The Diabetes Code - By Dr. Jason Fung

Looks like a new book coming out early April.

Might be of interest for those familiar with Dr. Fung's success with the Obesity Code.

I have recently begun reading his IDM Blog for the second time, regarding Diabetes. I'm wondering how different this book will be from his blog posts, or maybe the information will be the same, just in a different format.

It is supposed to be released April 3rd. It is on Amazon. I don't see what it could offer that Obesity Code does. It sounds like he is repackaging part of Obesity Code for a different market. It doesn't sound like new (to us) info.

Quote:
From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes.

Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes.

Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease―a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting―not medication.

Yep and if that is the case - will be interesting to watch the reviews. I hope to read it for free via the library.

My library doesn't have any of his books. He has a separate section on IDM about Diabetes and I agree that there couldn't be much he could say in the book that isn't said on the website.

I was able to read some replies via my moms Facebook and there is a lot of good feedback thus far.

Took off one persons comments...

There is new information. Think of a quarter. If you are looking at the "heads" side, it's different from the "tails" side, but no matter which side you look at, it's still a quarter. It's a sequel. It's the "rest of the story". There is valuable information in the new book.

Seems a lot of folks like it -

I’ve read reviews that say there is nothing new in the book and other reviews - by people stating they’ve read his other books - that say it has new info, expands on what he discusses in the other books, and that the new one is worth reading. SO... it is with heavy heart that I have determined I’ll have to read the book and decide for myself. Even if I decide it wasn’t worth reading after the fact, I’ll wonder what I missed if I don’t.

- I decided a long time ago that anyone who is interested for health and/or weight loss reasons (so anyone who is interested at all! ) should pay attention to the current science info out there on diabetes regardless of whether one has any kind of diagnosis or not. It is our best defense against many modern illnesses. And it shows the fact-based way to lose fat and keep it off.
