Julie: You know I always have HWC in my coffee, even on fasting days! I am not at 500 calories, but I am also not at zero calories either. I think as I get better at fasting, I will start dropping things out (like I still have to sweeten my coffee with just a bit of splenda). But I still definitely feel the benefits from a "dirty" fast. I think you are right, everyone is a little different and you have to find what works best for you.

I am so sorry that your family situation is causing so much stress! Is your dad doing better now? Do you have another trip to Texas planned? Even if you are not stress eating (and I absolutely do that too) your cortisol levels must be elevated which can make losing weight very difficult. So don't beat yourself up!! Hopefully things will ease and you can get back to a more restful life.

Way to go on your 5K! Those are such fun races. They aren't too long and I am not one of those out front fast runners, so I just sit back and enjoy the scenery. I always meet interesting people during races. It is like you instantly bond during that short time, ha ha!

Thanks NCLady! I may try the dirty fast with a little HWC. I know my stress this year with my dad and my back issues have made it extra tough to lose weight. Hopefully I can turn things around now. My dad is still in rehab recovering from his hip replacement. His body is healing but sadly it’s taken a toll on his mind and his dementia is worse than ever. I will go back this summer to visit him again. Hopefully his attitude towards his recovery improves with time.

The 5K was a blast and it was fun to people watch. This was a Greek themed race in honor of Dionysus the Greek god of wine so folks dressed up accordingly. It was crazy!

Thanks for the info and well wishes! Have a great night!

hi, everybody!. I'm still here until we start the May thread on the LCNeighborhood. I just do low carb with IF (dinner to lunch) so I haven't had much to contribute.

Got a really nice drop yesterday! 2 lbs away from my monthly goal!

NClady-Yea when I go back to regular eating, it'll be with liquid calories. To stay low carb, I'll be drinking many broths and liquidy soups to ease back in. From the research I've done, doing anything else will result in stomach upset since its had a break for so long.

I'm so excited to see everyone that is looking into it. It has really been a great experience for me. And I can't put into words how grateful I am for the overwhelming support I got here. I honestly didn't know if I would have been allowed to put and talk about my fasting experience on here since it isn't a fasting board. Then to see so many others wanting to try the same thing has really been great!

Unfortunately, my own sister has not been happy at all. We both are trying to lose weight, and she has shown a lot of jealousy towards this entire thing. I sent some updated photos comparing to my photos from January and she refused to respond. I called her later and asked if she saw them, she told me she did and just got quiet on me. I just ended the phone call. Then adding to the fact that whenever we've attempted to lose weight together in the past, she never had a problem sharing her details with me and vice versa regarding our weights, she's been highly secretive with hers which is strange. I'm not sure what's going on with her lately, but I'm just dropping the rope with her on this particular issue. I don't need the negativity.

Good morning ladies! I was really happy to see another nice drop on the scale today. I was feeling pretty hungry last night and it was tough to get through the evening but I'm glad I did. (It would have been easier if I had our million dollar scale NCLady!) Once again I'm not hungry this morning and although I would LOVE to make it until tomorrow around 10:30am which would be about 108 hour fast I don't know if I can make it through another evening. But I plan to at least try to get as far through today as I can. Right now I'm not feeling the bike but I hope that changes after my coffee.

The wine is being delivered tomorrow, ugh. The weather here is supposed to be really nice and DH is off. That is not a good combination for my diet.... It would be great if I could hold him off on opening a bottle until Sunday.

Julie - I'm sorry about your dad and I hope that things will improve both for him and for you. It can be very stressful dealing with our parents and their medical issues. You should read some on the JUDD pages. They do alternating under 500 days I think so may have some great tips on how to get the most out of that. I was reading some over on the new board and it sounds interesting. I can see where it would help. I'm going to see how this fast ends and what happens when I go back to eating. I may try a little bit of JUDD with my low carb and see if that will help keep things moving along. After doing the fast I think I could handle every other day under 500.

Casey - sorry about all the fasting talk! We didn't mean to run everyone off. I think that some people are just hanging around waiting to move as well. It feels sort of hollow here posting knowing that it will be gone in less than a week. I'm looking forward to the new place now a little though. I think if we can pull in some new folks to join us it will be nice.

NCLady -overall I think my hunger has diminished except in the evening. I'm really hungry in the evening. But right now I'm not really hungry and once I finish my coffee I probably won't be at all. I'm just a little worried about what to expect after the fast. I would like to make it through today if I can. I don't have errands to run today though so we'll be at home all day. DD is staying after school for something so I do have to go back out this evening and pick her up so that will help break up the evening.

Trismama - you are doing so awesome! I don't think I could do ten days and I'm not sure I want to try. But seeing your losses is such great motivation for me to at least finish through tomorrow for 4 1/2 days. I'm sorry about your sister, that's tough. If she is not sticking to her plan or just not losing good then maybe she's just jealous and it will pass. But I know its hard when someone you expect to be supportive and happy for you goes quiet and withdrawn. Keep up the good work and don't let it get you down, you are rockin this month!

hi, kt_mom! oh, I'm still reading and enjoying all the posts! I think combining fasting with low carb is an awesome approach!

Hi, Trismama!. Your progress is amazing and inspiring! I would suspect that your sister is not losing as fast as your are and is possibly opposed to your approach. A sister relationship is an important one, so maybe you could have a conversation with her about it, so you can be supportive of her -- OR maybe she doesn't want to be talking abut it all the time... Sometimes people get tired of our focus on eating and exercise. I learned that people got tired of my step counts! Ha.

Casey - I've found the same thing. People get tired of hearing me talk about low carb and the benefits. Its hard because we get excited about our results and feeling good on low carb but people get tired of hearing about it. My guess is partly because they think they couldn't do it. I wouldn't have thought I could maintain low carb long term until I tried. And although I do have cheats (more than I should) I do for the most part eat LC 90% of the time and my body likes it. My sister is overweight and wants to lost weight and I keep telling her to try the low carb but she just won't really commit to it. I think she got tired of hearing me talk about it so I try not to anymore.
