Hi Cindy...Thanks for your comments on Mali..It is a very scary place to be and I'm not sure
this kid totally gets it..He has to raise a bunch of money before he goes and he is finding out it is hard work..

Debbie is on FB...Buffy is on FB..I miss them..

Cindy...I will read the reviews on 7Keto..I need help.

Well, the antibiotic caused extreme sickness.. I think I lost a pound yesterday..So, I called my dentist at home and he said to just do Amoxicillin for 2 weeks..500 mg twice a day.
I will take a probiotic with it..2 hours apart.

My friend who had a root canal a few weeks ago was in pain for a week afterwards..Her dentist told her she would be. Freddy just said take Advil for pain..and me thinking I wouldn't have any..LOL..

Make sure it is the 100mg. Most are taking 200mg/day but read at least a couple are taking 400mg. I take one first thing in the morning and another maybe 4:00.

Carolyn, Mali scares me to death. I wish he would rethink this. It really isn't safe.

That's what I'll do, too. I did choose the 100 mg.
You don't see any problem with taking it on an empty stomach, do you?

Carolyn must have a dear friend or family member going to Mali, or trying to get to Mali after soliciting donations. Mission work?

I'm better..

I totally agree. It is our pastor's son who just graduated from Wheaton. A mission organization came to the college to recruit kids. It is a two year stint. Honestly, this is a nice kid, but doesn't have survival skills and bright red hair and pale skin. He has to raise 54,000 for his support before he goes. He has no idea what he is getting himself into. It is totally Muslim and he is supposed to tell them about the gospel, but not in the open. My prediction is if he goes, he will be home after a short while.

I got the 100, too.

We can only HOPE he'll be home after a short while!

Glad you are better!

Gary is afraid he will be kidnapped and held for ransom or worse.

Yes, I am better. My eating is crazy now because of the soft food plan. I did make a soft meatloaf that was good.

I am WAY afraid of the "or worse."

I can't remember who was talking about this, but I bought the Zeroodle shiratake noodle from netrition. It's not cheap. It's $4 for a bag, but it is a LOT of noodles.
Here's the thing: NO fishy smell!!! NO huge belly hurt from too much fiber! FABULOUS texture!! This is totally worth it, in my opinion.
We're so infrequent in wanting noodles, but this might change things.

Am currently making LowCarbYum's pizza with white sauce for a late dinner. All of our dinners are late when I'm working. Our house smells good.

Fast healing prayers for you, friend Carolyn.

Hello friends! This is our last week of camping! We are quitting a week early. My dad's out of town visiting my sister so we're going to stay at his house this last week before we move in our new place. He doesn't have internet so I'll still be spotty with my posts but I just wanted to update you all.

I have got to do something. I'm 61 and have put on 10# since the NP took me off all bioidenticals back in June. I was on 3/4 grain of NT a day and I'm now down to 1/4 as my bloodwork indicted that I've got plenty of free t3 - almost top of range. My appetite is out of this world. My best weight is 125 and this morning I hit 137.5. I have went through bouts that I've gained and then lost the 10# with low carb.

What is this 7 keto product? I just don't want to feel hyper. You'd think I'd lose weight feeling hyper - heck no, I gain.

Any suggestions? This morning I had 2 over easy eggs fried in olive oil but I'm guessing I'll be famished here soon.... I do have a cheese stick ready.

First off, why did your NP take you off your BHRT?

Just took my 7 Keto..

I'm at at 3/4 speed now. Tooth only needs occasional Tylenol.

Glad you are staying at your dad's home, Sandy. You'll have to hang out at Starbucks. Moving Day is coming up...

Deb...yes, did your NP take your blood? Taking you off Bios was kinda weird I think. Did he have a reason?

Poor Shawn's mom. She is in the Parsons hospital with a perforated bowel. I don't know anymore, but it sounds like she should have surgery. Shawn drive there really early this am, which is good. So please pray for Connie.

No toothache today!!! So very thankful for that.

We are having our small group over to watch Is Genesis History? On Netflix. It is very good. I ordered some cookies from my friend's daughter's bakery.

Got my new left lenses and still trying to figure out if I can see with them. I think I'll try driving the back roads to town to get my cookies today. I have never left the house yet with them. Lolo

Hugs to you all..

I'm so glad to hear your tooth pain is gone!!
Let us know if you drive to town in your contacts.

I made your pumpkin pie cake into 12 cupcakes. For that streussel topping, I always use 1/2 cup almond flour and 1/2 cup Ouizoid's Fantastic Flour Mix.
That's a wonderful recipe, Carolyn.

Thanks, Judy. Why don't you add that you used Ouizoid's flour to the recipe on the recipe board? I think I'll try it that way, too. It needs something to help absorb the butter.

