You do need a phone... Hope you enjoy yours and it will work well on your trip..

I gave Beth the KC info and will let her pick a few that she thinks will work.

A friend from church lost her dh today. He was 74. My knitting friend was walking to work and saw the ambulances at Carol's house. She called me to fill me in and she stayed with Carol while they wheeled him into the ambulance. He died right away. I think he had a massive heart attack. Such a shock. She is a wonderful lady..

Oh, Carolyn. So sorry to hear about your friend.

I am still constantly shocked that I am not the young widow.
We've been to so many funerals of people our age and younger. It's baffling.
At 74, you're still planning your next visit or something. I'm sorry.

I agree with you! You just never know and we all think we will live to be 90! They did get to travel a bit, so that was good. I guess the key is "to be ready"..

Off to an allergy appt. I was treated for mold. Hope I pass it, then I'll be treated for another outdoor thing, like flowers, grass, or trees. These I know I am allergic to.
Fun, fun!

Are you packing lots of clothes for your trip? It will be fun to have a girl trip!!

So sorry for your friend. I think of that happening all the time! So I also try to live each day to the fullest and enjoy our time together. As we all know, life can change in one second! I don't like to think of that, but it's a fact of life, especially as we all get older.

I used to be an android girl but my family almost forced me into iPhone. We did just change our plan with Sprint to a family plan, unlimited everything!! and it's only $60 a month total. So I don't think that's too bad. I don't know what phone I'll get when I have to replace this one. I back up all my own stuff. I've never been sure about the iPhone cloud backup system and never like the backup systems that only rely on you staying with the same carrier or brand.

Okay, it's Mold again for my allergies. No big surprise. I got some Wet it and Forget It shower cleaner.. that stuff is amazing! I think dh uses too much soap in the shower because the soap scum was bad! I had to get mine at the local hardware store. After you get all the scum off, you should only had to spray once a week! We are also switching to liquid soAp.

Gosh, our bill is way over $100! We have the family plan. Brett is still on it, but he pays his part each month.

Got the taxes paid. We don't pay all year, so it adds up.

Listen to this.. my friend (64) got an Obama insurance plan based on a low salary--they are retired. But their income went way up and she would have had to pay back expenses for the insurance. $6,700! Well, he is a pastor, so they paid more rent to her mom, who was renting them the house, so their expenses went up and they didn't have to pay the insurance penalty.

Health insurance is my main reason for ever working!! And I have a huge deductible!

Question about the wet it and forget it. Is it slippery after you spray it?

Yes, thank the Lord for Medicare.

No, it is not slippery, but you rinse it off before you take a shower.

Good morning!

Judy is on the road! Hope she has a great time!

Bill's funeral is today. His wife is a very strong believer and so was he, so it will be a celebration.

Poor Beth's kitty has IBS, but she has had it all her life. She is a Diva and I think that is what brings it on. Stress. Lol

Yes, when Beth got Ruth from the shelter they had a note on her that she is very easily stressed..The thing that brought on the stress this time was her Dad was leaving for a trip.
She loves Shawn only and waits by the door when he comes home. The shelter told them that she loves men and hates women. LOL.

Glad you are having a wonderful time, Judy. I'm loving my chocolate chip cookies I made..You might want to try them when you get home..I posted the recipe on the LC website.

Ran and got donuts for Gary's church guys..I didn't eat one.. The youth are putting on a fundraiser tonight, so that will do me in for the day.

I subbed some peanut flour that I had for the vital wheat gluten.

They were firm little cookies..a bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Pooter had IBS. Unfortunately she was also a picky eater so was on steroids for 3+ years.

Good morning.. Have you been following Going2's tongue cancer thread? Today is her surgery...

Sandy, Beth sent me a list of 3 restaurants. I looked at the menus and think Eddie V's sounds best. The other two were the Majestic and Jax Fish House? Cindy????

Well, I passed the mold allergy thing after 2 times. Now I am being treated for grass, which is a real problem for me. My worst allergy was Johnson grass, which lives and breeds down here!

After getting our shower sparkly clean, Dh took the door off and spent a few hours cleaning that. Today he has to reattach it. Hmmm.

How is everyone?

We got a new shower door a few months ago. I really like it. We've been in this house 17 years and the old door was hopelessly etched. I tried everything.

Is Johnson grass also sometimes called Dallas grass? Good luck...

I haven't been following that thread. I'm picking up a friend this morning to take her for her colonoscopy. Sounds like maybe a good thing to read while I'm waiting for her. I'll hope for the best for everybody!

Thank you all for the good info on hearing aids!

I now wear mine for a few more hours each day! The info I read about aids said to start out using them a few hours each day and slowly increase wearing them.

I also read about the brain - think it needs to retrain the hearing!

