I am excited for you all to take a nice vacation! I am fairly jealous, I'll tell you.
It sounds wonderful up there. I've had another friend who had a vacation home on Mackinac Island and was vaguely aware of the "no cars." Sounds divine.

Oh dear - sad for your friend Barb.
That seems so harsh - blood sugars too high, lose the ability to walk.
I'm surprised we don't hear that more often.
We sure hear about blindness and amputations.

Enjoy those peaches!
I'm back on the low carb, low cal wagon. I have a sorority reunion on the 22nd of this month. I am thinking lower fat protein, and more protein to stay satisfied.
And of course, my beloved fasting most days.

Judy,

Wow! A house would be amazing up there. Gary has to bring a jacket and tie for dinner. I can wear dresses or skirt-blouse. I have easy stuff I'm excited because of the weather. Cool in the 70-80s.

Lol we made it to Porter. Bought a bushel of peaches! I told Dh that we were going to freeze a bunch and he would be my helper. I think I'll try to make a lowcarb fresh peach pie like the strawberry one, but will have to let the peaches drain and use some of the juice for the
Water.

I was 159...not great. But back on my upped hormones.

Really low fat/protein is a good way to drop weight. Lean for Life is all about that. I got down to 128 on that plan. Basically small amounts of protein throughout the day.

Going to meet the kids at Charlestons tonight.

Have you decided where to get Bowes insulin?

We are starting with Walmart and maybe Costco. It depends on how long he can stay out of the donut hole. I think we won't know until we know!

I bet you will be in peach heaven...we still have a couple of those peaches. They are divine!

The donut hole is very dangerously expensive.

Well, I do think the kids might be thinking of moving when Brett's lease is up in Dec. Too much stuff in one little place. But they seem happy as clams.

I gave them a bunch of peaches. She seemed pleased.

Your vacation sounds fantastic Carolyn!! I've always wanted to go up that way, although I don't think I'd enjoy the dressing up part. I'm more of a laid back, casual type person.
I just keep thinking how cute Brett and Sarah are as a newlywed couple. And how they have a whole lifetime of love and marriage to enjoy. If they move, will it be in that same area? If they already have baby names picked out maybe they want kids right away?

We're heading into town today for dinner theater, birthday lunches with my dad and oldest DGD, Bailey's grooming and an update on our new home. Plus breakfast with some of our taco night friends. We'll spend the night with our DD tonight and then come back to our little home at the lake tomorrow. We're starting to think we really could live in our RV full time, lol.

Judy, your family sounds like such a fun family to be a part of! And hearing of your time with the littles reminds me of when my grands were all little. We enjoyed them so much! Time flies!! Enjoy it all as much as you can, they grow up before you know it!

I love that dinner theater thing..I need to plan ahead sometime and go there again..Have fun.

Well, I mentioned to Brett that they might look at a 2 bedroom in their complex just to see
what it is like..He mentioned that they are thinking of getting a house..Makes sense to me, too. We helped B and B with their deposit, so will help them.

Funny story: Sarah said that she thought something was wrong with the stove/oven because the left back burner kept smoking up when the oven was on. They called the maintenance man. Well, I opened the oven and on the back lefthand side there was a big
grease spot about 10 inches wide and across..Problem solved..I mentioned that she might
get some Easy Off Oven Cleaner and get that spot taken care of so it didn't smoke up their
apartment. Or Brett could do it..LOL.. Sweet Sarah..

I don't know about the kids right away..I think they want to pay off her student loans first..so she might be able to be a stay at home mom..(yeah).

I just love how reasonable they are at this point. I guess they're not so darn young that they are being foolish. They sound like they're making every smart decision. I love the story about the grease spot!

Sandy, I hear you. I can already see how quickly this is going to go. I plan to soak it up as best I can!

You know..I was surprised that she didn't think of that, but her mom always cleaned the oven, so who would know? We all learn slowly..She is making a peach pie for Sunday dinner with the folks..I told her to take the peaches out of the fridge and let them ripen a bit. Just call me Suzie Homemaker..LOL.

Time does fly with kids, doesn't it? Once they get into school, it's zoom, zoom, zoom. I think Buffy's grandson is going to college this fall..

I have to admit, every time we go to the lake and I put something on the back burner, I am surprised it gets smoky at first. I think our family cooks more than anyone else - always has. If they cook, I'm sure grease gets on the burners back there. It gets cleaned off the rest of the stove top, but goes unnoticed on the burner, so there it is.

Love that Sarah will make a peach pie for her parents. (I'm kind of thinking of crashing their dinner party for peach pie!! LOL)

I love families that cook..My mom always cooked with 4 kids..Sunday night we would go out for hamburgers. I mentioned that she might do a peach crumb pie..She might buy a shell, though.

