Bloodhound, "I was thinking the same thing, but will TRY not to celebrate with you when it happens, even though I think it's worth celebrating, fast or no fast"
I TOTALLY AGREE!!

And fasting losses DO include some water loss, yes.

But they leave you changed in other ways that are hard to quantify.

And you really don't lose much muscle, contrary to the established orthodoxy. Our body's design is far more sophisticated than that! To lose a Bunch 'O' Muscle everytime we go a fastin' doesn't even make sense, considering we have these Perfectly designed energy storage systems already in place. Consuming Muscle Tissue to keep the brain humming along and avoid prematurely assuming room temperature....well....that's simply the back up plan to the back up plan.

You will bounce, but How big a bounce you'll have is largely in YOUR hands, Lylotte.

Hang tough.

Hi, All.
Today is 2nd day of fasting.Getting ready to go to gym and sauna and steam room and some weights.
I'm starting to hear from others that fasting is bad very bad for body and so on.and should not do.So Not telling any one. Except here.
I heard today about age and doing exerscing and loseing weight. To much bad. I feel great and must say healthy. I know this time around to watch water and drink. I think that was down fall in not making day 4 of fast.
And see about home made broth if i go 5 days. we will see day 4 will be happy day for me.

I'm fading. I drove the kids to school this morning, I just had no will to walk. Then after school I walked and I was so winded on the way there. On the way back I just wanted to stop and give up. I'll be having some broth as soon as I'm done helping kids with homework and see if it helps. I'm annoyed, I clearly have enough fat for weeks but meh. I don't know anymore. Body rebelling a bit. There, I feel better for having said it. I'm sure broth and an early bedtime will help and I'll be fine tomorrow. Thanks for reading

Lyotte,
I'm on day 2{Trying again to reach 4 days But I did make full 3 but my body shut down right on 4th day.
Feel good, better then last week,so might be able to hit day 4
I went and got turkery bone broth. Made sure healthy. For 1 c*.35 cals.
Now maybe you or Stan can answer. Will having 1 cup broth or 2 break the fast?
If it does then maybe better to wait after 4 days to have?
I guess I should see in Dr. Fungs book if Broth is ok during fast. I don't want to stop.
You are doing really great.
Just wondering about broth and cals. Since you are doing has it hurt on losseing?

Kind broth is okay, good way to get salt in you, also breaks the monotony of the taste of spit and tongue in your month. Lol

I agree with Charlotte. Broth is okay on my fasts anyway.

I don't do it unless I feel I need it though. I buy some bouillon cubes that I think are called NOT CHICK-N CUBES or something like that. It has some salt in it and tastes good. Maybe Netrition.com has them, but I don't remember where I got them.

My eating disorder has reared it's ugly head again.

WHYYYYYYY do I keep doing this to myself??

And here's what's worse. My KIDS are doing the same thing! I'm a HORRIBLE influence!

Duct-tape diet. . . That's what I need.

Happy (oxymoron) Monday.

I get it. Just keep getting back on that horse girlfriend!

Second day of school...super super tired.
GREAT kids...GREAT subject (Math rocks!)
I soooo wanted to be in ketosis when beginning school this year and I WAS until Harvey decided to become Harvey. I am so very blessed that my and mine is okay so I can't complain.
Low-carbing all day until dinner so far this week. I've been able to resist the junk that always is around school. I feel pretty good about that.
I'm so happy to be back to working with my kids. I love my job.
I'm also walking with DH and the dog in the evenings. Not much aerobic...just a stroll mostly and stops as the dog sniffs and pees but its a start.

PS: Just got a Remind text from my principal "donuts in the coffee room tomorrow morning"

Bone broth right? Like made from bone marrow is what I heard is that very best. There is a recipe I might have if someone wants it.

I have a simple recipe too, I start with a ready cooked chicken from the grocery store (just check to make sure they're not coating it with sugar!)

Strip all the meat off (that usually takes a couple days)

Toss the bones, an onion, couple pieces of celery, bunches of herbs; salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, sage........whatever you like, into the crockpot and cook on low overnight. Strain out the veggies and bits of meat (my dog loves this) and you're good to go.

Glad to hear school is starting well, bring some keto snacks and plan your lunch!!!! so you can resist the dang doughnuts.

I finally wedged out some time that I could go pick up the home gym. Walmart had it at a great "rollback" price, but I had to go pick it up 30 miles away.

Which was fine, of course I was worried it wouldn't fit in my car but I figured if worst came to worst I'd cut open the box and move parts around until it fit, BUT it fit in the car fine and I brought it home. Unfortunately I didn't have two young Walmart boys to unload it and bring it inside........so out came the trusty razor knife.

97 trips later........ all the parts are inside and I'm calling that my first workout!
I bought and assembled one of these things many years ago, so I'm sure I'll figure it out, but it's a project for next weekend for sure.

Michael, you're a better man than I , this whole purchasing the gym thing was inspired by my 3rd? grade music teacher. She was fat. And then she'd conduct. In a sleeveless dress. And all I could see was her underarms swaying....swaying........swaying back and forth. And I remember saying to myself, I'll NEVER let that happen to me.