My aids are also the new kind - rechargeable, just plug them in each night and in the morning they are good to go. The book with mine say I can adjust them with a smart phone ( but I do not have a smart phone - maybe some day I will ?). My aids are the kinds that adjust the volume all by themselves - I did notice this now when I vacuum and also in church ( the organ was ever so very loud, but within a few seconds the music was much softer, and it happened with each song too )

I had many hearing tests and looked at many kinds of aids all from different places that sell them.

The autoalogist (spelling ??) told me I have scaring on the ear drum - he said it could be from ear aches I had when a child, I do remember those hearing aches, as I would lay on a heating pad and my mom would take me to the dr and I would get a shot in the butt.

Thanks Again For Helping Me!

See you around our new home too - it is such a neat place, isn't it!

Well, day two on the shower door project. Today is putting it back on the shower. No easy task.. I wanted a new one, but dh thought he could clean/fix the old one. I say nothing.

Leona, dh loves that he can adjust his aids with his phone. But it's nice that they will shut down when things get loud. The new place is nice...we will probably hang out here until we all decide to start posting over there. I read both the boards.

I hate shower doors so much that I didn't even get any in our new place!! I just got a really pretty shower curtain and liner and went with that. When the liner gets dirty I just throw it in the washer and voila! brand clean like new again.

Leona, where did you get your hearing aids? And could I ask what the cost was? I've read great reviews on Sam's and Costco's aids and they're so much cheaper. DH has a tendency to let his sit on the dresser so cheap or expensive works for that. Lol.

Sandy, we have two showers and one bathtub shower (with a curtain). So, with a stand alone shower, I think they come with doors, don't they? I would never get a sliding door for the tub/shower...akk. Sarah decided just to use curtains on her new 2 shower/tub combos.
Smart girl...

Off to my allergy treatment! Hoping Gary can find a latch for the shower door! I'm staying out of it. Lolo.

Our master shower is a walk in shower; no tub. A lot of the people ordered doors, I just didn't want them.

I'm so glad your allergy treatments are working for you!

Your shower is probably nice and big, too. I would go for a curtain, too.

Well, I flunked "grass".. I have baskets all over the house, so dh put them all in another room. One lady had her 2 year old there.. She had her daughter treated for allergies when she was young and can eat anything now! I love hearing those stories!!

Rainy day here!!

Much cooler, though.

I love that story of the 2-yr-old now being able to eat anything.

Sure does seem to be good news from Going2 regarding her surgery. I am hoping for the best for her.

Yes, it's a miracle. One of the more conservative ladies in the waiting room admitted that it seemed like voodoo, but it works! Some peeps come up from Bartlesville. There are two drama queens who go there. They are allergic to the whole world and like to share about it!!

Yes, Going2 just posted an update. She is home!!!

Me, too. I think I need to take some house dust in there to be treated. Then I would definitely go to a hotel!

Just saw Scarlet for a bit. She is doing great. Got confirmed in the Catholic Church last weekend! She is really growing up..

ot

My first hearing aids I got on line, they were good for hearing but after a couple years they were not clear sounding - cost was a bit over $700. Then borrowed a much more expensive kind, but these were programed for the other person, did use them as they were better then the first ones.

Then before Christmas this year got the ones I now have - Got the bill right in front of me, for the pair the total came to $4,989.10. But and it is a big but, my medicare advantage plan paid most of this and I only had to pay $500 for the pair!!

I got mine at a medical clinic, the same clinic we go to for everything for over 50 years now! A few years back I went to a ENT dr there and he said to get a hearing test, which I did and was told I was on the border for getting aids. Then also went to about 4 - 5 other places that offered free testing - those places said I needed a hearing aid really bad, cost for those were over $12,000 for a pair.

Anyways, got mine in Dec. on about day 3 the one did not work, went back and was told some how it lost its programing. That was fixed on the spot. I was given a book about my aids and had read about some smaller ones, dh said I would never be able to get the small ones for this price!!! The young gal that adjusted my aids, said sure you can get the smaller ones the price is the same and in any color you want! The auto. dr. then came in and explained about the new ones I was thinking about getting, he said they also have the rechargeable ones too, so i ordered those. Got the new ones in about 3 weeks, these had a longer receiver tubes, so those got replaced after a couple weeks with short ones. Also the first ones had a dome that was small, they then ordered custom domes, hated those, but did use them for a few weeks, they were big, did not fit and showed ever so much. Now have a tulip dome, love them!

So now with my aids, I have gotten 3 different domes, 2 receiver tubes and 2 different hearing aids. I am a very fussy gal and at first I thought I would never get hearing aids I like. These are over the ear type and do not show much at all.

I feel one must go back, talk to those working there and keep trying until you get the aids you like and the ones that feel good too.

Hope your dh can find a pair he likes.

Now if I could only get the Y & R ( soap ) to get rid of their background music, I'd be out of this world happy. TV sound is the only complaint I have with the aids, news are 100 % good, but not my soap! ( I think the other gal here that answered about aids for me, the "thing around her mom's neck is called "blue-tooth" ) I was told that will be available for me in September!

Good Luck finding what works for your dh!

Thanks for taking the time to help me!