Connie just texted me. She thinks she will go home, but the dr hasn't seen her yet. I think they will do surgery, according to the internet.

Not that you need anything to add to Connie's situation, but one of my mom's greatest friends died from complications of a perforated bowel after a colonoscopy. I'm hoping Connie is in good hands and I'll absolutely keep her in my prayers.

I'll put that on the recipe board. It's such a favorite for us. As much as we love Jody's Pumpkin Bake, your recipe really seems like a pumpkin pie, but that topping!!! Just excellent.

I know. perforated bowel is a very, very serious situation. They are giving her pain shots and an IV and a tube down her throat. The hospital is pretty good, so as soon as the dr shows up, I'm sure they will schedule her for surgery. She hasn't gone to the bathroom yet, so things are probably backed up.

They shouldn't be waiting on surgery. Perfed bowel is an emergency.

I agree..the last news is that she is coming home tomorrow and will decide where to have surgery. We are driving over to see her in a little bit cuz we will bring her back to her house tomorrow. She has lots of hernias in her intestines. I think they are fixed, though. We shall see...

Yes, my NP took blood. I see her for my thyroid only as she will give me NT based on free levels rather than tsh only.

I've been thru about 6 doctors for my thyroid. The 1st I fired as he totally ignored free levels, just based everything on tsh (I have hashimotos). The 2nd was another endcronologist who was worthless also. The 3rd doctor was Body Logic in Columbus - they were great and the doctor put me on the bio-identicals. They moved and I switched to closer (they weren't covered by insurance and were $$$$). The lady NP that I next had was awesome - loved her - she also believed in bio-identicals. Of course she left the state so I had to find another one.

The next NP was great on bioidenticals but wasn't quite as up on thyroid so another NP went into the office of the NP that moved out of state and she treats hashimotos and looks outside the box. BUT, at 61 she feels that there is no value in me being on bios. She actually thinks there is more risk of cancer, etc. so she asked me about going off them. In my mind I'm thinking of the $$ savings so I agreed. Honestly I can't say that I feel any different - just not sure if it's part of the weight gain. I was on progesterone pills, DIM and a cream with testosterone and estradiol.

Gosh, Deb you sure have gone through a lot of doctors!! I guess see how you feel..

We got Connie home. The OU surgeon is supposed to call her for an appointment and then surgery. Hopefully, it will be soon.

Just made Jody's Pumpkin Bake. It needs to cool down before we have a piece.

Deb have you spent time on the site "stop the thyroid madness"?
VERY worthwhile.
You have really been through it.
You are right to know it's much more than TSH.
It's so odd, the people who are sick and tired are the ones who have to work the hardest to figure out their illnesses.

Yes, I've been on the thyroid madness site off and on. My regular GP said that I know more about the thyroid than him!!!! I have antibodies attacking my thyroid but they've come down quite a bit. I tend to go up and down so I hate the hyper feeling phases. I could eat like a horse - most people hyper lose weight - not me!!!

I have started trying to watch my carbs. Weights down about 2-3 lbs. I just need to be more careful. I've always been fairly thin but 10# makes a big difference in my small frame and clothes. That might be part of the problem too, I've been able to indulge over the years and it's catching up to me. I need to rethink my eating!!!

Remind me how old you are? How many years past menopause?
It is odd to just all of a sudden gain 10 pounds. And uncomfortable, and disappointing...I know.

If you've gotten 2 or 3 pounds off you are surely doing something right. For me, I will always need to eat low carb or I'll be as big as Texas.
One thing that got me back down to the weight I'm happiest maintaining, is intermittent fasting.
I read about people on these very boards who do different forms of it, but I could not begin to imagine doing it myself.
I mean, I'd lost all this weight without hunger, why do I want to starve now?
Sandy, our friend here, jumped right in and was so encouraging I followed.
Neither she nor I do anything extraordinary except fast many (but not all) days of the week. Usually we are eating one meal a day.

Obviously you get calorie restriction, but there's a lot of healing that can happen in a fasting state.
I get Dr. Jason Fung's newsletter. He's written a book about intermittent fasting.

Now having said all that, I do not know how your Hashi's would handle fasting. I know Carolyn takes thyroid meds and I do, but can't remember whether Sandy does.

Something to research and consider.

I will be 62 in December. Menopausal for 10 years. The 10# has come on slowly since summer. I was high end of free t3 and the NP dropped my dose down in June. It could be a combo of dropping the Nature thyroid and the bio-identicals. I do know that I was eating like a pig, almost like out of control which leads me to believe that I was a bit hyper. I do exercise 4-5 times a week. 4 mile walks or 3 mile jogs, firm video, treadclimber so I have always exercised.

I am addicted to dark chocolate!!!!!!!!!!

It does sound like the change in meds was the beginning of the eat festival, sorry.

I envy your love of exercise.
