presentation I have week after next.

Work out, what's that?

Busy day so far, had to run to the head office. That will be my new Monday and Friday morning routine for a while. $35 mileage each time, I'll do it.

A case manager was just in my office, had a HUGE bug in her hair. I call it a stink bug, they smell freaking awful when you squash them. They're prehistoric looking and move slow. I did my best not to freak the h*** out

Food was a huge beef stick for breakfast, lunch was ham, cheese, pork rinds. Dinner will be the lasagna I was going to fix, or roast a chicken.

And believe it or not, it's cold in the office!!

My workouts from the weekend caught up with me today. I'm so sore, that I can barely sit, stand, or lay down. The only thing one can do during these times is drink lots of water and continue to exercise to work it out. Why did I let myself get out of shape again!?!?

De-lurking to say this thread has been such a helpful read for me as I got back into low carb this summer, but where is flatferenghi lately? Getting worried about him!
