Second time around

Hi everyone, I'm coming back to LowCarbFriends after about 17 years. I had lost about 80 pounds, then regained about 45 pounds, putting me back into the "obese" zone. Dang. I stopped low-carbing when I came down with osteoarthritis and my doctor blamed my eating. I don't know why I believed him. Now I know that osteoarthritis often strikes women when menopause starts.

Anyway, I've lost 20 pounds in the last 4 months eating low-carb and exercising about 40 minutes a day on a recumbent bike. I'd love to lose a little faster but I won't complain. Eating low carb, my appetite has disappeared, which is wonderful too.

So I'm glad to be back, 17 years older and 25 pounds heavier than when I left. The support here is fantastic.

Hi, I got arthritis from eating grains..I even get joint pain from quinoa, I didn't get it from low carb. I did an elimination diet and found that when I ate grains even rice, I would get joint pain from it. Eating grains all my life destroyed my hips. I had to have both hips replaced. I think Dr. Perlmutter and the other paleo doctors are right. Even Dr. Atkins said that we weren't meant to eat grains.