Judy...Do you think I could make a fresh peach pie like the strawberry one? I got a bunch of SF peach jellos from Amazon. It seems as though peaches are wetter than berries..Maybe I'll sprinkle them with Splenda and see if they drain and then use that peach juice and
some water to make the thickening..

I think if you don't try to make the peach pie like the strawberry pie, you'll always wonder. I can't imagine that even if it weren't the firmest pie, it wouldn't still be delicious. Now that you say that, I have two Porter peaches left. I may try it also.

I made a low carb peach cobbler for Friday. I will freeze it..

That gal that wanted me to pay her way tomorrow left a message that she could come up with $5, could I pay the other $4? I am ignoring the calls.

Well, it called for 1 Tbs of maple syrup. I might have used 1/3 of a cup of swerve

Boy, those peaches ripen fast on the counter....

Well, Connie has to get her 16 page document done soon as he is going into private pay next week.. she puts off stuff like that all the time. Grumble..
Gary offered to help this weekend.

I'm a procrastinator.
Sometimes we procrastinators need to feel the pain of our procrastination before we get on top of things.
It's hard to watch, I know.
I don't procrastinate on everything, just select things.
I don't have unpaid bills or an empty gas tank or unanswered emails or unanswered phone calls.

But when it came time to research Medicare plans, I was slow. DH sure wasn't going to do it, so we've done what we think is okay until we learn otherwise. LOL

DH and I have neither one had a colonoscopy.
DH just spoke to his youngest brother today (my age). He had a colonoscopy with 2 precancerous polyps. Guess who made his own colonoscopy appointment today?
I changed my primary care doctor just to get the gastro I want for mine.
Nothing feels wrong so I haven't made that appointment yet.
I will.

Have sorority reunion in Stillwater next weekend, then DH's 65th the following weekend and am covered up with work. I wish I were born rich!

Colonscopy advice... don't eat much the days before. Plus buy some densitin in case of soreness after you begin "going" . TMI

Connie got her hard paperwork in. Just a few other things to send in so she doesn't need Gary's help

I'm sure the colonscopy will go well. Gary always had polyps, but not me so far.

The girls liked the peach cobbler. I froze it and reheated. The peaches dissolved a bit, but still tasty.

I procrastinate on cleaning. Lolll

I bought a few more peaches today. Will make the cobbler some time this weekend.

Glad Connie got it together.

I will have to look for densitin.

Judy, the Desitin (spelled it wrong before) is in the baby diaper aisle. You kind of smell like a codfish, but it is great stuff to put on before things happen.

Went to a very nice funeral. He was in the service for 4 years so they had two honor guards from McConnell Air Force Base to present the flag and play taps.

Let me know how you like the cobbler.

I appreciate that advice, though. I wouldn't have thought of using it preventively, thank you!

Might make cobbler this evening. I will definitely let you know.
Did you serve yours yesterday?

I just made the fresh peach pie using peaches/one cup of water/sweetener/2Tbs cornstarch/sf peach jello and cinnamon.. my crust kind of dissolved with the wet peaches--the bottom crust.

Cobbler is gone. .

I'll have to freeze some peaches before we leave on Thursday.

Gary is on security duty for VBS...Guarding the back door. Lol.. I took this year off. Let the young people do it.

Well, it is laundry day..Scarlet and I went out for breakfast after we took care of Lana's cats and doggies.. The dogs barked at Scarlet because she looked afraid while they never bark at me at all. Plus, I bring them treats..They are in a pen, so everyone is safe and they are two
teddy bears..

Gosh, it is so hot.. I'm trying to get my clothes together for Thursday..I hate taking a lot, but we will be gone 10 days and 3 nights I have to wear a dress for dinner. I'll do my usual
black and white combo. LOL..

I know you will check in, but I miss you already!

I have a sorority reunion this weekend in Stillwater. We will spend ONE NIGHT at our old sorority house. We have to take our own sheets, pillow, towels, etc. I am astounded at how many choices I want for our ONE NIGHT together. I don't even feel bad about it. I know once I see what everyone else is wearing, I'll be glad I had choices. LOL

So packing for 10 days with 3 dress-up nights sounds daunting! Is it just you & Gary? Sorry if you've already mentioned whether you're traveling with friends.

DH's brother and sister-in-law went to Maine a month or 2 ago. Now that's all DH can think about! We are definitely going and fairly soon. But I have a question - is it still unwise to eat shellfish in months that don't end in R? I have read it's okay to eat commercially harvested shellfish, because the red tide and whatever else things are monitored closely. What do you think, Carolyn?
If it's actually something we should pay attention to, I'd rather wait until September to go, although my gosh I'll be surprised if we go before then anyway.
Life is passing so quickly.

Those were good dogs, and Scarlet is probably wise to be afraid. Not all dogs are friendly!

I hope you are able to pack more wisely than your friend Judy.
I keep thinking of little things and dropping them in my bag.
