Triglycerides went up

4 weeks in EFGT and TGs went from 160 to 550!

This was discovered on a blood check for a life insurance plan. I was only 4 hrs fasting and had two hyman pancakes and salad with olive oil for lunch prior.

My HDL also dropped 33 to 29.

Is typical effect on this diet? I have lost 8 lbs since starting but hate idea of walking around with TGs this high

Thoughts?

that is most unusual, but I have heard of it. You aren't by any chance eating a lot of coconut oil are you? I've heard of some major TG increases by folks eating coconut oil--

if not because of Coconut oil, sometimes the liver is cleaning itself of fatty deposits and there is an initial increase in cholesterol that then falls after a couple of months.

That almost sounds like a bad test. Also 4 hour fasting is maybe an issue.

It is recommended to wait 6 months after starting a low carb diet.

And Ouizoid is right, adding coconut oil can increase lipids. My ldl went up.

Can you ask for a new test?

Thank you. Yes, my life is consumed by coconuts! Oil, butter, flakes, full fat milk... I feel like 80% of the recipes in his book use coconuts. I will recheck the labs with overnight fast.

Prior to this food plan only time I had coconut was with pina coladas

I would give yourself a few weeks off of the coconut oil. It really seems to mess up some folks TGs