Welllllll......... I may torture you all with a selfie of my flabby underarms, or not, but I AM going to take a selfie, and record my progress. Because I looked in the mirror whilst combing my hair and OMG, I had the same dang flabby underarms. Because just losing weight is not gonna tone those batwings up!

So here I doth proclaim: Gonna work out!! (right after I get the dang thing put together)

I second that idea! "bring some Keto Snacks, so you can resist...." I used to be a teacher and the lounge is a problem.

Angela, on my particular browser and computer set up, I bring up the MEANINGLESS attachment icon (a paper clip) and the manage attachment window appears, which I can actually read, since it uses WORDS instead of meaningless icons, designed by 20-something, self assured computer weenies that earn 6 figures.

Idiots.

Then, I drag and drop my file name into the "BROWSE" button and click "upload". You may have to just BROWSE to the file, depending on your platform and your particular browser.

The way I do it works, but it's kind of a pain to be honest. It seems pretty wonky to me. Michael found some workaround I think. Maybe he'll weigh in on this, if his fingertips aren't still bleeding from practicing his Gee Tar.

Probably a must watch video for fasters

https://youtu.be/v9Aw0P7GjHE

19:00 Jason addresses loose skin from weight loss, but I'm not convinced.

However the whole 69 minutes is,worth watching.watching

This is supposed to be FAT FORUM, not a Blood Pressure Forum.

But my weigh-in was pretty disappointing and my BP numbers are GREAT!!

I'm actually up a tenth of a rotten pound from yesterday, in case you needed to know. You do the math.

I ate too late, but did fine on my plan. Actually, since there was a Beautiful, Freshly Smoked Salmon Steak staring The Queen and I right in the face at 7PM, and yet I only ate 235 grams, I should feel pretty danged good!

So.

Have a Happy Leftover Salmon Day Everyone!!!

Humpday just sounded too crude.

Yes Laura, that absolutely IS a win!

There's a write-up in the FAQ on how to do this: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/fa...b3_attachments

What they don't tell you is that you need to have 25 posts and be a member for 25 days before you're allowed to attach images. I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, but I'm still waiting on day 25!

So sorry for your loss. Anniversaries of losing loved ones are tough enough, and then dealing with a funeral at the same time has to be overwhelming.

Are you still on the medication? I'm still taking 20mg of lisinopril. I desperately want to be rid of it, but my mother who probably weights 110 pounds soaking wet is on BP medication, so there is probably a genetic component to mine being high.

I've been tracking it pretty closely. I try to get two measurements a day. I'm not sure I'm seeing any trends at this point.

Michael, although it irks me to say it, you are doing great! (You pathetic, one chord wonder, you.....)

Thank you Sammi! What a sweet bunch of folks around here! I'll never forget what this place has meant to me. I'm rarely that serious, but that's how I feel.

<RANT ALERT!>

So. The Before Picture.

Kind of embarrassing that I ever let my life degrade to that point, but now I'm glad I have that shot in my archive.

And the NOW Picture (I refuse to call in an "after" picture) totally doesn't do justice to how good I feel. I'm absolutely changed in my entire outlook on life. Almost every day, from Morning until Mid-Day sometime, there is a spring in my step, where before I could hardly drag my sorry a** from the backshop to the customer area.

It makes me sad to see obese, miserable people walking around, well on their way to depriving their loved ones of the blessings of their presence WAAAAY "before their appointed time".

And dammit, I have The Answer to their problem, and am POWERLESS to do anything about it. If someone walked up to you and said, "I have the answer to your problems," wouldn't you listen?!?!?!?

Well....they won't. And I prolly wouldn't have either. There is little on this planet as useless as advice that isn't earnestly sought.

It's Utterly Frustrating.

Laura, this incessant ranting of mine is all your fault, wink wink.

See, YOU and what's-his-face with the sore left fingertips have got me missing my Mom. She'd likely still be around if it weren't for obesity. She'd have been 87. Lots of thin people make it that far.

I intend to be thin when I clock out....and not anytime sooner than necessary.

Maybe I can get by with 4 pallbearers, and save The Queen a few bucks.

<end rant>

Stan, how about THIS for frustration? I posted this to facebook ONE YEAR AGO TODAY. The after pic is me 15 lbs lighter than I am today.

That's an eye opener.

And NO. Nobody will listen because FOOD is just as much an addiction as HEROINE. You can't MAKE somebody quit. They have to do it for themselves.

I need to get back into my skinny jeans from last year.

THIS!

I wrote something on my insta some time ago about sugar/carbs being akin to alcohol. If you told an alcoholic to cut out booze his most likely reaction would be "I CAN'T."

Tell the average person to not eat bread, pasta, potatoes & sugar and they would most likely also say "I CAN'T."

Now ... both are lies really. They both can - they just don't want to. And there is also a physical addiction with both as well.

I try not to ketoevangelize ... in fact, I really don't talk about it unless someone asks. Or if I want to shock someone. (I did that to the kid making my iced coffee at Starbucks the other day .... telling people I've lost 120 pounds in 8 months by just cutting carbs and watching their faces is one of my favorite activities. It's kinda awesome.)

Also ... here's one of my recent before & durings ...
